Amazing Food ! Great Service with a smile. Fresh Korean Cuisine. Small controlled establishment & menu which I prefer because it's always better, huge menus scare me. Do something and do it well. Complimentary Barley Tea.

Bibim Town is a good option for lunch. Located in the same shopping center as Mambo Italiano, Bibi Town offers some nice options, including bowls and combo plates. I tried the J-Bap combo plate, which included a choice of rice (I chose brown) and a choice of protein (I chose teriyaki chicken), along with Korean pancakes, dumplings and spicy cucumbers and kimchi. I liked the variety that it offered, although the friend pancakes and dumplings were on the greasy side. My meal was around $16 before tip. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. They also offer free barley tea. The service was friendly and the food was good. The environment was casual but clean.

Stopped by Bibim Town on a Monday around dinner time and I'm so pleased to have found this awesome Korean restaurant to really feed all my cravings! I got the dokbokki, bibimbap, and kimchi pancake and all three of them were chef's kiss, and so delicious!

Stopped by for lunch today at this new place in town! This place is a cafe style restaurant. You order at the counter & pay. Then, the wait staff brings your food to you. There is self service water and tea available for you to drink. Appetizers: Ddokbokki: small portion but so delicious! You get spicy rice cakes, fishcakes, and a half of hard boiled egg. Will definitely order this again. Dumplings: super crispy and yummy! This came in a serving vessel that has a spot built in for your dipping sauce! So cute! Both soy and gochujang are available at the table. Korean veggie pancake: 1 pancake cut into 4 pieces. Super crispy! Next time I'll try the kimchi version. Entrees: Bibimbap: we got 1 each of the beef bulgogi and the spicy bbq pork bibimbap. It was ok. Everything was really fresh, but I've had better. It was cool that they showcased a vegetable of the week. This week was cauliflower, so there was cauliflower in our bowl... which is unusual but it gave a nice textural crunchy contrast to the dish. Overall- would come back because the place is cute and for the appetizers!

Super excited to have a place like this in Mundelein! The food was very fresh and had the perfect amount of flavor. I got the bibim bap with teriyaki chicken and it was delicious, highly recommend! The service was also speedy and delightful.

Grand opening of the Mundelein location

Highly anticipated opening of Bibim Town in the Mundelein location, located in a plaza off of Butterfield Road and replaced the Red Lantern restaurant that was previously located here. They have an online ordering system, which we didn't use this time. We called and placed an order; owner was very friendly and explained much of the menu to me patiently over the phone. Interior was modern, clean, and well organized. They have boricha (barley tea) self-served style. I liked that they had a hand sanitizer on each table. They have two separate bathrooms. Menus were printed on the table and rolling displayed on monitors. Since it was their first day of opening, when we arrived the food was not yet ready, but they do have a family dining inside. We could tell it was a family-owned since it looks the parents were busying in the back, and the two grown kids in the front helping serve customers. They seemed a bit disoriented, but things are still orderly. Waited a while and got our order. Checkout payment system is by Square. Convenient and can't send to your phone. Now it comes to food. We were a bit disappointed by the serving sizes being kind of small relative to the price. But we may not have ordered right so will adjust in the future. Bibimbap with spicy pork on white rice -- the white rice was a bit dry and hard and cold, so maybe it's been sitting out? Not really used to iceberg lettuce used as it's usually cabbage, but it's fine. Everything was kinda small, but the spicy pork meat flavor was great. Not super spring either. I love that it is charred and definitely had the smoky Korean bbq flavor. The sunny side up egg addition was probably not worth it. It was well made but a bit cold by the time we picked it up. So I think I would skip that and just make it at home myself. Cupbop with bulgogi on black rice-- the black rice texture and softness was a lot better than the white rice, surprisingly. My guess is their first day they just didn't have a good batch or white rice. Bulgogi flavor was also really good. Veggies could be better I think, but it's fine, as there is still a variety. Also wished the size was bigger for the price. Dokkbokki-- again, flavor was great! Spice level is just right for me! But the serving size is kind of small and there weren't any or maybe just one piece of fish cake :(. Fried vegetable pancake-- again this was really good! Chewy and crunchy, and just the right amount of vegetable and consistency. But definitely on the small size for the price of it. I think similar pancakes served in Glenview/Niles area are either free appetizer/much cheaper/bigger. Overall, I think I'd still like to support this family-owned restaurant. I think everyone was just working hard to get through the first day so I'd definitely give them the benefit of doubt that it will get better with time. Definitely willing to try out some additional dishes!

While the concept of Bibim Town is appealing, my recent experience fell short of my expectations. Overall, the dishes I tried were underwhelming, lacking the vibrancy and flavor I associate with Korean cuisine. The biggest letdown was the pervasive sogginess that affected multiple dishes. The veggies, normally a textural highlight, were limp and watery. The kimchi pancakes, which should be crispy and savory, were sadly saturated and lacked any real kimchi punch. The dumplings, too, suffered the same fate, their wrappers falling flat and flavorless. The rice cake stew, while edible, failed to impress. It was more of a simmered mix of ingredients than a flavorful, cohesive dish. I missed the depth and complexity I typically find in Korean stews. Bibim Town has some work to do in terms of texture and taste. Addressing the sogginess issue and infusing dishes with bolder, more authentic flavors would go a long way in improving the overall experience. Also, the serving station for the veggies was literally bowls of veggies sitting on ice. They don't not look appealing and unfortunately tasted the same way.

A fantastic place to grab a delicious, balanced meal! They make a great bowl of bibimbap with a plentiful assortment of veggies (and meat for a small surcharge) over rice. I like how they give you the option between white rice and more healthful options such as purple rice. If you are confused like I was, the difference between the bibimbap, cup bap, and the ssam bap, is that the bibimbap is more veggie heavy, the cup bap has less veggies and a larger scoop of meat, and the ssam bap is like a bento entree with small fried dumplings on the side and what not. I also really enjoyed their spicy Korean ramen for $9. The flavor is reminiscent of an upgraded bowl of instant noodles, which of course is delicious. I would recommend adding an egg on top if possible. Perfect for a cold day!

What a great place! The food is delicious and full of beautiful veggies and fantastic meats. I had the side sauces, but everything was so good, it didn't need a thing on either of the main dishes. The woman who greeted me was polite and my food was ready exactly when it said it would be on my app. The dumpling and pancake that came with the second meal were crispy and came with a nice little soy dipping sauce. Such a nice break from my typical take out order, fresh and healthy. See my two photos for the two most popular dishes, you will not so wrong with either, however, this place is so affordable, order both and experience double the yum.

We love this place! Employees are so nice and attentive. Seating is always clean and spotless. Drinks are self-serve. We always get the veggie pancake, teriyaki tofu and pork, Bulgogi, dumplings, dukmandu, and ramen. All absolutely delicious and fulfilling. This has been our go-to Korean spot since it opened!

New favorite Bibimbap??? Absolutely!! Bibim town is a must try place for delicious Korean food! They offer vegan options and if there is something that isn't vegan in one of their dishes (for ex kimchi) they are more than happy to substitute for another veggie of choice! Love that you can pick your choice of white, brown, black rice or glass noodles for your base! I chose the noodles ($1 extra). Comes with 8 kinds of veggies (marinated spinach, soy bean sprouts, zucchini, carrots, iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, purple cabbage, white cabbage, weekly special veggie.) and choice of protein (additional $2). The only veg in the bibimbap that isn't vegan is their kimchi. I believe they substituted in the pickled cucumber. They also added some grated beet to our dishes . The protein of choice for us vegans is the tofu teriyaki which was out of this world! Don't forget to OMIT the egg as it does come with it! Lightly fried and covered in a tangy sweet teriyaki sauce with a sprinkling of sesame seeds on top! I loved everything in this dish and all the flavors complemented each other perfectly! I couldn't ask for a better Korean meal! Staff so friendly, helpful and eager to please! Truly appreciate their excellent service! $13.50

Our party of 5 was seated in one of their both grills right away on a Friday night. We ordered the dolsot bibimbop, the dak bulgogi, fried rice, and bbq A beef sampler. Hwang Dae Gham is located in a non-descript strip mall with some closed store fronts, so plenty of parking. My daughter and I were in town and needed to visit in the Northern suburbs, so afterwards decided to have lunch at a place that had meaning for us. Unfortunately, it was closed on Mondays so chose another Korean restaurant. Hwang Dae Gham ended up a great choice. We came soon after it opened, and it was already busy. It is a family owned business, and they obviously take great pride in their food and service. We had a chance to eat a lot of their non-BBQ offerings, and every one of them was excellent. Started with two appetizer portions: mul-mandu (small, bite-size steamed dumplings...supposed to be only pork but I swear I tasted seafood/fish in it...very good...reminded me of eating pelmini in it's size and density); the other was a small portion of japchae which we devoured...usually not a fan of this style of Korean mung-bean noodles, but really enjoyed it. We got two entrees (didn't share for once, so each got what we wanted). I got the squid bibim-bap (mixed rice in a stone bowl)...it's important to look at the pictures, cause it clearly explains the difference between the normal bibim-bap. They basically put a large portion of the squid-bokum, on top of rice...missing the normal cold greens. It was different, and I loved it. It was served with the requisite gochujang sauce, but you don't need it. It's already pre-seasoned. My daughter got the Gamja-Tang (spicy soup with potato and pork neck), and she really enjoyed it....like most Korean hot soups, great for a chilly February Chicago day. All of it comes with side dishes and purple rice. We especially liked the sweet glazed potatoes, picked cucumbers, and sliced mung bean pancake. Service was very warm and consistent throughout. It was just a beautiful opportunity to have a great meal and spend a lot of time with my adult daughter, reminiscing about the past and planning for the future. The entire Hwang Dae Gham environment was very conducive to that. I really wish I had two stomachs so I could sample the other dishes on the menu...all of it looked so good. We ended up bringing home most of the entrees, and it was delicious re-heated. Really inspires me to explore K-Town more when I get home.

This review is solely based on delivered food…read more It was interesting discovering the place for the first time. I was there to visit the bakery across the hall from them, when the name CM Chicken caught my eye. I was super weirded out by the fact that it was *inside* a mall, and still don't know exactly how I feel about it yet. Chicken n' beer places in my mind are usually "late-night" hangout spots that focus more on the drinking aspect if it, and malls are something I don't usually associate with late nights. Then again, it might just be nothing more than my personal preconceived notion. What do I know about how kids these days hang out, right? I do, however, consider it an amazing convenience to have a chicken place that's 10 minutes away from me that I can get Dash delivered any time I want. Most of the reviewer and all the photos they've posted gives me a rough idea that most of you have already tried the KFC -- Korean Fried Chicken of it all. As you may or may not know, there are plenty of competing brands out there. There also are varieties to choose from within each brand. CM differentiates themselves with their "Snow" chickens and "Green Onion" chickens. Add to that, this particular location, I've found has a very expansive menu, offering some of very traditional Korean style "anju" -- think bar grubs -- that gets me nostalgic. But, I'm not here to talk about that. I'm here to rant and rave about the CM Tong Dak today! Koreans call it the "Yet Nal Tong Dak," which roughly translates into "old school fried whole chicken." This is the stuff that gets us, gen-X'ers nostalgic about our childhoods back in Korea, where "salaryman" dads would bring home a giant brown-bagged chicken on their monthly pay day to treat the kids to a special dinner. We're talking '60s thru '80s, where Korea was not quite the first world country it is today, and was still being rebuilt. They didn't have access to crazy varieties of spices like today, so the only thing they used to fry up chickens was with basic flour plus salt n' pepper. Naturally, we have access to more spices that we can use to spice up the flavor, which is what CM does with theirs. In that, it's not exactly the same flavor as what I can recall from my childhood, but sure adds more flavor to it. As long as the method in which they're fried mimics the old, I'm happy. The differences between these kinds and any other KFCs are mainly two things; batter has to be super thin, so that you can get super crispy skin, and it must be fried whole, without being chopped apart. If you're some kind of a fried chicken connoisseur, let me tell ya, you *MUST* try these kinds of KFCs. Crispy skin with super moist, tender, juicy meat is crazy satisfying. This cannot be done if you were to chop the chicken up into multiple pieces, and can only be accomplished by deep frying the whole chicken. Add some pickled radish and salt/pepper for dipping, then accompany with some light beer to wash it down? Mm mmm mmmmm..!!! At my first visit, it definitely helped to be Korean, speaking Korean to the owner when I first discovered the place. He was super attentive in explaining what his schtick was all about. He could immediate tell that I come from the old world, where I would be less interested in all the side menus he'd created, so he only wasted his efforts in explaining what I should be focused on, which naturally was chicken. He could immediately tell that I was interested in CM Tong Dak, so he made sure to explain to me that it takes extra amount of time to cook up this types of chicken, so that I can manage my expectations when ordering. I didn't think I'd ever come to a mall to sit down and order a whole chicken to hoover down, so it didn't bother me. Plus all things considered, I was super impressed with the amount of time it took to get the Dash order delivered a few times. It would have taken me 15 minutes go, pick up, then another 15 minutes to come back. Delivery didn't take much longer than half hour from the time I ordered, and chickens were super hot both times. I was just exchanging a thought with my wife during tonight's dinner that we have it "easy" now, compared to what we would have had to have done, when we lived in less accessible places. People who live in large metropolitan areas with wide variety of ethnic cultures should *NOT* take these accessibilities for granted. Everyone should realize that there are plenty of semi-rural places all over the States, where immigrants yearn to replicate their favorite foods from memories, and be thankful for knowing what you know and having what you have. Alright, that last part was definitely an old man ranting. Forget the unnecessary preaching, but please do try the Tong Dak. You won't regret it!!
