This place is definitely impressive from the outside, and even walking in you can't believe the money that must have been spent on this place. First thing I thought, "this is going to be expensive", but I figured, if they spent all this money, the food and service must be pretty good, they need to get a return on their investment.
Well, I was right on the first part, but way off on the second.
The Restaurant:
This place is pretty crazy, they have a wall that must be half a football field, and it's a TV, pretty cool. But it might just be an enormous distraction, maybe they hope you won't notice how bad the food is if you are staring at a TV the size of Texas....sorry guys, didn't work for me.
The server was pleasant, but the food was terrible. My brother's baked potato was still hard, he ordered the parmesan crusted halibut ($18), which he said was very bland.
I ordered the alaskan fish and chips ($16), for my $16 I received what looked to be three "fillets" that were just taken from a VanDekamp's box purchased from the grocery store freezer section. They didn't taste any better either. On the side were some decent fries, nothing special, and a salad....oh wait, I never received my salad. My entree came and I informed the waiter that I had never gotten my salad. He said he would have that credited, but when I received the bill it was still there.
We ordered drinks as well, the first round came in a timely manner, but the second round, well, it almost didn't come at all. We flagged down our server and he said he would "go find that guy", whatever that means. The Crown Royal and Coke came in a glass that may have been meant to be a sippy cup it was so small, and mostly filled with ice.
Now, granted, the server was nice, and apologetic, he did remove a few bucks from my brother's tab for the potato, but not for my salad.
I know, I am at a sports bar, but you either price your food sports bar prices and serve sports bar food, or you build a gigantic fancy techno-fab joint and price as if I am at a decent restaurant, and give me decent restaurant food, you can't have it both ways. I got the distinct feeling that they bought the cheapest food they could and jacked the price as high as they could to try to cover their undoubtedly high overhead. Bottom line, the food here sucks, it would have sucked for half the price I paid.
The Arcade:
Well, what to say here...you would expect a place, new and shiny as this one is, to have the latest greatest games, not the same crap you have seen in these "spend a crap-ton of money to get tickets to spend on worthless crap" kind of places...you would be wrong. They do have some newer stuff, but most of the games consist of spin this wheel, shoot this clown, knock these coins off. Just like at any of these other places, expect they cost a buck fifty to play instead of fifty cents. They have a couple of decent video games, but if you find one you like you can definitely drop some coin playing, since each swipe could cost you 1.50 or 2.00. Oh, and the swiping of the game card...this sounds like a great idea, no more pockets full of quarters, no more machine eating your coins without giving you credits, except that i think I had to swipe my card an average of five times each time I wanted to play, or continue playing. That's a little irritating.
All-in-all, this is a good place to bring kid's, they won't mind the crappy food, they will have a blast in the arcade, I didn't bowl, but you can't really screw that up, right? Just be sure you have deep pockets because nothing is cheap about this place....well....except the food quality.
NOT RECOMMENDED for food.
Arcade, you could go to a local Wunderland nickel arcade, there are some more update games at Big Al's, butI don't know that it's worth the extra money for me. read more
