We woke up to our tree likely hours away from falling on to our house and separate garage. As we scrambled to find someone to help, we were lucky to stumble upon this outstanding family run company. Big Bird Tree answered our call and promptly had someone out to assess the damage and a team ready to remove the tree within 2 hours. They were upfront on the cost which was incredibly fairly priced. As the team arrived, another storm started to roll in but this company worked as much as possible through the rain to remove the most potentially destructive branch over the house before it started to lightening. They returned the next day to take down the remainder of the tree and later to grind down the stump/and remove all debris. This company is run by a SHYSTER! Under delivers, cuts corners and does not do what he say's he is willing to do. Adds costs after quoting the job, while the workers are doing the job. The tree cutter's are unsupervised for the majority of the day and cut your tree's to where you say, OMG! WTFK? What are you doing? You just ruined my tree!!! This SHYSTER does not care about you, your tree's or property! He wants his cash and will never return to complete unfinished work promised. Never pay this guy until the job is complete! They're not bad, but certainly and def not good. I called and after playing phone tag with them for 3-4 days I asked for three things 1) A quarter cord of fire wood 2) An estimate to mulch my gardens, 3) The removal of ivy off of my house. So what happened? They sent me a "bid" for the firewood. A "bid" that I had to sign and return. You'd have thought I was rebuilding a family room?! Just list your prices and tell me when you'll be here. Ultimately their bid for firewood was reasonable. I accepted. The other things I needed?. I got nothing, zero. It started off okay, until I had asked them for a tree for my front yard only to find out it wasn't a tree at all! It was shrub! I went back and forth with them to come to some fairness in the situation, but to no avail. I will never use them again, or recommend this company . I live in a HOA governed community so I am in violation having a shrub instead of a tree. I have to hire another company to fix this mess, who are changing $300 less than what i spent with this company. Use them at your own risk. I was also told it would be illegal to put a tree in my yard near the water line and sewer clean out. Speaking with the new company, I was told that is not true. Very disappointed. They sent in contractors promising the moon and the stars, but surprise, surprise! They conveniently forgot about the branches on the roofline and wireline. Oh, but don't worry, they assured us they'd handle it. Cut to the invoice: "Oops, sorry, the roof was too high for us." Classic move, right? And guess what? NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER USE THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR TREES On Friday, July 21, 2023, I discussed triming two branches down 3-4 feet from tips of branches of an American Elm Tree in back yard. I was very clear to discuss that I only wanted a few feet 3-4 taking from two separate branches and no more. I discussed cutting down an Maple tree in the front yard. I said that I would call to discuss on Monday, July 24, 2023. On Monday, July 24, 2023 this company was repeatedly calling me on the phone for my business. I sighed the contract for the items listed above. No date or time was set or discussed by the company or my me on either, phone, email, text or letter. I did not hear from them until about 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, July 25, 2023. I was in a doctor's appointment and I did not take my phone with me to the appointment. When I was done with the appointment, I listened to my voicemail and this company called to say that they were at my house trimming and cutting down my trees. Obvioulsy they were there without my prior permission or knowledge. I said, "Stop doing anything, I am on the way." When I arrived about 15 minutes later they were still cutting on my trees. They never informed or discussed with me directly that they would plan to be there that day or at that time. They just took the liberty to begin the work without my knowlege or permission to even be on my property. As a result, they butchered the tree in front. The American Elm in the back has three very large limbs cut to the trunk. I am now without my privacy from the back side, across the alley neighbor who has a 20'x20' big screen TV in his back room. I feel like I am in a drive in theater in my back yard after my tree has been disfigured. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. They are not interested in you or your trees. They are only interested in money from you and that is all. The owner Philip texted, too chicken to discuss on the phone, suggested that I owed him money after this mess he made of my trees and the rudeness to come to my property without my permission or knowledge. Take if from me, this is a disaster company. Mr. Philip uses his fake religion to make himself seem better than anyone else. After he did this to my yard and I complained, he called me a liar and told me, " the Lord is watching." How rude and insulting Mr. Philip is to me and the Lord! A person came after I called to give me an estimate. He gave me a range from $500-675 for the work. He said a crew would come the next day. No one came. I called the office with this issue, and the man who gave the estimate sent me a weird text. I told him his text was weird and to cancel my appointment. He texted me at 6:15 the next morning. I was desperate because of a code enforcement notice I had, so said come. (Who texts people at 6:15 in the morning) The crew boss charged me the high end of the estimate with no explanation, which didn't make sense, since the estimator said the high end was if they ran into problems. Call me crazy, but how about the person I show around my property with instructions show up on the work day for five minutes? Oh, and they stuck an ad sign in my front yard without asking me. My husband and I recently moved into a new house, with a couple of trees and a stand of red-tip photinias that were too close to the foundation. They had to go! I contacted one service who didn't show up for their morning appointment, but came by in the evening while we were away from home, mowed the lawn, and left an invoice. (?!) After a scathing phone call to the owner, he came by the next day to give a quote on the tree service. I paid him for the lawn service, just so there would be no loose ends between us, and was glad to see him leave. Another service gave a competitive quote, but subjected us to what we felt was extreme hard-sell on other services. Then it was Big Bird's turn. Bryan came by on the dot of his appointment time. He was knowledgeable and pleasant. He answered all our questions and gave a quote that was a little higher than the other two, but ended up matching the price. The work was done the day after I called to give them my business. They returned the next day to grind the stumps down. They removed all the wood, per our agreement, and didn't do any damage to the house, garage or yard. As my husband and I couldn't be home when the trees came down, the work crew contacted me to make sure they cut the correct trees. I've never had to have trees removed before, so this was an extremely stressful decision. They were very clear on that before they began, which gave me great peace of mind. Everyone I came in contact with at Big Bird, from the office personnel to the work crew leader, was courteous and professional.
