Am a senior on Social Security This January 2019 charged me $4.25 a gallon They said I don't use enough propane. Was a customer since 1999. Raised tank rental from $50 a year to $119 No longer a customer, recommended shopping around. Buy local read more

Do not use this company! They are CROOKS! They're known for charging customers for propane fills that were never done! Such a scam! I'm now using Ferrel gas company and am very happy with their service. They call before coming out and give detailed invoices after each fill. read more

The company seems inept. They cannot schedule delivery of propane in an rational manner. They almost never fill the tank on a monthly basis as they say they will. The tank goes to such a low level that all pilot lights go out and they cannot fill the tank until they have someone who can come check for leaks and relight the pilot lights. The company claims that they have some prediction algorithm that tells them when to fill the tank; however, the dates they claim they are supposed to fill the tank are a month after the tank is "empty." The receptionist seems completely lost and cannot solve any problems. When company executives come on the line, I am given stories explaining why the problem developed and that it was just a freak failure. The freak failure occurs every month.... read more

I worked for them for a very short time. The guys in the field were great, but the management is an absolute disaster. They are losing customers and employees left and right. Dozens of their customers run out of propane each and every day. Somehow, the management thinks that's perfectly ok. If they're your propane supplier, don't be surprised when your heat goes off and your family is freezing in the middle of the night. They make jokes about how bad the company is, how many people are quitting them and how the phone system hangs up on customers when they call to complain. I've never seen such a horribly run company! They are a complete joke! Switch to Comstock Propane! They are good people who value and take care of their customers!!! read more

They have over priced propane! We have a bill for 600+ 3.68 a gallon for 160 gallons. That's also with the 109 tank rental. Called and talked to one of the lady's. She said she had gotten my bill down to 568 again after getting us locked into 1.98 price. Called to make a payment to find out the bill never changed. And the original 136 payment was now going to be 168. When I kept asking about what we talked about all I got was ya that didn't include your tank rental. Ummm I'm pretty sure u told me it did. I'm almost positive she got in trouble for helping me out like she did. They've came out twice since the original fill up. Just so I can turn them back around and say we're on a payment plan. And don't want it filled up. Can't afford the price they charge: There only out to Make a buck. They don't care about the customer. Can't wait to switch to someone else. read more

I have been using Bi-State Propane for almost 4 years. Needless to say, I am no longer using them, for some very serious reasons. When I first began using Bi-State, it was the first time I had ever used propane. My husband and I were renting the place, so we did not have any choice which company to use. The customer service was passable back then; because my husband and I both work full-time during the day, it is difficult to take time off for propane refills, and we need to be home for this because we have dogs. Bi-State used to offer approximate times when they would come fill the tank, which made it easier to take only 1-2 hours off instead of an entire day. When my husband and I bought a house, the tank already on the property was again Bi-State. Since we had been using them, we decided to keep them. However, after the initial fill (we rarely use proprane in this house, so we don't need it often), it became impossible to work with them. I don't know if it has anything to do with being bought by Amerigas, but all of a sudden they were refusing to give me a time frame to come fill the tank, and even said they had never done this in the past (apparently they were not aware that I had been a long-time customer). After the outright lying and ridiculous rates (as well as being forced to switch to a smaller tank so I wouldn't get charged a "low usage fee"), I decided to switch to a locally owned and operated company. The prices are great, service is amazing, and they gave me a 1-hour window (and actually showed up on time!) If you live in the Reno/Sparks area, I highly suggest switching to Palomino Propane. This new company alerted Bi-State that I had decided to switch, and sent a letter outlining the Nevada law that states they have 30 days to refund the amount of propane remaining in the tank. After receiving several incorrect "Credit Memos" and calling their company SEVEN TIMES with no return phone call over the course of 2 weeks, I finally got ahold of someone who told me she would overnight the refund check that day. 4 days letter, still no check. Called again, they stated they were waiting for "credits to clear the account." As of yesterday, I was told AGAIN that I would be overnighted a refund check, and that I would get a call first thing in the morning with the routing # since it was being mailed FedEx. I have yet to receive a call today. I have already filed a complaint with the BBB and am planning on physically going down to their office today (which is unfortunate, since that means I have to take time off work). Avoid Bi-State! No cutomer service, lack of any attention (the manager who I spoke with stated "it was my fault; don't be mad at the company, be mad at me), rates are not decent, and apparently they have a huge problem refunding money that doesn't belong to them! As far as I am concerned, since it has now been 42 days with no refund from them, they have broken Nevada law and are now committing THEFT. Use a local company if you can (especially if you are in the Reno area). read more

"Customer service is our highest priority" What a crock! Multiple missed appointments. Paid 6 days ago and they said they'd be here yesterday, then they said today, still no call, no show. Called the corporate emergency line and they said they have up to 10 days to deliver, funny they never metioned that when I called the last 5x! Now I have no hot water, so they want to charge me a 250$ emergency delivery! Sounds like a racket to me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE CROOKED AND LIARS, DON'T BE FOOLED. BI STATE PROPANE YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES! "Customer service is our highest priority" what a load of bull...... read more

After Changing Propane provider, sending stop service email to BiState and not receiving any service for 4 mos, they filled up my tank costing me $150.00 more for Propane this month. No apology, just told me I was wrong. This company is very expensive and not customer oriented. read more

I have been a customer for about 4 yrs. Propane prices are always the biggest concern and all things being equal we would switch companies for better prices and have a couple of times. The customer service dept at Bi State is really the selling factor for me. We make mistakes, forget to call for a delivery, run out of propane etc... just like other people but the girls in the Sparks office really go out of their way to help fix the situation. They have saved us from running out of propane twice in the 4 yrs we have been with them and both times were our own fault. They are super nice and understanding on the phone and for me i feel you can't put a price on that type of understanding and caring from another human being:) I strongly recommend them to my neighbors. read more

Changed companies due to price and add on fees. Reportedly I was to receive a refund within a couple of weeks once the tanks were picked up, that was June and I'm still waiting. While a customer service was good. read more

Not really sure where the hate is coming from with Tammie C. I have a Keep Full program. They come out and fill my tank intermittently. If I think they need to come sooner, I call and they are there in a few days. Propane is expensive but my neighborhood has a decent negotiated rate. Not sure what else you need from a propane company? read more

Bi-state just bought out Amerigas. Expect the same customer service (near none)Ferrellgas is the next largest vender in Reno area . I own my tank and call at least two to three before fill up. Price varies by approx. or up to a dollar per gallon. Shop around/ fill when propane is cheapest (August) Warm time, no one wants to buy. Own a tank large enough to buy once or twice a year . Pay cash no credit for better price. The above merger was not to give me better service but to control pricing in the area. GOOOOD LUCK read more

I've been a customer for years (10+). I was on a call for fill service for years when I didn't use much propane. When propane cost dropped way below fuel oil I switched to a keep full service (I have two heater - one propane and one fuel oil). Sometime they have a little trouble figuring out when I need to be filled. That's because I burn firewood too and I would vary on how much I used of each. But I just kept an eye on the tank level and called them if I needed propane sooner then they thought. The always took care of me. My driveway is long and can get very muddy. They are very accommodating on working with me on getting in between the storms, when the driveway could dry out. read more

Just got off the phone with Bi-State Propane, Today is Jan 30th, 2017. Last time they filled my tank was Dec 6, 2016. They are supposed to fill it monthly. Not done, now out of propane. I called them at 8.00 a.m. sharp to get this resolved, the lady who answered the phone was very nice and professional, She apologized for the tank not being refueled earlier and promised someone would be out within next two hours to remedy this. Three hours later I called back as no one had arrived and I have to go to work. A different lady answered the phone and told me someone would be out here sometime this afternoon. I informed her very nicely that I had been told within 2 hours. She replied " Sorry about that" Well I pay my bills all in a timely manner, In full.. I pay Bi-State Propane in an expedient way. You screwed up my monthly delivery, NOT ME. So....... I am actively looking for a new Company to do business with, You are obviously to successful and rich to need my business. I have been in Reno for 50 Years and know hundreds of people personally, I plan to tell everyone I can , of your total incompetence and general, " kiss your ass" attitude..... By the way. Reading other reviews of your company, I guess a lot of people feel the same way. read more

We have been patrons of Amerigas for some 30 of the 38 years we've lived in Lemmon Valley and always had good service. I look forward to the same quality service from Bi-State Propane. I often call the local office in Sparks and usually get through and get responses to my questions, unless they're exceptionally busy. read more

I have been with bistate for years and during this time I have been notified about fillups because of my dogs, Last night I ran out of propane, apparently because of the weather they could not get here, I called the emergency line and was told they would get ahold of a driver, who would contact me on an arrival time. a few hours later, I called to find out what was going on, and was told sometime in the morning, I said to have the driver call us when enroute, but was told the drivers are not allowed to use their phones during work hours, so, my husband and I had to sit by our fire pit to try to stay warm. what kind of policy, and what kind of business would cause their customers to suffer while waiting, when one phone call could have allowed us to at least be somewhere warm till they could get here? right now I'm having second thoughts on my choice. I do own my tank, and can go else where read more

horrible people. we were getting low on propane at our home in the mountains. we knew that storms were predicted so we called on the first clear day to schedule delivery. we were told the delivery would be that day, but the truck didn't come that day. we've called almost daily for the last few days (sometimes multiple times) and were PROMISED that the delivery would be here today (Friday!) before noon. no truck, no call. I called again this afternoon at about 4:30pm to see if there was any chance they might still be coming and was told that someone would email the person responsible and ask them to call me. are you kidding? I asked whether they might deliver tomorrow (Saturday) nobody knew. I tried calling back a few minutes later at about 4:40 and the offices were CLOSED. on the internet it says they're open until 5pm. I called the national "emergency" number, got a recording that said they'd call me back in 69 minutes (I'm not making this up). We'll see if they do. Monday is a holiday. I hope we make it to Tuesday without running out of fuel to heat the house. And then, what are the chances that they actually get here by Tuesday?? As soon as it thaws out around here so that tanks can be changed over I'm changing companies. read more
