Got so upset at someone's FAKE ass review that I had to say something. This bar is one of the most inclusive and welcoming bars I've been to. Unlike many bars in the neighborhood, when I've gone there's always been a diverse crowd- and their staff is definitely diverse. I met the owners and yes, they are people of color. The art work, the DJs, the music selection, and events that they hosted (including fundraisers for Puerto Rico, where I'm from) have always repped black and latino culture. Oh yea, and their beer selection is top-notch. read more

BierWax is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots. I love the vinyl theme and the bartenders here have always been amazing. I was there last night and the bartender, Lucky, was uber personable, knowledgeable about their beer & wine selection and played the absolute BEST music. We listened to albums by Whitney Houston and Sister Sledge. The space is nice too... It's cozy, but doesn't feel overly crowded. They also have a backyard. read more

I've been coming to this bar since it's opened. It's a great placed to hang out with friends or on a date. The viynl collection is insane and they always seem to have a DJ spinning on days they don't the bartender will play records. Bartenders are friendly and super knowledgeable about the products. Not intimating like some other beer bars can be. Backyard is huge and inviting. They have food popups from time to time which is nice. read more

BierWax exudes love for people of color, always making it a point to highlight POC music and art. The owners are a power couple and a model to be followed: so open and loving. And I've never had to deal with or witnessed any BS chauvinist behavior. I'm speaking as a feminist AF Puerto Rican woman. read more

I've been waiting for my first opportunity to visit Bierwax since it opened. Living in Providence doesn't make it easy to find time for a drink in Brooklyn! I'm happy to report that Bierwax completely lived up to its 5-star rating. I was fortunate enough to be there just as owners, Chris & Yahaira Maestro were arriving. Stevie, the bartender on duty, was helpful in exploring (and providing tastes) the wonderful world of craft beer on tap. Chris even popped open a special bottle of some craft brew to share with a handful of folks sitting at the bar on a early Friday evening. The outdoor patio was open out back, adding another element of awesomeness for craft brew drinkers to enjoy the weather as it (finally!?) warms up for the first time this year. And, of course, the music playing was right. I can't wait for my next time in town so I can visit Bierwax again! read more

See all

Went for a drink for a date. Nice easy going vibe. Lots of great beer choices. Although I side it's pretty small, They have a really sweet outside patio area in the back better for groups. Just wish they could have had music playing in the back also since that was why we initially came. read more

Bierwax has become a place for me where everyone knows your name. It's such an exceptional feeling to frequent and support an establishment where not only the servers take the time to befriend the patrons, but the owners as well. I've spearheaded the monthly-ish record sales at Bierwax for two years now and have been made to feel like I'm part of the family. As for the tap selection, it's as well curated as the incredible vinyl stacks behind the bar. It's so tiring to go out to bars and be met with the same old draft selections. Chris Maestro and company take the time to highlight and support all local brews and over time, the staff will learn how to navigate your taste buds. Nothing beats coming in for a beer and before even selecting your draft, having a pour placed in front of you with the comment, "I think you'll like this". Bless this place and all of the wonderful people working hard to make this bar truly exceptional. read more

BierWax - Beer Bar Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

One of a kind. There is is no place in NYC where you can see DJ's like GrandWizard Theodore or Bobbito Garcia on the regular while sipping on the finest brews. They even have a library section where you can read some of the books the owner ( who is a former public school teacher ) has left. Not to mention the art gallery on the wall. To combine art and music and literature with good beer is quite the accomplishment. Bravo! read more

I love this bar! Such a sweet and welcoming vibe. The record collection is almost as good as the beer selection. The staff is super friendly! I can't wait until we can drink there again, but being able to bring your own container (growlers take up a lot of space) is awesome and inclusive. Don't believe the racist trolls. Support black-owned businesses! read more

Such a good bar with great beer selections and a lovely backyard. Thank you for everything, especially now!

Great open space during covid and a decent beer selection. They also have a list of records to purchase during the daytime if you're that kind of hipster. My only request is that they get a hors d'oeuvres menu. Thoughtfully curated bites go great with any beer bar in NYC. read more

The perfect mix of eclectic music and craft beers! The live DJ is extra special when coupled with your a seasonal sour or stout.

One of the more awesome vibes, the kind of place playing Jay-Z vol 2 deep cuts and pouring something from Stillwater all with this beautiful album collection backsplash anchoring the room. It's a really welcoming atmosphere with friendly bartenders and an awesome outdoor space to boot. read more

I love Bierwax, it has some of the best craft beer around, the staff is great & I really appreciated them being open during the pandemic. They have some of the best DJ's in NYC to spin there, which is impressive. I love the hidden but visible Star Wars paraphernalia & the vinyl, wow, I mean the Vinyl is the reason to visit. I cant wait until everything opens up so I can stay inside & chill. read more

I've been coming to Bierwax since it opened. All I can say is it is phenomenal. Aside from what looks like an infinite selection of quality beer, the music is simply on point (I am a musician). The beer, the atmosphere, the staff, the overall vibe is just so much fun. By the way, I even ordered an absolutely great selection of beers for home, They even delivered ( I live in upper Manhattan). Can't wait till this pandemic is over to chill with my favorite Alagosh, Nowaday, and with the Maestro himself, Chris. You have managed to create a beautiful thing. Keep it up! JP read more

Always rotating menu bringing some great new brews, fantastic tunes and great atmosphere. Always had a great time here and Austin is the man with the plan. Great beer knowledge and recommendations. read more

This is a cool spot. Nice vibes with good beer. It could be bigger, but that must mean we only want more? We came for a DJ set and some stouts. I would definitely go back next time I'm in New York. And I will be keeping up with their social media to see what legends are in the house. read more

I feel like this place was created from a dream I didn't know I had. They really read the room here with the music choices, and they take those choices seriously. A Tuesday night with George Shearing and the Montgomery Brothers + a fresh glass of Alien Church? Sign me up (every day, not just Tuesday...). So much love for this bar. read more

Excelent beers, the decoration are tons of vinyls that are played, but if you are hungry this is not the right spot, definitely a must go to if you like good beers. read more

BierWax should be considered a essential business. They have wonderful craft beers on tap that are thoughtfully provided in take-home mason jars. In the event the owner is reading this- can you please share the name of beer #5 on your list in early/mid April? It was fantastic and quickly sold-out. It was a reddish sour beer. I'd like to jot down the name. read more

For any fan of great beer and great music - this is your place. Staff is beyond friendly, helpful and always seem to be having a great time. An incredible vinyl selection for any collector or fan. Few better places to have a drink or 5 with a friend or two and listen to some classic tunes. read more

If this is not the perfect bar in the world then I don't know what is! GREAT craft draft beer, local art and ALWAYS great vinyl music. Bar keeps are always right on time. This past Saturday they had Kool Bob Love on the decks. Nice chill crowd/vibe as usual despite a heavy downpour. Every time I'm here the draft list is super high quality (I'm currently partial to IPAs). No kitchen but like most spots with out one they allow food from outside spots. If you are in BK put the place on your must stop list! You won't be disappointed!! read more

Awesome new beer bar on Vanderbilt Avenue in Prospect Heights. They have a variety of beers on tap and even a few sours, my favorite. This is a great spot to grab a drink if you're waiting for a table at one of the nearby restaurants. Bartenders and patrons are friendly, beers are affordable and there's plenty of seating. I know it's a vinyl bar, but I wish they'd turn the music down a notch or two. It was hard to hear present company, but I won't let that deter me from returning. The inside decor is pretty sweet too. read more

In April I had my birthday here and the guys let me reserve the back table and couches (inside), which good for a group of ~15 sitting and standing around. We stayed from 10-12pm. Worked our perfect! Always a quality time at BierWax. read more

Amazing craft beers and a vinyl set to die for. As a DJ this is place is a godsend. The owner is cool as hell and really tries to promote vinyl culture and turntablism. They got a nice backyard for outdoor events. The beer list inside is very diverse and it looks like they change it up from month to month. Great venue, great staff and a must for any visit in this part of Brooklyn. read more

While there are other spots around with more taps, the vibe in here just can't be beat. The beers they do have seem very thoughtfully chosen, and are delicious. Bartender was super nice, and the record collection is amazing. read more

Cool spot in the neighborhood! They have a longgggg list of beers and ciders. I can't recall but think they have some wine too. I had a cucumber sour and it was so refreshing for a hot summer day. Definitely will be back for more beer! I do wish they had a bar food menu though... read more

Great spot, come for the people and atmosphere, charming backyard space, and great beer selection.. 5 stars

I'll start by saying I've loved bierwax ever since they came to the neighborhood. From the DJs spinning vinyls, to the lovely outdoor space, friendly knowledgeable bartenders, tasty craft beers....it's the spot. I was excited when they reopened this week and couldn't wait to stop in and support. The bartender on duty, Friday June 26th was rather unfriendly and cold. He informed us he had no availability in the garden or out front and we must take out drinks to go. Cool, np. When I asked about a special they had on a sign, he rudely said "take a picture of the qr code to see the menu." Ok. We ordered and I asked if we could hang out front to wait for a table/space, he said no. We took our beets and sat on the bench a few feet down. Once the 2 front and only tables opened, we chose to sat in one. The bartender quickly came out and told us we had to leave. There was no wait list, no one occupying the space and I'm sure the garden wasn't full. He wasn't flexible or friendly to his loyal patrons. Instead of rudely asking us to leave for no reason except for "you ordered yours to go" he could've asked us if we wanted another round, thus benefiting the business, which we would've been happy to do. He blamed it on a soft opening and ultimately, shamefully just walked back inside. Not the person you want to help reopen your business in my opinion. I still love y'all and will be back when the more friendly bierwax vibe is back! read more

BierWax - the outside of a restaurant - Beer Bar Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Pretty cool place...nice vibe. Very chill vinyls. Very, laid back, group chat scene or pre-flick date night scene. If ur looking 2 avoid the lounges...this is the place 2 go. read more

Delicious beers and vinyl records constantly playing contribute to giving this place such a warm and cozy feel. It's great seeing the owner, Chris, working the bar. It says a lot about him and how proud he is of his establishment-- as he should be! I also noticed a backyard area, which isn't accessible now due to the freezing temps, but I'm sure will be a dope option once the Spring hits. Can't wait to go back. read more

Hands down my favorite bar in nyc. A hipsters wet dream, vinyl dj's and craft beer. Chris, the owner, is often around he is a cool dude. Its usually pretty low key during the week, even on Fridays. Saturday is generally harder to get a seat at the bar. It is a small place, but there is an outdoor area. The other good thing is that they will do 4,8, and 12 oz pours, so you can try a lot of stuff on tap without getting completely sloshed. read more
