Several years ago, I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a towing company…read more I parked my AWD Mercedes at a restaurant in Auburn while I went inside to order food with a friend. While we were inside, we heard my car alarm and looked outside to see my car being towed down the road. Because it was being towed with only the front wheels off the ground, the rear tires were sliding sideways instead of rolling. Both rear tires were destroyed during the tow. We immediately drove to AET Towing and actually arrived BEFORE my car did. We explained that my vehicle had just been taken and that it had been towed while I was a paying customer at the restaurant. I later spoke with the restaurant manager, who told me they had not called for my vehicle to be towed. AET understands the law requires the commercial business to CALL for a specific vehicle to tow but instead acts like sharks illegally patrolling. The tow itself caused catastrophic damage to my AWD Mercedes. It was towed sideways with tires not spinning but instead dragging down the road while the car alarm went off. An AWD Mercedes simply cannot be towed by only the front wheels. The differential was destroyed, an axle was bent, the starter became misaligned, and the vehicle, which had only around 50,000 miles, was ultimately considered a total loss and totaled. Instead of receiving any help, I was charged for the tow and then charged storage fees for the two weeks the car sat in their lot because it was no longer drivable. I had to hire a different towing company to get it out of their lot as they refused. They also towed other cars blocking it in within their gated lot to cost me several extra days of storage fees. When I tried to discuss the situation with the staff, I was met with profanity, told to leave, and threatened with trespassing rather than having my concerns addressed. I also attempted to seek help afterward but was unable to get anywhere with the local authorities or attorneys I contacted. It seems they have friends in town who support these activities. This experience cost me my vehicle and thousands of dollars, and I never received any compensation. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend AET Towing to anyone.

On top of that, I needed my vehicle towed over two hours away. Whitlow Towing answered right away. Robert was courteous, transparent, and offered the best value for such a long tow. ($650) They accepted my credit card without issue and texted me a receipt immediately after processing the payment, which I truly appreciated. They arrived within 10 to 15 minutes in a well equipped tow truck. Robert took the time to look under the hood to see if there were any obvious issues before loading my car. He then carefully loaded Grace and kindly allowed me to ride in the cab, which meant I did not have to make other arrangements late at night. I was incredibly grateful for that. I was a little nervous about a two hour ride with someone I had just met minutes earlier, but it turned out to be completely comfortable. Robert was a perfect gentleman. He respected my need for quiet when I needed it and engaged in friendly conversation when I initiated it. He is an excellent driver and handled my vehicle with great care throughout the entire process. In a stressful situation, his professionalism, kindness, and calm presence made all the difference.

But they started growing....and expanding...and they lost something along the way. Customer service was first to go. Then affordability. Those I can deal with, I understand that things have gotten more expensive and when you are dealing with more and more people, a little something gets lost. But I draw the line at integrity. About a year ago, my son hit something and ruined a tire. I sent him to Tiger Tire. He picked out an inexpensive tire that met his needs and wouldnt require him to buy 3 new tires. They had to order it. I took his car up and had them install it and when I went to pay, it was nearly double the initial price. They told me that was what he ordered. I asked him later and he showed me the invoice for the tire he ordered. I was pissed, but OK, mistakes happen. 3 weeks ago, he went to have air added to a tire. They told him he needed 4 new tires because of dry rot and quoted him $1100 plus mounting. This is a 19 year old kid, he believed them. I told him to check Walmart and other places, thinking maybe he could save a hundred or so bucks. Walmart had virtually the same tire, mounted and balanced, for $490! When he went to have them installed last night, the technician asked why he was replacing perfectly good tires. The dry rot was nonexistant. Just an excuse for Tiger Tire to make $1100 plus dollars. I am done with them. They wil never get another dime of my money.
