I've hired Max and BG movers for packing and moving three times within Manhattan in the past six years, and referred them to half a dozen friends. They've helped me through a seventh floor walk-up, and a building with the world's smallest elevator. There was also a building that, due to a building error, tried to not let me move in and would have forced all my belongings into storage for two days, which would have been catastrophic - Max talked things through with the doorman and managed to get me moved in that day, with his team staying until almost midnight because of the delay caused by the building. I really appreciate that they're so consistent, such that when it comes time to move I don't have to spend time comparing a bunch of quotes, researching movers, checking to see if the reviews are fake, etc. The peace of mind that comes from just being able to call my go-to movers, knowing I won't get scalped on the price and that nothing is going to break, is priceless. I literally see the relief on my friends' faces when I mention I have movers I really love and recommend. I never write reviews but want to help this team grow because they've been so great across my multiple moves, and they deserve to be better known. Anyway, this is why BG is the best: 1) The price is flat and doesn't move. There's a flat quote at the beginning for packing and moving, and that's the amount you pay at the end. No nickel and dime-ing over packaging materials, claims that there's actually more stuff, etc. The quote is not hourly so there's no incentive to be inefficient. They used to be a great deal but pricing has gone up and now I would say the pricing is fair. 2) I've never had anything break or get scuffed, including huge mirrors, paintings, china, and delicate objets d'art. Granted, I know this is because they're doing the packing also. They're SO smart when it comes to packing and do a way better job than I would do on my own. They pack in an incredibly thoughtful manner that maximizes your unpacking efficiency later. My makeup brushes which are tucked in open cups were packed and loaded in such a way such that they never moved upside down during transit, so when unpacking they were all upright in their original cups. There's no leakage in my bathroom bottles, and they also know which ones have lids that need to be taped and which ones you can skip the tape (so that unpacking is easier). During COVID, my partner moved a total of three times, including out of state. The guys at BG Moving made these moves a lot more manageable and less stressful. They're such professionals and I am always surprised by how quickly they get things done, while keeping all my items protected and in the same condition. Aside from their great work, they're super friendly. Their services are also a lot more affordable than most moving companies in NYC. He always answered our questions and gave us a great quote for our long distance move. The movers confirmed our scheduled mobe the day before, showed up on time, respected all COVID-19 protection guidelines and wrapped all furniture for best protection. I recently used BG Moving in a move at the end of January to move from the UES to Harlem. I, like many of you know that moving is stressful no matter what and in NYC we have a million moving companies to choose from to get the job done. Since I've owned a small business in the city for the pst 12 years, I did my research and wanted to give the business of my move to a small company. BG Moving had a great reviews. I received a quote for all my items (sent pictures over of the larger stuff) and mentioned the 3rd floor walkup for the pick up location. The morning of the move my partner stayed at the old apartment, while I took my baby to the new place to wait for everything. The move was rocky and sadly I cannot give them a 5 star review or say that I would recommend or rebook this company. Here are the issues I ran into: - They showed up 40 minutes late to the job. They did call me around 15 minutes late, saying they were close?!? - I was assured that all movers would be wearing masks and cover safe via email before the job. This was important to us, since we have a young baby. When they arrived at the new apartment 2 out of the 3 movers were not masked. I was a bit surprised and stayed in the babies room to keep social distance apart from them. If this was the case at the pick up location, I would've asked them to leave. We've been uber safe during the past year. - They left both doors into the apartment buildings taped wide open when they left both sites. Anyone could've come in and out of the buildings. - 2 items were broken, one they were able to repair onsite and the other I emailed the owner about after the move. - The quote included assembly and disassembly. They only did this for our bed, the legs of the couch and other items were left to us to do. Which was fine, if that wasn't in the quote of what we were paying for. I did reach out to the owner of the company before writing this review to also let them know about the masks/safety. I was really worried as our health was at risk after having them in our apartment. She did say the movers who weren't wearing masks won't receive full pay for the job (I'm assuming she'll keep the rest?). She refunded us $100, but to be honest I hardly feel that is fair considering the move was $950. We didn't want a full refund on the job, moving is work hard. We know that a 3rd floor walkup is no joke and lots of labor is involved. Having said that, we did expect some apology and understanding. Not excuses to why they weren't wearing masks, were late with trucks not being allowed on the FDR etc. I think a refund of $300 would've been fair with the multiple issues we had go wrong during our move. Sadly.. I wouldn't book them again and wouldn't suggest you do either. read more

Maksim and the team were really great! I moved from Bushwick to Boerum Hill, and the movers got it done in less than half a day. They were very communicative, and they didn't nickel and dime me along the way. They wrapped EVERYTHING, and took extra care of all my stuff. BG movers were fabulous. They moved several large items ( e.g., heavy wood desk, large wall unit, love seat, baker's rack, tables, lamps and a rug.) from Manhattan to New Jersey. They were professional, friendly and reasonably priced. All the items were wrapped, boxed and treated with care, including fragile glass shelves. Nothing was damaged in the move. I had an amazing experience with BG Moving. I was offered a great quote and they were very accommodating with my new building's insurance requirements as well. They arrived on time, made sure that everything was properly packed (wrapped with blankets furniture that wasn't protected) and quickly loaded and unloaded the track, also making sure that everything was placed where I wanted it in the new apartment.
