Hiking boots.  Good selection, generally.

I generally go to this Big 5 store to get my hiking boots. I have also purchased some hiking related items here and I have always been pleased with the price. The staff is helpful. The kind of boots I get are always being changed by the manufacturer - Hi-Tec - so I am sometimes on the go between stores to stock up on the models I like before they're gone from Big 5. I like Big 5.

Yelp 100 Challenge * 95/100 Once again, I'm up in the clouds about why this Big 5 isn't getting as good a rating as it deserves. It has just about every item the Big 5 in Decatur and Charleston has and their weekly sales can't be beat. In my humble opinion, yes REI may have a wider variety but they also burn an average college student's pockets, so I'm all for Big 5. My galpal and I were here in hopes of finding good deals on water bottles since I lost mine last month. Nalgene and other BPA free water bottles had a mean of about $12. Remembering how I got my last Nalgene bottle for only about $6, I shook my head a little and my friend noticed, searched for other bottles and finally gave me the news. Since bottles are in season and the demand is higher - Las Vegans can probably attest to the increased water intake during summertime - retailers are taking advantage by bumping up the prices. Thankfully I got a bottle at home goods just a few hours later so wait till fall comes in to buy your summer stuff! But that's just me :P

Go to at 9pm and doors are locked and employees at cashiers just looking at us even though it says the store closes at 930p.

I had a coupon for $40. I went to the front of the store and was waited on by teammate Kimberly. I gave her the correct phone number to which the coupon would have been associated with. She said she was unable to pull up the coupon. I guaranteed her that the coupon had not been used and I was attempting to use it on a purchase I planned on making at this store. Kimberly was very nonchalant about it and informed me that I must have the phone number wrong or that it had been previously used. At this time another customer stepped up and told me and Kimberly she had the same problem with the same coupon. I then pointed out to Kimberly, the expiration date was May 17, 2026 therefore this coupon was well within the allotted times . Kimberly, then informed me there was nothing she could do. The coupon was not valid. .I asked to speak with the store manager to which she did call for. Tony approached me and introduced himself as the store manager. I again explained that I was trying to verify the coupon that I had. Tony again took the phone number that was associated with the coupon and again verified that it was invalid. I asked him why it would be invalid when I knew it had not been used and I was well within the expiration time. He gave no explanation just stated it was not coming up on the computer and it must've been used. I guaranteed him that it had not been used. The customer that had stepped up prior once again came over and stated to Tony she had the same problem with the same coupon at the store located at the fashion show mall when I attempted to ask another question Tony became very hostile and informed me to calm down. I had not risen my voice. I believe I was speaking very calmly. I was simply asking for clarification as to why there was a problem Tony continued to make very disrespectful and condescending statements to me. Tony then stated to me, "if I was not calm, ( referring to himself) you would be aware of it also you need to Liston to me." The other customer looked at both of us and she turned and walked away. Tony then told me to just get back in line and the teammate can override it. I informed him I don't believe she was going to because she could've done that in the first place and she made no attempt nor did she tell me she could do that , this is why I requested to speak to a manager. Tony turned to walk away from me, stopped turn back around and looked at me with a very disgusted look and looked at Kimberly and said just go ahead and override it and walked away from me. Once Tony informed me that he authorized for teammate Kimberly to override the coupon in order for me to use it I then purchased a pair of Nike men's Reactx Rejuvan8 shoes. The teammate that assisted me in the shoe department was a young man by the name of Jaquez. The young man in the shoe department was extremely helpful. I did inform him of the treatment that I had received not only from Kimberly, but also the store manager, Tony. Jaquez immediately apologized and asked me if there was anything he could do to further assist me I did ask him for the Customer Service number. I was very disappointed in the way I was treated at this location, especially by the teammate Kimberly with no explanation or any further assistance in regards to the coupon. And the store manager, Tony was extremely condescending and disrespectful when I simply asked reasonable questions and at no time did he offer any suggestions. I believe the only reason he honored it is because of the other customer that stepped up and informed him that she had had the same problem with the same coupon. I believe there must be a problem in the system with Dick's Sporting Goods. I would like to thank you for your time on this matter. I feel that both the Store manager, Tonyand the teammate Kimberlyneed further training and also in Customer Service relations. I had the privilege of working in the shoe department today with Zack and Sam. Zack is extremely…read moreknowledgeable at distance hiking and truly understood what I needed based on my level of experience. Sam sure knows his shoes! He knows the stock backwards and forwards and what new shoes are on their way. He could tell me how different treads work with the types of terrain I hike and didn't even limit me to what was in the store. At one point, he helped me order a boot from the REI outlet store. When I returned a few weeks later because it wasn't perfect, he kept working with me and eventually found exactly what I needed. Even cooler, Sam remembered working with me previously and was able to pick up right where we left off. Ultimately, I tried on or trained with almost 10 boots and I'm so happy with the results. Thank you, REI, for hiring employees, who know what they're talking about and thank you, Sam and Zack, for your patience and persistence, in helping me find the most comfortable boot for when I hit the trail. Addendum: Elijah helped me choose a lightweight, cold-weather hiking coat. He listened to my needs and matched his knowledge of the inventory with my upcoming and long-term hiking goals. It was nice knowing he used the coats himself and so could give advice about specific features.

I've been…read morecoming here for quite some time, especially to use the indoor pistol range, and it continues to be one of the most underrated gems in the valley. During the week, there's almost never a wait, something most people don't realize which makes it an ideal spot for consistent practice without the usual crowds. Lately, I've been meeting my nephew here for our regular range sessions, running a few hundred rounds and working on tightening our grouping. It's become a great routine for both of us. A huge part of why we keep coming back is the staff especially Chase S. His guidance has been outstanding. Whether it's reinforcing the basics or offering more advanced marksmanship tips, he's been patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping shooters improve. The progress my nephew has made is a direct reflection of that support. If you're looking for a clean, safe, well‑run environment to train, learn, or just enjoy some time on the range, this is absolutely the place. Highly recommend it for shooters of all experience levels. Great times all around!

I knew exactly what I wanted and had already done my research, but instead of being helped I was immediately talked down to and dismissed by the employee assisting me. He was a larger, heavily tattooed guy wearing glasses who kept mentioning his "military experience" while lecturing me. He told me the firearm I wanted "wasn't good for a woman," criticized how I held it in the few seconds it was in my hands, well yeah hello there was 4 other people in aisle with the used guns of course imma be holding it a different way I'm not about to be pointing it at them! Anyways he then started running through scenarios about me clearing my home and someone taking the gun from me. The entire interaction felt like he had already decided I shouldn't have one at all, which is not his call to make and not what I was there for. What made it worse is this isn't even my first firearm (it's number 8) , which he never bothered to ask. Even if I was new ...bro everyone learns somewhere, and the whole reason I was there was to purchase my a new one and add it to my collection and continue training with it and learning more about it in classes. Instead I was treated like I didn't belong there in the first place. I ended up walking away with my child because I was so frustrated and uncomfortable, while my husband stayed behind to finish the interaction. I will not be returning to Bass Pro for any firearm purchases. There are plenty of local shops here that treat women like capable adults, and they'll be getting my business from now on.

Even though he was out in the field, he immediately sent me the link for the user manual. I was very impressed with his quick response and outstanding customer service. I love this cycle which peddles so smoothly & quietly and the curved seat is so comfortable! My husband & daughter also started using the LifeCycle since it's so easy to use.
