Haven't been to any other gyms in Yuma...also don't need to go to any other gyms in Yuma. 4th Ave has everything. Its not the prettiest but there's really not much else you need for a gym. The only thing missing from 4th Ave is a studio area for somebody looking to do light weight or body weight circuits, plyometrics and all some types of floor based exercises. Usually you'll see people workout out in the hallway on the main floor because of the lack of floor space. There is a half court basketball court as well as another racquetball area. There is a copious amount of cardio equipment...can't remember how many stair masters. I'm not a big fan of the type of elliptical machines they have but i still use them nonetheless. They have all the free weights....ALL THE FREE WEIGHTS. 4 racks with two deadlift setups. Plenty of higher weight dumbbells. Two whole other rooms with assisted machines for those that prefer those types of machines. They have chalk. From what I can see a good number of the members are regulars in the gym and some put up serious weight but seriously...don't let that intimidate you. It can take a little confidence to be lifting next to some of these stronger individuals but put that aside and do your thing...with good form of course. They offer a month to month payment which is what worked well for me. With all gyms rates are subject change but I was able to lock in membership at 40 bucks a month. It's 24 hours and they always have someone staffed. Everyone at the front desk up to the GM are all friendly and customer service oriented. As an FYI around 6pmish to 7ishpm it can be impossible to find parking but other than that...happy lifting. TLDR: 4th Ave has everything you could need from a gym with 24/7 service (with exception to certain holidays) at a good price. Pull up, lift weight, eat right, sleep and repeat. read more

The good: front staff is friendly and helpful, the locker room has plenty of lockers and most feature built in locks so no need to bring a padlock, plenty of equipment and the equipment is in good shape and maintained, WiFi is strong enough to stream music while working out. The bad: gym can be very crowded and quite a few people do not put weights away, a couple trainers act like it's there personal gym with no care for the other members. The primary trainer I've seen doing this is Alba. One day I watched her train a client and she had a circuit of 9 different locations. This prevented someone else from using the equipment because she will leave water bottles, towels and other items on the equipment. After she was done she left all the weights she was using out. This is a daily occurrence and not one have I seen here wipe down a piece of equipment. Most the trainers appear to be good with the exception of a few. read more

Didn't take long for me to pick this place as my new gym. Best first impression was during the trial period. It was refreshing not to be babysat nor hounded each day by a staff member. It's got everything I need. Maybe one piece of equipment can use some tlc but that's when you let the staff know. I'm sold. I've learned to partially trust reviews because people tend to complain about things that are not real issues or that can be easiest addressed. Example being an issue with a trainer. I have yet to have one. Today a ran into Alba, talked and used equipment that a client was running through as part of a circuit. Just got to talk to people. read more

If you don't even lift, you need to come to 4th Ave Gym to get your swole on and start making all kinds of gains. Seriously, this gym has everything for all fitness levels, programs and goals. That can't be said about other gyms in town. Try doing crossfit type of workout or Olympic lifts at World Gym, Snap or Planet Fitness. You simply can't. One of them even forbid you from Deadlifting. I hate writing and I know people love lists so here are my lists of Pros and Cons. Pros: - Clean remodeled rooms - New equipment/machines. - Racquetball rooms and basketball room. Check out the Auto Hoop. The board auto retract into the wall when not in use and it becomes a racquetball room. SWEET! - New Precor cardio machines. too many to list. upstairs and downstairs. treadmill, elliptical, bicycle, recumbent bike, steps, stairs, spinning/cycling, rowing machines, flat screen tvs, etc. - Roque Monster Rig Station - things you can do: Squats, Deadlift, Crossfit, Olympic lifts, wood rings, TRX, Slam Ball, Wall Ball, Speed Rope, dips, Muscle up, pull ups, leg raises, kettlebells, etc. - Free weight room, machine rooms, boxing rig, ab stations, foam roller, massage machine. - Swimming pool. -Opens 24 hrs (weekdays) Cons: No smoothie bar. Opens later on the weekend (7am-7pm). I can't think of anything else. Some may complain about the price but it's reasonable and comparable to other gyms except Planet Fitness but they're not a gym. I think the best thing about this gym are the friendly staff and trainers. The patrons know gym etiquette and almost everyone re-racks their weight and wipe down the machines. People are generally more friendly here than where i'm from (Vegas). read more

I started using 4th about 3 months ago, i had a membership at another local gym, so 4th was my option to get out of my routine. i would use it on back/biceps day only and would pay day passes evertime. However i got hooked and ended up canceling my other gym and getting the full membership at 4th. I LOVE the amount of free weights they have, benches, machines and cardio! I also enjoy the environment and atmosphere it has. Now that they have made improvements and remodel it, its 100% better. The new posters are SICK!! they motivate you and pump you up and it has made the gym feel a lot more "modern" but without loosing its "old style/pumping iron" feeling! i am really please with the improvements and also with what they offer, best GYM in town! ;) read more

Got a one week pass while we are camping at the dunes. Amazing! This gym is clean and friendly, the staff are so kind and helpful. The trainer Patrick Burke took time out to help us and even correct some form to get a better lift. He was kind and went above and beyond. We will get another pass again as we camp at the dunes and highly recommend this gym to anyone in Yuma. A big weight room, a room full of treadmills and ellipticals and a great pool. I come to this gym 6 days a week and it is honestly the best gym I've ever joined. Ok, wanted to wait a while before I reveiewed this place. So, I've been going for about 3 months, typically early mornings. I'm an advanced lifter coming off some injuries. I made a rookie mistake after moving to Yuma and joined Planet Fitness. In all honesty, it's not a bad place, I got healed up there but PF is for noobs, broke kids and cardio bunnies. When I walked in to 4th Ave. I knew I was going to enjoy it. They have everything an advanced lifter would need, and in many cases two or more of them. They have more than enough cardio equipment but I rarely see a ton of people doing cardio. This is a lifters gym, men and women. Part of going to a gym for me is the environment. I like being around people that are focused and know what they're doing. That motivates me. Now, of course there are some half reppers, ego lifters and old guys doing strange lifts but for the most part, the people here know what they're doing and understand gym etiquette. THEY HAVE CHALK, hand sanitizer stations and SIX STEP MILLS. They also have this cool old school message bed on the second floor that feels more like a foam roller of sorts. That thing will loosen up whatever knots you have real quick. Con: I don't particularly care for the bath towels used to wipe down equipment. I hate touching a damp, sometimes soaked towel that has everybody's sweat on it. Shits kind of nasty. I'd prefer paper towels but oh well. All in all 4th Ave is great. I've regained my old gains and have moved on to making new gains. I look forward to going every morning. read more

One of the best gym's I've been to, and I don't take my training or facility choice lightly... if I don't like it, I'll tell ya. It's large enough to have a good amount of equipment but not so big that you get lost in it. I has everything you need for basic weight training and a TRX rack and cardio room. The times I've been there in late afternoon/early evening there was a fair amount of people but not wall-to-wall packed. It's got a good training atmosphere, clean, well-maintained, and has large lockers in the men's locker room and large showers as well with doors instead of curtains. I'm not a fan of the overhead-mounted shower heads. I prefer wall-mounted, but the water pressure is good and the water does not take long to get hot. I was only in town for a short time and the day passes and week passes are reasonable in my mind. read more

I went to this gym for a few months just this last year and then i went back again this year. I like it over all as being the only gym i have gone to in Yuma. The only problem i have is when alot of people start coming through the door,IT GETS STUFFY as hell. Pretty gross.But besides that the equipment and price is just right for me. New renovations are two thumbs up in my opinion. They took out all the carpet and replaced it with rubber flooring. Bathrooms are updated. The Cardio room is amazing. They knocked down some parts of the wall to make the room feel more open to the rest of the gym. New flooring that doesn't shake, yay! All new Precor machines with large touch screen TV's that also have web access. And the best part, ceiling fans in the cardio room. Hallelujah! read more

I rounded up to 4 stars... I like the gym itself (free weights and plenty machines). When your in the cardio room the whole floor shakes from people using the equipment. Also, what is the deal with paying to use workout towels and weight belts. These items are used for safety of patrons. I'm just saying I've never paid for either of these at any other gym. Just changed gyms from World Gym to 4th Ave this week and I couldn't be happier with the decision. I can't say enough about 4th, they have more room, more equipment, and a hell of a lot more respect for their customers than the owner of World Gym. They have a lot of great new equipment on the weight floor, the stuff hat matters like the cable machines. They have a ton of cardio machines, all new with their own tv screens. There is so much more here, not to mention they actually turn the AC on. I already love this gym and I'm still on my free week trial. Trust me, I'm staying. read more

On vacation and just worked out at 4th Avenue Gym. 5 stars for this gym because they have it all for EVERYONE. Lots of cardio, in a separate room, that is up to date. For the power lifters and cross fitters, they have you covered as well. For the old school body builders that love the clank of the old weight plates and dumbbells, you are covered too. A few of every weight machine for those that stick with strictly machines. It's clean, has a good vibe and the staff are extremely friendly! They got it right! read more

Decent gym, good price, but very crowded. The trainers take multiple machine to do their ridiculous workouts with customers. They ask that you not tell when working out and here they are yelling out reps. Would give more stars if it weren't for the trainers. read more

I really liked this gym. They have a lot of equipment and the locker room is awesome! BUT what I really disliked about it is their community towel. They have ONE towel for every area of the gym to wipe down equipment. I went one time during my free week trial and I ended up getting ringworm. Maybe switching to paper towels would be a little more hygienic. I'm scared to go back. read more

Not in the greatest of neighborhoods! They do offer a one week free pass which is great for trying to find a new gym like I was. Seems very crowded and clustered with workout equipment, making it even worse at peak work out times and outdoor pool subpar- not as expected- I couldn't swim laps very well for about 100m just trying to catch my breath with how cold it was! Many other gyms in the area to choose from that are maybe only slightly more for a better facility. read more

4th avenue gym is by far the best gym in town and in my opinion there's no place like it., if you really value your work outs this is the place to go! This gym has a hardcore feel to it also not only is the gym flooded with free weights and numerous mahines putting your work outs over the top. In my opinion 4th Ave. Gym has a "real" gym feel to it,not a preppy or soccer mom vibe to it,customer service has been alittle lacking in knowledge in the past, but they were always polite and courteous to me,I have been a member twice berfore and will be renewing my membership again soon.
