I looked over the pastries at the BF pastry store inside the 99 ranch store and they were bringing out new pastries from the back. The red bean buns looked pretty good so I bought one of those and then their almond buns looked really fresh so I bought that as well. I prefer the almond bun much more than the red bean because the almond bun was a little more buttery and the red bean was just a little plain. There was only one cashier and she was helping one other customer, which led to the line backing up at the register with people who were waiting to check out. I really prefer if they could just bag up their pastries in their case just like 85 bakery because it seems to be more sanitary when the buns are already bagged up. However, I did speak to someone about considering bagging them up and instead of just having the customers use tongs to put on a wax paper on a tray and bring them all up to the cashier. The employee said that that was just their process. Also, I do think that the line would go much faster if they did pre-bag the small pastries in a bag since the cashier actually bags each of the individual buns herself, which I don't think is very sanitary since she accepts the money and the credit cards and gives out the receipts, so that's just my thought.

The bakery is located inside 99 Ranch Market. You get your tray and select the items from the case that's out in the open. We selected a few pastries and a few cake pieces from the front case. Everything was packaged nicely and the cake pieces were delicately placed in a nice box with a handle. I grew up eating pastries like these, so I wasn't wow'd about anything. But I will say this, the custard in one of the items was perfect for my liking as it wasn't overly sweet. Same goes for the cake pieces, there were both super light and airy... like a cloud and just the right amount of sweet. The white cake slice was mango flavored, but you could hardly taste the mango. The strawberry mousse was perfect in flavor and texture. I will come back for the mousse cake in different flavors.

Q: What did one bored Baker say to the other? A: You knead to have fun. Any time I'm by a bakery (especially an Asian bakery), I gotta pop in and check out the goodies. I had a chance to stop by 99 Ranch Market during the soft opening, before this never-ending madness of customers overtook every inch of this supermarket, and bought some treats to try. I wish the crowds would settle down already because I want to buy more good eats! I picked up a fresh-out-of-the-oven Portuguese egg tart and a hot dog cheddar bun and they were both delicious. The bread part of the bun was so insanely good and it left me wanting more. Pillowy, soft, and oh-so-easy to tear apart. I was impressed. As for the Portuguese egg tart, it was amazing! Flaky crust, custardy, and not too sweet. It was a great tart! Every baked goodie was pre-wrapped and you pick everything up with some supplied tongs. From what I could tell, most of the small baked items are around $2. They're on the left-hand side of 99 Ranch Market when you walk in but you can surely just follow the scent of freshly baked bread! They also sell drinks here.

    Bbq pork bun!

What do u think BF stands for? Must be BEST FREAKIN Bakery & Cafe! If you're looking for buns, they got u covered hun! Their selection is second to none here! I only got the bbq pork bun ($2.50), custard bun ($1.99), & taro bun ($1.99). My favorite by far was the bbq pork bun. The taro bun lacked taro flavor, and the custard bun wasn't as creamy & sensual as I usually like my custard to taste. My one request is for milk pudding bun that's made exactly like 85 degree bakery in Cali. 5 stars to u BF bakery if u make it happen!

Everything we tried was fresh and yummy! I'll be back for sure. We got the warm taro, cheese and cream filled buns. The cheesecakes and savory breads looked yummy as well.

Pretty good! I'm a fan of any Asian style bakery and I knew I had to check out BF after shopping at 99 Ranch Market. They have all sorts of breads, buns and cakes for a carb lover's paradise, in addition to drinks. Some tempting flavors I saw were a flaky taro and cream cheese pastry, pandan cupcakes, mango cupcakes, and pork sung+ green onion bread. Everything is pre-wrapped for easier and safer access. Prices for most baked goods seemed to be around $2. The taro puff pastry I had was filled with a lot of delicious taro, and the pastry itself was alright. Only the very outermost layer was flaky while the rest of the dough was more chewy and tender. I also enjoyed the pandan and mango cupcakes I bought. They were sizable, with a pillowy soft texture. It was like eating a fluffy pound cake and I could detect both pandan and mango flavors in the cake.

99 Ranch just opened up and so did BF bakery inside of the market! Gorgeous cakes, hot bread coming out throughout the day, and beautiful, expansive selection. They have savory and sweet items as well as drinks. Can't wait to come again (after the crowd dies down haha)!

I think this place needs more of a selection. The checkout is pretty confusing. I would like more variety.

Walking in…read morefor the first time, it was so much fun seeing the huge variety of baked goods, breads, pastries, sandwiches, desserts, and drinks they had to offer. There were so many options that it honestly took me a while to decide what I wanted! I really liked the self-serve bakery concept because it lets you browse at your own pace and pick out whatever catches your eye. They have a great mix of both sweet and savory items, along with an extensive drink menu featuring both hot and cold beverages, so there's truly something for everyone no matter what you're craving. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and flavorful. The pastries were light and delicious, and the drinks paired perfectly with the food. You can definitely tell they take pride in the quality of what they serve. The only thing I'd mention is that they don't accept American Express. It wasn't an issue for me since I had another payment method, but it's something to keep in mind before visiting. Overall, this was a fantastic first experience, and I can definitely see why so many people recommend 85°C Bakery Cafe. Between the incredible selection, fresh-tasting food, delicious drinks, and unique bakery experience, I'll definitely be back to try even more of their menu.

I loved 85c when I visited the one in Orange County but was slightly disappointed by this location:…read moreslow to make your drink and not as much selection of pastries. Located right next to 99 ranch and other Asian stores, 85c has Asian pastries, cookies, breads and drinks. We enjoyed a few baos with cream filling, a slice of coffee cake and the black milk tea. I usually don't get chocolatey things at Asian bakeries because they rarely "do" chocolate well, and it was the same here: the chocolate chip cookie and black forest cake were only okay and just not rich enough with a cocoa taste. Sign up for their rewards program to get discounts and promotions, even though you have to buy quite a bit to get anything and the points expire. Compared to non-Asian bakeries, everything is a much more reasonable price overall. A few tables are available, though I can imagine it being crowded. Still would love to get an 85c closer to home!

We've only been to the one in Old Town Mesa, by the fine art theater. Just glad its not next door, because I'd start living there! Not to sound like a hoity toity food snob, (kind of like when someone says they are not a "conspiracy theorist," but then they go into great lengths about conspiracies -- I'll be a snob here. Their pastries and breads are next level. They aren't just baking an excellent product (which would be enough to make me happy in area that lacks artisan bakers) they are "crafting" baking art. I hate to compare to the European Bakery craft (because there are plenty of great American bakers) but Europe does have that as a trademark (at least France, Switzerland, Germany, and Italy.) If all I ate eat each day was one of their croissants, it would be enough - theirs just flake away from the outside, and then a tender airy sourdough inside. Pain au Chocolate - excellent. Croissant - excellent. Oh -- Chocolate Chuck cookie - unbelievable. Best I've ever had. Chewy, buttery, crunchy. Not caky. I'll be heading back for sourdough bread and other goodies. No photos - I eat the goods too fast.

I know they're vegetarian, but I wanted to double check with her. She responds as "vegetarian means no meat, right"? All employees working at a food establishment should know what vegetarian means. This was quite baffling to hear. I asked her for a new slice because the one that was out on display was visibly burned and the other slice was touching pepperoni from the meat pizza. As mentioned, I'm a vegetarian. Therefore, I could not have either one of those slices. She proceeds to say that's how the pizzas are. They are slightly burned because they are so sourdough. While I can accept this answer, I do not accept the fact that she would not be willing to give me another slice as a paying customer. She insensitively said she can't give me a new one until all the old slices are taken up. She mentioned that this is their procedure. According to this, they are saying that they will not provide a proper product unless the old, damaged product, or unacceptable by the customer is used up first. If this is their business model, then it is apparent they do not value customer service. This business should have the competence to understand that if they want to sell a product, they cannot sell it in a condition that the customer is not satisfied with. Most importantly, being a vegetarian, they should have the sensitivity to understand that if a slice is touching the meat product then they cannot consume it. And again, the employee completely disregarded my health and religious beliefs by not accommodating me. You usually won't encounter problems when you're just trying to buy bread. However, it reflects on the business's employees greatly when there is a problem and they do not value customer service by resolving or accommodating the customer's satisfaction. I will be switching to Noble exclusively. Especially since it's so readily available at the farmers markets and stores.
