I have had Big Barn Brewing a couple of different times now. The location where they are seems like a fairly large facility in Mead which is north of Spokane. There are lots of signs where you can purchase and pick berries. At the brewery itself it lives up to it's namesake as the brewery is in a barn. One side of the brewery is a stage and a fair amount of outdoor seating while on the other side is a sizeable parking lot which is good as this brings in a lot of people it seems. The inside of the barn is nice and roomy like a lot of these barn breweries are and even though it was busy it was spacious where everyone had some space. But now onto the beer! The Black Dog Stout was one of the three beers we had. This was a good, solid stout. It had coffee elements and sweetness in the flavor profile. The beer was smooth and creamy which is how a good stout should be as well as the hue which is nice and dark. The following beer really put us in a quandary as to which of the remaining two would be our favorite. The Bailar Con Maiz was the next beer we had and we were just thrilled to have it. Of course I am very partial to Mexican Lagers this one was excellent and one of the best ones I had in recent memory. This beer is malty, corn flavor, smooth and light bodied. The final beer was also excellent and I think had a slight edge over the Mexican Lager as it was so different and good. The Mead Honey Lager was the next one and it was so good and so unique! It had that mead essence going on due to the honey. The beer is sweet if that isn't obvious because of the Honey but not too much and has a dry flavor features at play. Also this beer is smooth and light bodied. The three beers we had we really enjoyed and hope to try out more Big Barn beer options in the future! read more

Love this place! My family goes here after picking fruits and veggies in nearby orchards. Great place to relax and listen to music. The food trucks are hit and miss though. So provide small portions for a hefty price, others are reasonable and delicious. I wish there could be multiple trucks to choose from at one time. Otherwise, awesome place surrounded by bucolic and beautiful views. It's the simple life for a relaxing and fun time. So glad the Lilac Century now starts and ends here! We love coming here anytime of the year, but summer is always the best. Music, food and beverages! Sitting on the grass under the trees and just relaxing. We were recently there (again) and I have to say the Ales for ALS this year is the best beer I've had here. They have a lot of beers to choose from also a local cider and wines if you aren't a beer drinker. During the winter months stop in for a beer and enjoy the wood fireplace and the stellar service. You can't miss this big red barn surrounded by vines, bines and orchards of "you pick" produce. There is a large parking lot to the east and a smaller one behind the grass area that is open during picking days. read more

I've been to over 300 breweries and there really isn't anything like Big Barn. It's actually kind of hard to describe in words and do it justice. For us, it's really the environment here that makes this place so special. There's nothing like a delicious cold beer paired with tasty grub from a food truck on a warm day sitting in camping chairs and listening to some great local music surrounded by farmland and big trees, and that's what Big Barn brings. And it's so cool to also be surrounded by all the stuff they grow to use in their beers including hops, berries, peaches, pumpkins, and more. Oh, and you can pick their fruits to take home! Again, a truly unique experience. It also helps that the beer is tasty too. Do I love everything they make? No, but they do make a lot of great stuff. Their Fallow IPA is a great darker and malty IPA that balances both hops and grain - something that is really lacking in today's IPA market. And they also do a seasonal fresh hop black IPA. Again, not something you can typically find. We also enjoy their Mexican corn lager, pumpkin golden ale, and bock. And their recent Black Dog Stout aged in bourbon barrels was amazing. To us, when we think of what makes Spokane Spokane, Big Barn is one of those things. It's a place we can't wait to bring friends and family to. read more

Stumbled on Big Barn beer at a local farmers market. Bought four bottles and fell in love! The four different styles were all brewed to "classic" standards, which I really dig. Set out for the barn the following week and found a postcard worthy setting with barns, hop fields, fresh u-pick fruit, lawns and tables to relax and enjoy a beer and maybe something from the rotating food trucks. We brought a few sandwiches from town, picked delicious raspberries and had a couple of fantastic beers. This is a "don't miss" operation! read more

We frequent here often, and love their Bodacious Blond beer especially. Love the atmosphere & calmness of the outdoor area for sitting and having a beer or two and inside if the weather is inclement, but here is something I think they could work on: bathroom situation. During the summer and large events you have to use the porta-potties down the hill, which hasn't been a huge problem to me in the past, but I have a few health issues, including bad arthritis, and I asked if I could use the indoor bathroom & was told no, even though I told her I have walking issues. If your septic is that bad, get it pumped more often or get it fixed. I thought it was Washington State law that you have to allow someone with a disability to use the public restroom? How am I supposed to drink beer & not use a restroom, so if this continues we may have to go to the other brewery on Greenbluff and I prefer Big Barn the most. read more

So a little background, when my family travels, we attempt to try out as many breweries and brew pubs as we can. They say so much more about a town than any chain joint can offer. We were in Spokane last weekend to drop my daughter off at University. After going to two breweries in town, we headed out to Mead after I found out that classmates from college ran a microbrewery on their farm. What we found was what my 14 year old daughter; who for reference is a city kid that takes the LA subways to Hollywood for school, described as Utopia. The property features an area for enjoying the beer, food (food trucks) and fresh picked (by you our your hosts) fruit and potentially live music, that in the eyes of us city folk was exactly what you would expect a farm to be. They have an outdoor area surrounded by working fields where people enjoyed the afternoon at the available tables or picnic style with blankets and chairs. I won't go as far as utopian, but will definitely describe as idyllic. Not only was the space worth the trip but the beers were as well. They offered styles for all palates as well as wine and cider. We enjoyed the whit beers and the barrel aged black dog stout, (we actually brought a couple bottles home). Plus unlike so many microbreweries they offer a large selection of brews to take home. So, if you live in the area or are visiting from afar and want a taste of the country and great beer, make the trip. read more

How fun to stumble upon a brewery while visiting the local farms. Free parking can be found in the dirt lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Picnic table seating can be found outside on the porch. Individual seats can be found in the lawn. Perfect seating to enjoy a cold brew and some sunshine. On the day of our visit, we purchased a box of apples and received a free pint of beer. Love free. This brewery had a nice variety of beers on tap (11 total). Pricing is reasonable, $4-$5 a pint. Wine is available for non-beer drinkers. Big Barn Brewery paraphernalia can also be purchased such as: pint glasses, growlers, t-shirts and hats. My wife and I each had a pint of Rusty Red Ale for $4 each and my sister had a pint of Golden Pumpkin (free due to apple purchase). My wife and I were please with our beer choice and my sister's beer tasted like a glass of Fall. Delish! Superb brewed beer. The owners are kind and very welcoming . A huge variety and selection. My favorite is the "Rusty Red", a rich beer with a molasses finish. Home grown hops grow on the grounds along with strawberries, raspberries, peaches and other fruits. You can pick fruit during the summer. Definitely a welcoming place for the entire family. The outside patio and food trucks are top notch and are there every weekend. There is also music from time to time. Join their Facebook group to get the latest announcements on food trucks and music schedules . Bring your lawn chairs as seating goes fast outside . There is limited inside seating as well with social distancing and masks. Hand sanitizer is readily available. Lots of cleaning all the time. You must wear a mask inside. Lovely place. It has such a great atmosphere. Kid and pet friendly. Lots of room for the kids to play in the grass. Lots of people brought their own lawn chairs, but there is plenty of picnic tables and chairs too. Beer selection was great. A couple of dark beers on tap. A nice selection of locally brewed choices. Big Barn is our family favorite. In the summer we pick raspberries and cherries. Listen to live music, enjoy the delicious food from the local food trucks and drink great beer (they have wine too) In the winter we have started a new tradition of tree cutting. They have an amazing deal where you get food, drinks and a tree for far less than you would pay at one of the pop up tree sales.. Not to mention you're spending your money with a locally owned and ran business. I really love this place! The location is beautiful and peaceful, well out in the country of Greenbluff. It is a lovely setting to grab a beer and just hang out for a while. It's a fun place to grab a beer and sit on one of the tables or even just on the grass. It would be a great location for a picnic, too! My favorite beer is their old classic - Mead Honey Lager. It is just a clean, easy-drinking beer. I have tried several others, though, and really I haven't had a bad one yet. The staff also deserves a shout out - I have always gotten friendly, great service. Maybe it's just hard to be in a bad mood in such a nice setting! read more

I used to love coming to this place. The atmosphere is great for the whole family. There's one huge reason I can't give it a five-star rating--their bathroom situation is appallingly terrible. There are only 3 portapotties. That's bad enough but when we where there the one I went to was almost overflowing! It was beyond gross! No toilet paper and made me want to gag when I lifted the lid. I honestly don't know if I can ever go back here (and it's been a favorite place the last several summers). If you have to go this route, have them pumped and cleaned more often. Or at least have someone pay attention to them and close them off when they get like this. I can't imagine letting a child go in one of those. read more

Great beer in a cool location that's even got a working farm on it for you and the family to enjoy. There's the beer which is made about 50 feet from where you enjoy the music and food truck and wine that's made across the bluff at Townshend as well as Cider and Mead from Heirophant (sp?) We were nextdoor staying at Walter's Fruit Ranch with our RV and walked over to check this place out. The bartender was friendly and willing to let us sample anything we were interested in. She was wearing a mask and the rules were posted well throughout. The rest of the patrons were following it also when going inside to get refills. The lawn area was spaced out well. Appears this is a popular place as it soon filled up after we got situated. The beers were flavorful. I really enjoyed the Red. read more

Perfect visit! Walked in to a great welcome and the masks went on right away. They obviously care about our health and we appreciate it! Perfect social distance space available and hand sanitizer available too. They've thought of everything. Now... The beer. Such a cute place! We came here around 6 pm, sat around on the lawn, had some delicious beer and discussed the whole time the beauty of the location. It feels like you're in the countryside somewhere. They have pretty lawn chairs, live music on some days, some bar snacks and plenty of seating on the maintained grass. The only bad thing is how early they close. They have a ton of string lights throughout the property that would have given such a nice vibe if turned on but they close so early, you can't ever see them on! Such a shame. We would have stayed past 9 and continued drinking if they were open. I think they would have reached more people if they extended their hours. read more

This local brewery, owned by a family that has deep roots in Greenbluff, has amazing beer. The tap house is located off.the main drag in the Greenbluff area, which is nice. It has a small outdoor seating area as well as a small indoor area. There are 9 beers on tap made with ingredients grown at the farm. The Maggie's lavender IPA is a must! It is unlike any IPA I have ever had. The other two I tried, the BlackBerry Porter and the Bluff Top Belgium were amazing! The bartender was knowledgeable about the entire process of beer making and was also very personable and friendly. There are free peanuts and pretzels to snack on as well as an array of retail items to purchase from growlers to T-shirts. read more

I had the Strawberry Blonde and my wife got the Honey Meade Lager, neither of us really enjoyed our drinks. On Sundays they add a dollar to every beer to cover the band, I feel like the increased volume of sales with a band present should cover this expense. I would pop in, but I wouldn't make this a destination. read more

Lovely brewery out in Green Bluff farms! The venue is gorgeous with an amazing view of the country and a lawn to bring the kiddos or pack a picnic. The food trucks the invite are really fantastic, their staff and super knowledgeable of their selection and will make great recommendations.
