I had asked for a hybrid or road bike, but ended up getting a huge clunker (think the citibikes in NYC, Santander Bikes in London, or VeliBike in Paris). All bikes come with a bike rack and some bikes have panniers. The bike also has a built in lock for the back wheel. Bikes are relatively heavy, but held up well on the cobblestones and branches that we went over. Wheels and everything seemed true and no issues with the bikes what so ever, although I was scared if I got a flat during the ride that it would be a long day (luckily didn't happen). Jane's education and background provided a very in depth historical perspective on this unique place. We went on the morning tour (2 1/2 - 3 hours) and hit all the high points of Brugge and then ended with a cool refreshment (a beer of course) near the windmill.
