Fun little old school Drive in, where you can dine indoors (cold ac) or dine in your car... My brother loves coming here so he brought us to grab a burger and some fried goodness. Looking at the menu, lots of options to pick from and decently priced. I had the Mushroom Cheeseburger and while it was cooked just the way I like it, the burger wasn't seasoned at all so it was bland. I did try my wife's Bacon Deluxe Cheeseburger and hers was much better than mine. We also shared a basket of tots and curly fries and those were solid! I also had to try their draft root beer served in a chilled mug. I was told there was free refills but I didn't need it. Great root beer flavor and not as carbonated as other fountain/canned soft drinks. Staff was great at the register and bringing us our food, but we did encounter one of the workers getting scolded/talked to by another employee and walking out. Not sure what happened, but hopefully they figured it out. We were also dealing with a lot of flies buzzing around food and constantly had to shoot them away.

$16 Philly Cheesesteak? I don't think so. Where's the steak?!?

Had what they called the "Philly cheesesteak" WOW! Where to start? It had a tiny amount of meat in this sandwich. A Philly cheesesteak SANDWICH! I am not joking. Look at the photos attached. Yikes! For $16 this is what I got. If I had to guess I would say it had less then 1/6th of the meat it should have had for the price or to even be called a cheese"STEAK". the peppers tasted good but again it was a terrible attempt at an actual cheesesteak. Ambiance? This place had so much potential but this place has really gone downhill. They STILL don't take debit or credit. That's nuts. It's been months or more. I watched them turn away so many customers while I was there that didn't have cash. I would say at least $400+ worth of sales walked out the door the 30minutes I was there eating, seeing as the 2 of us spent $50 for lunch. The seats need to be reupholstered. Felt like I was sitting on the edge of a few 2x4s with a shirt draped over them. They get 1 star for the kind workers. Unfortunately, I will not be going back. I guess I will no longer be taking family/friends from out of town here anymore either. Very disappointing.

We came here after visiting empire mine, it's only a 6 minute drive away. We came here on a Saturday afternoon around 3-4. The indoor dining is pretty small, maybe 8-10 tables/booths, but this place is a drive in so, if you really want to eat indoors you can eat in your car! We opted to sit and eat outside at the picnic tables. Staff is very nice and quick. They bring out orders to you instead of just calling orders out, which is a nice touch. They accidentally made a second order of fries for us, they called it out and we replied saying we had already got our fries, instead of taking the fries back, the waitress just gave us a second order of fries for free. That was super kind of them! I got a San Francisco burger, which had caramelized onions and mushroom with Swiss cheese. It was SUPER good. Their fries were also really good! They come seasoned, not just the standard salt. We also got their mocha rocket shake and root beer float. They make their root beer in house and you can tell. Their root beer is much more smooth and not overwhelmingly sweet. I'm not much of a root beer float person, but I'll happily get their root beer float every time we come here! Will definitely be coming back next time we're in the grass valley area!

Ordered the DOUBLE BACON DELUXE BURGER and was blown away by the FLAVOR and SIZE. Order this burger if you have a BIG appetite! Also ordered the ROOT BEER which came in a CHILLED GLASS MUG! Tasted AMAZING! Service was GREAT! They even walked by and asked if I wanted a refill on my root beer! Cool diner atmosphere with great food. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

It's okay. Let's start with 5 stars and go from there. Take a star off for the root beer. -1 They make their own. It's not very good. I've had better. -1 star Outdoor speakers are all broken. -1 star No parking. -1 star Freezer broken -1 star I got the tots and SF burger. It was good. That's pretty much the only reason it got 2 stars. +2 star

Great burger, onion rings and fries. Root Beer Floats are a must have. Give it a try if you are in the area.

Great food. Root beer is excellent. Have a patty melt and relive your youth. Enjoy the touch less ordering from your car.

Placed a phone order for a plain cheeseburger, and received a burger with everything on it despite the recipe saying plain.

There's nothing wrong with his opinion, I don't eat that garbage, but if you can't tell or don't care about quality (yes, I'm being snarky, but seriously, if you're going to complain you have options...) Anyhow, this is where I come to eat, I always pay, and he complains about the price of the sandwich (I paid for) while he eats all of his sandwich and then finishes mine- it is also a lot of food, usually two meals for me, but I'm not a voracious eater. If you're still here after my rant, the food here is quality, you're going to pay more, you're going to wait for it to be prepared, because its not some cafeteria conveyer belt sandwich- it's crafted. The shop is very small, ambiance is- small meat counter, the soda machine has been broken as long as I've been coming, there's no indoor dining. I know, I'm not selling it. BUT Outside you have outdoor tables under the trees, there are birds singing, it feels completely Nevada City, much preferred to eating inside. Typically I order the Reuben and I think that's their best sandwich, but I've also tried the Roast Beef, Italian Ham, and Turkey. I know I mentioned their soda machine is broken, but they have plenty of sodas in a cooler as well as a few very good sides- I'm partial to the Dijon potato salad. So final thoughts- cheapskates with broken tastebuds stay home, let the real ones eat.

I left a 15% tip hoping it was going to be the greatest lunch ever. BEWARE of the incredible underwhelm once you unwrap to see the smallest sub ever, and then the bland flavor of turkey and hardest rye roll that my dog wouldn't even bother with. What a bummer. At least I don't have to be curious about this place anymore. And I assume times are hard for local businesses, so I'm glad I supported them this one time.

We were very hungry by the time we sat down due to the long, wait, but it was well worth it. However, that are hunger. I forgot to take very good food pictures. The kitchen and historic charm of the decor hides a quite spacious restaurant that is decorated with historic furnishings, and adorable crayon pictures colored by local children. The menu is varied and has something for everyone. I tried the potato pancakes, which are hashbrowns mixed with cheese and garlic and onions on top with pesto sauce and eggs, and I must say that they were a delightful surprise, crispy and savory and worth every bite. My friends ordered the tofu breakfast burrito at Cuevo rancheros along with the bacon and egg breakfast at all said they were. We chose to share a three person mimosa, which includes a bottle of champagne and juice of your choice to accompany, and it was just perfect for our group. Our survey Anna was very busy, but made sure to check on us after serving the food and made sure that the food was served our liking and responded to every request we had. I would definitely plan on waiting in line on the weekends. They have a self-service waiting list and they will call you - inside or outside- when your table is ready. We waited a full 45 minutes on a Sunday around 11:00 am. Worth the wait, though!

Ambiance is rustic as you are in an old building near downtown but is roomy and clean with lots of seating. Food and drinks: Coffee and iced tea: both good and refills kept coming. Lobster Benedict- 3.5/5. Eggs were overcooked to medium. The hollandaise was spicy but good. Lobster was a little overwhelmed by the sauce and the potatoes needed more crisp and seasoning. Biscuit and sausage gravy with a medium egg- 3.5/5. The egg was perfectly over medium. The biscuit was light and fluffy. The gravy was good but it was ham gravy ...not sausage (just FYI).
