On to Big Curve Fitness. Lots of clean, well maintained equipment. The members are mostly Marines, because it's owned by a Marine. People are courteous, but keep to themselves. They maintain great gym etiquette. They are open 24 hours also. Great music is playing. I feel I am getting healthier because the environment is healthy and motivating.

Big Curve…read morecaught my eye because of its proximity to my apartment, but also because it was family and veteran-owned and operated. On my first visit, I was offered a tour of the 10,000+ square-foot space and introduced to the staff. I liked the gym immediately as it had everything I could ever want: cardio equipment, strength equipment, free weights, a deadlift mat, core training, resistance bands, you name it! Being that my fiancée and I work in healthcare, the staff discounted our monthly rate. There were no gimmicks like sign-on fees, annual fees, or any of that nonsense. The monthly payments began, and so did my gym patronage. This gym is available 24/7. Members are given scan-cards that unlock the side entrance (next to Las Palapas). It takes some getting used to, and you might find yourself standing awkwardly outside from time to time trying to open the door, but you get the hang of it. The main room contains all the cardio equipment plus a lounge area to relax. If you're lucky, the owners' dog, Teddy, might come up to say hello to you. In the adjoining weight room, you will find all the strength equipment you need, from dumbells to barbells, hex bars to pull-up bars, dip stations to squat racks, and so forth. There's plenty of space, and they provide sanitation stations to keep the equipment clean. There are no locker rooms (this used to be a furniture warehouse), but there are two bathrooms and a filtered water station. I have had the pleasure of working out at Big Curve since November. It's nice getting to see the same people every day, sharing the equipment, and crushing PRs. I couldn't have asked for a better gym community since moving out here. So, if you're new to the area and looking to patronize a small business, look no further than Big Curve Fitness. You won't find a better place in Yuma to work out!

Zero stars if I could! I would like to share my experience with Crunch Fitness Crunch Fitness…read more I moved out of state at the beginning of August. I called the Crunch Fitness location in Yuma to inquire about canceling my membership over the phone. I was initially instructed to email a specific address (something like gm@[crunch email]) with a picture of my out-of-state driver's license. Since I had misplaced the original email, I called back and was given a different one: info@crunchyuma.com. On October 1st, I sent my cancellation email to the second address as instructed. In mid-November, I began receiving multiple calls, texts, and emails from Crunch Fitness' billing department, stating my account was past due for November. I immediately called the Yuma gym location. This time, I was told their official policy is to cancel only in person or by sending a letter via certified mail, a stark contradiction to the instructions I was given twice before. The gym representative apologized and told me to mail a printed screenshot of my original October email showing the date of my request. He assured me they would then "take care of the cancellation and the accumulated fees," since I was originally misguided. I sent the required documentation as instructed. The calls and accrued past-due balance began again in December. I finally managed to get a hold of the local manager, who informed me that my letter had just arrived via USPS. He then stated that they would not be processing the cancellation due to the past-due balance and that I needed to speak directly with the billing department. He even suggested I let the account go to collections and negotiate with the collections agency... I called the billing department, the lady said nothing was notated but could take my payment. Throughout my conversation with her I had to request to speak with a supervisor 4 times...I finally got transferred over to a supervisor. He suddenly located my cancellation letter on file. The manager, however, still insisted I needed to pay the past-due balance and pay for the following month before they would process the cancellation. He refused to honor the local gym's promise, stating they were not part of that conversation and nothing was notated in my file. I STRONGLY discourage anyone from signing up with this gym. They do not honor the instructions given by their own staff, demonstrate a severe lack of communication between the local gym and the corporate side, and apparently fail to train their representatives properly yet expect customers to know their policy verbatim.

This message is written directly for the owner of Crunch Fitness in Yuma. I want to express concern…read moreabout my recent experience with the general manager. His handling of my membership cancellation showed either a serious misunderstanding or a deliberate misrepresentation of the plain language in the membership agreement. There's no excuse for a general manager to be unfamiliar with the terms customers are required to sign. Saying "I'm not a lawyer" doesn't excuse it--it's unprofessional and undermines trust. He refused to honor my right to cancel within three business days under Arizona law (ARS § 44-1799.1) and claimed I was "confused" instead of reviewing the language objectively. The situation escalated unnecessarily and felt intentionally intimidating. While I ultimately asserted my legal rights and resolved the matter, it left a negative impression. Others in the community have shared similar concerns. If ownership is serious about improvement, I'm open to speaking directly. In fact, if you ever need someone who understands customer service and contract compliance better than current management, I'd be happy to submit my résumé.

We all know cleanliness is a serious issue due to fungus, bacteria and germs in the women's bathroom which I've mentioned to the staff several times, especially regarding the showers. There was a Band-Aid in the first shower on the left on the pull out seat for over six weeks. It was very obvious to see it which means No one was cleaned that shower for six weeks!!! There were some long black hairs in the other shower, which I slid underneath the mat just to see if anyone pulled it up to clean I went back several times in two weeks and the hairs are still under the shower mat which means no one's cleaned it for over two weeks!! I've mentioned these to the staff and the manager, and nothing has been done yet except to inform me that I'm no longer welcome there since I was dissatisfied with the cleanliness of the bathrooms.
