Spring rolls, chicken lettuce wraps & Thai tea lemonade

Visiting the area from Cali! Cuisine fusion options had our group of 7 interested. Everyone found something they were happy with and all was delicious. Service was friendly, tentative and accommodating. I highly recommend; Thai Tea Lemonade (Cha Ma Nao) Ordered a 2nd one to go!

According to my boyfriend who lives in this area, it's hard to find good restaurants here. But one day I happened to discover this place that's really close to his home and he has never been! It's quite hidden in a corner near the Heinen's grocery store. There are other shops and stores nearby too. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the food here. Very tasty and nice presentation. It's rare that restaurants offer duck so I definitely had to get that! I also liked the platter because I could have a little of everything. I liked how a variety of seafood was in my boyfriend's noodles too. He said he wants to come here again!

It was after lunch, but it was before dinner, so we stopped in to get something small. The restaurant was empty. It has an elegant classy feel. We split a Bangkok sampler platter (satay and crab rangoons very good) and some soup. I had Tom Yum which was generous portion and sour and a little spicy. The server was very friendly although only approached us when I made eye contact or gave them a nod. Our food was good - I will add another star if we come back for dinner (this serves Thai and Japanese food).

Orange Chicken - Hot and tasty !

Strawberry margarita taste wasn't as expected - Bangkok Mai Tai way better - went on a Tuesday after work and slow paced- that's when it's empty. Ambiance was nice, pretty setting and I sat by the revolving fan. 100 degree weather outside - awesome place to be, Food was good had the salmon with side of fried rice and orange chicken- I recommend the place go when you have time, with friends or the whole family.

    Salmon Lemon

We really enjoyed the salmon lemon roll that we got. It was fresh and flavorful, and we will definitely get this sushi again for takeout in the future. One star was removed because the other dishes we got were just okay. The portions were a bit small and most our orange chicken was primarily fried breading.

Bangkok Tokyo Restaurant is definitely the spot for lunch. The lunch special is worth it. Ha, that being said, let me get into it. The food is very good. I feel everything is very fresh and you can really see that they care for the customers in every dish. I got the lunch special which was good considering I had to limit myself on certain types of food. So it was the right amount. The service was great our waitress really checked in often and they refilled our water often. Hard to find places where they do that for customers now a days. The atmosphere or ambiance like I call it, relay nice the lighting and decor inside really was refreshing as it wasn't too much. Overall, I would say BTR is really worth every penny and the food quality and tailored service for every customer / table really makes one feel like they are as important and everyone being served. Check'em out!

Best Breakfast around! Everything was so good...from the eggs, omelets, to the French toast. You've got to try the tycoon bacon too! And huge portions. Service is fantastic and the ambiance is lovely and relaxing.

This is the secret spot best brunch in town! The plating and presentation make it over the top. Don't miss brunch at Bangkok Tokyo! The scramble was unbelievable.

Pleasantly surprising delicious breakfast menu! The food was phenomenal, every flavor was Devine. Potatoes were the perfect crispiness, eggs were delicious and the jam that went along with it was fantastic! The service was great, the price of unlimited mimosas is unbeatable and honestly the price of the food was very fair too. Definitely my new breakfast spot!

Good Japanese and Thai food. Their noodle dishes and their bento boxes are always good. The beef teriyaki bento box is one we always order. And if you like spicy noodles- try the Pad Ki-Mao! It's really good! Do order the petite egg rolls too, you won't be disappointed! Unfortunately, last time we ate here the miso soup was a bit on the cold side. my son ordered the salmon sashimi entree and he couldn't eat it for a while. The salmon was too cold (almost as if it was taken out of the freezer an hour before). This is a small restaurant with 1-2 waitresses at any given time and service is usually good and it's kid friendly!

Fresh Summer Rolls (1 whole one cut into 4) for $7.75!
    Michael A.

Most likely our first and last visit to this mediocre Thai restaurant. All of the food entrees we ordered were small in portion size and taste were not good at all. The frickin' Chicken Noodle Soup was basically a small cup, which they charged $7.75 for! The Fresh Rolls were cut into 4 pieces from 1 whole one and that was for $7.75 as well! Pad Ki-Mao had the wrong kind of noodles ans seasoning used! Some were spicier than expected, with other ingredients and seasoning not matching the noodles and veggies at all! I have eaten plenty of Thai food in my life to know what is authentic and delicious Thai food and this place does not have it! Even the Chicken Pad Thai was off!! And that is a popular Thai dish to almost everybody! Not sure what kind of recipes the chefs and sous chefs are using, but they really need to change/modify the menu. Can't go that wrongly if you want to cook up some good Thai food. Come on now!!!

This is by far the best Asian food in the area. The curry dishes as well as the sushi are incredible. Pineapple curry chicken is to die for.

Stopped in for dinner after a Tuesday at Six Flags…read more There was one party getting ready to leave, other than that, we were it. There seemed to be only two people working as well, the Hibachi chef, and the Sushi chef. Typical Hibachi /Sushi menu, however on the hibachi side it seemed that we got smaller portions that at other restaurants. Soft drinks are cans (no refills) and water was bottles from Costco at $3 ea. The staff was very friendly and attentive, especially since there weren't any other customers in the building. While the decor is "traditional ", the space itself could really use some upkeep and cleaning. The range hoods over the cooktops were greasy, and the ceiling vents were dark grey/ black, and desperately needed cleaning. Many of the ceiling tiles had water stains, and just had a dingy appearance. If I'm ever back in the area I'd try a different place if going for Hibachi.

Racist treatment and price gouging at Ichiban Steakhouse, Gurnee, IL…read more I came to Ichiban Steakhouse in Gurnee, IL with my three children after our original restaurant choice was closed and it was raining. What should have been a nice night out with my kids turned into one of the most disrespectful experiences I've had at a restaurant. A woman who I later realized was a co-owner was working the front as if she were just a hostess, and never disclosed that she owned the business. Throughout the visit, she made a string of comments and actions that made clear this wasn't about hospitality: She commented that my son was "cute for a black child." While I was in the restroom, she approached my 17-year-old daughter and asked her why I was "so mad." While I was trying to clarify my kids' order with her, she cut in to tell me she'd "been doing this job for years," rather than actually listening to what we needed. She emphasized extremely long wait times for sushi in a way that felt designed to discourage us from staying. Her body language and tone throughout made it clear she didn't want us there. I watched her demeanor change completely, becoming all smiles with white patrons who came in during our visit. A Hispanic family seated near us witnessed the entire interaction, and their reactions made clear they understood exactly what was happening. We were charged $43 for a single glass of apple juice, 2 bottles of water, 4 side salads, and clear soup, all of which came with meals and service that was subpar at best. I paid it because my children were with me and I didn't want to make a scene in front of them, but I want to be clear: I paid so I could leave with my dignity intact, and so I'd have the standing to fully describe what happened here, not because the charge or the treatment was acceptable. I wanted to give my kids a nice night out. Instead, they watched their mother get condescended to, questioned, and charged an absurd amount by someone who couldn't even be honest about being the owner. As a Black woman and someone who genuinely loves going out to eat, I will not be back, and I want other families -- especially families of color -- to know what to expect here before they walk in.

This is not too far from the mall. Usually Asian restaurants don't really focus on the interior decor unless they are upscale. My favorite items to get here are the Tom Yum soup, they let you choose the protein and the spice level and have an option for both bowl or a cup. The cup is about a pint size which is a great portion. I love getting the Tofu with this soup because I feel like it soaks in the flavor and breaks up the yummy spices. For the different levels of spice, just a heads up that there is a huge difference for a medium in a cup versus a medium in a bowl. Both are delish, but the cup medium is SPICY in the best way. I also really enjoy their basil fried rice with chicken. You can take the sauteed char from the basil and the medium in this is also spot on for us. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to try a higher heat, because Thai chilis are no joke! All in all, we frequent here often since moving up here and are so glad to have a staple in the area and in our regular rotation.
