BierWax is quickly becoming one of my favorite spots. I love the vinyl theme and the bartenders here have always been amazing. I was there last night and the bartender, Lucky, was uber personable, knowledgeable about their beer & wine selection and played the absolute BEST music. We listened to albums by Whitney Houston and Sister Sledge. The space is nice too... It's cozy, but doesn't feel overly crowded. They also have a backyard. read more

I've been coming to this bar since it's opened. It's a great placed to hang out with friends or on a date. The viynl collection is insane and they always seem to have a DJ spinning on days they don't the bartender will play records. Bartenders are friendly and super knowledgeable about the products. I've been waiting for my first opportunity to visit Bierwax since it opened. Living in Providence doesn't make it easy to find time for a drink in Brooklyn! I'm happy to report that Bierwax completely lived up to its 5-star rating. I was fortunate enough to be there just as owners, Chris & Yahaira Maestro were arriving. Stevie, the bartender on duty, was helpful in exploring (and providing tastes) the wonderful world of craft beer on tap. Chris even popped open a special bottle of some craft brew to share with a handful of folks sitting at the bar on a early Friday evening. The outdoor patio was open out back, adding another element of awesomeness for craft brew drinkers to enjoy the weather as it (finally!?) warms up for the first time this year. And, of course, the music playing was right. I can't wait for my next time in town so I can visit Bierwax again! read more

Went for a drink for a date. Nice easy going vibe. Lots of great beer choices. Although I side it's pretty small, They have a really sweet outside patio area in the back better for groups. Just wish they could have had music playing in the back also since that was why we initially came. read more

Bierwax has become a place for me where everyone knows your name. It's such an exceptional feeling to frequent and support an establishment where not only the servers take the time to befriend the patrons, but the owners as well. I've spearheaded the monthly-ish record sales at Bierwax for two years now and have been made to feel like I'm part of the family. As for the tap selection, it's as well curated as the incredible vinyl stacks behind the bar. It's so tiring to go out to bars and be met with the same old draft selections. Chris Maestro and company take the time to highlight and support all local brews and over time, the staff will learn how to navigate your taste buds. Nothing beats coming in for a beer and before even selecting your draft, having a pour placed in front of you with the comment, "I think you'll like this". One of a kind. There is is no place in NYC where you can see DJ's like GrandWizard Theodore or Bobbito Garcia on the regular while sipping on the finest brews. They even have a library section where you can read some of the books the owner ( who is a former public school teacher ) has left. Not to mention the art gallery on the wall. To combine art and music and literature with good beer is quite the accomplishment. Bravo! read more

If this is not the perfect bar in the world then I don't know what is! GREAT craft draft beer, local art and ALWAYS great vinyl music. Bar keeps are always right on time. This past Saturday they had Kool Bob Love on the decks. Nice chill crowd/vibe as usual despite a heavy downpour. Every time I'm here the draft list is super high quality (I'm currently partial to IPAs). No kitchen but like most spots with out one they allow food from outside spots. If you are in BK put the place on your must stop list! You won't be disappointed!! read more

Awesome new beer bar on Vanderbilt Avenue in Prospect Heights. They have a variety of beers on tap and even a few sours, my favorite. This is a great spot to grab a drink if you're waiting for a table at one of the nearby restaurants. Bartenders and patrons are friendly, beers are affordable and there's plenty of seating. I know it's a vinyl bar, but I wish they'd turn the music down a notch or two. It was hard to hear present company, but I won't let that deter me from returning. I'll start by saying I've loved bierwax ever since they came to the neighborhood. From the DJs spinning vinyls, to the lovely outdoor space, friendly knowledgeable bartenders, tasty craft beers....it's the spot. I was excited when they reopened this week and couldn't wait to stop in and support. The bartender on duty, Friday June 26th was rather unfriendly and cold. He informed us he had no availability in the garden or out front and we must take out drinks to go. Cool, np. When I asked about a special they had on a sign, he rudely said "take a picture of the qr code to see the menu." Ok. We ordered and I asked if we could hang out front to wait for a table/space, he said no. We took our beets and sat on the bench a few feet down. Once the 2 front and only tables opened, we chose to sat in one. The bartender quickly came out and told us we had to leave. There was no wait list, no one occupying the space and I'm sure the garden wasn't full. He wasn't flexible or friendly to his loyal patrons. Instead of rudely asking us to leave for no reason except for "you ordered yours to go" he could've asked us if we wanted another round, thus benefiting the business, which we would've been happy to do. He blamed it on a soft opening and ultimately, shamefully just walked back inside. Not the person you want to help reopen your business in my opinion. I still love y'all and will be back when the more friendly bierwax vibe is back! read more

Hands down my favorite bar in nyc. A hipsters wet dream, vinyl dj's and craft beer. Chris, the owner, is often around he is a cool dude. Its usually pretty low key during the week, even on Fridays. Saturday is generally harder to get a seat at the bar. It is a small place, but there is an outdoor area. The other good thing is that they will do 4,8, and 12 oz pours, so you can try a lot of stuff on tap without getting completely sloshed. read more
