The Fix is a friendly, welcoming salon, and I have enjoyed getting my hair cut and colored here for the past few years. I started coming here when my hairstylist Leah Frankson moved over from her prior salon in Kapahulu. It says a lot that I would brave traffic on the Pali Hwy just to get my hair cut by Leah, but she is worth it. I lived in NYC for two decades, and had my hair cut at the legendary Bumble & Bumble salon. Leah is the only hairstylist I've found on Oahu who has given me beautiful layered haircuts time after time. Not just technically beautiful haircuts, but simple cuts that flatter my face shape and suit my lifestyle. Leah has recently transferred to the nearby Goddess Aesthetics Salon, and as much as it pains me to leave the Fix, I will be following her there. Ultimately, I am loyal to the artist rather than the establishment, and I would like to support her in her professional development. If you have had unsatisfactory cut/color experiences on Oahu, I highly recommend Leah. She has fixed bad dye jobs/cuts I've gotten, plus she is a really sweet and nice person. Support excellence and talent! You won't regret it. read more

I never knew there was this salon until I discovered it on instagram. Parking over here can be hard to find and is metered. The salon is very clean and has a lot of chairs. I got my hair done by Hailey who is currently an assistant. I got a cut and balayage and it came out great! Hailey is very professional and she followed exactly what I wanted. Definitely would recommend trying out this place. read more

Kahea is amazing. She did exactly what I wanted. It only took me 5000 years to find the perfect stylist ! I showed her pics and she took it from there & now I feel beautiful again because of her magical touch. She's very sweet, easy to talk to & really listens to what you are wanting. Wow...very disappointed with everything besides the guy at the front :) Wendi was my stylist and I must say wow she is not personable at all!!... I showed her so many pictures for a cut and color but she still failed to deliver not once but twice!! I can go into so many disappointing details with you but I will save you the headache!! I highly recommend the owner to train their stylists better before charging so much and not get what you payed for!! read more

My first time getting a real haircut in ages and I'm glad it was with Gizell at Beyond the mirror. This is the first time my hair has been short in over a decade and the first time I actually love my natural hair She did such a great job at bringing out my curls! I get compliments from a ton of people and I can't stop obsessing over my hair. Everyone at BTM was really nice and I would recommend checking them out because they do great work. read more

I've been getting my hair colored and cut here over the past 3 years. It's easy to book appts, the price point is fair, it's a nice space and most importantly, everyone I've had has been kind, professional, and super proficient. I just got an AWESOME cut by Cale - I have long thick hair and he did a GREAT job of lightening the load and giving my hair much-needed shape. For me, it's totally worth driving town-side to Kailua. Needed a total refresh on my blonde highlights and decided to try BTM. I can be really picky about my highlights and hadn't had a full set in awhile so was feeling a little nervous. Selah was so sweet and did an amazing job giving me my brightness back! Super happy with the color and the cut she gave me, keeping my length and adding in some framing layers. The salon itself was such a nice, friendly and comfortable vibe. Would 10/10 recommend! read more

Let me start off by saying I have super thick curly hair, Courtney had tackled my mane and brought me back to life! Courtney specializes in curly hair which helps a lot since there is a special way to cut it so it styles nicely. She listened to what I wanted and gave me great advice about how to go and what steps to take next. The salon is super clean and cheek! They've taken awesome precautions during Covid as well, which is a total plus. Definitely recommend coming here! read more

This place is awesome! I've had some really not so great hair experiences since last year. I came in for a cut and wanted to talk color. Selah was soo kind and welcoming. She's a very talented gal. The shampoo and condition process was ahhhmazing. I will be going back for my color with her. It was very clean and liked the vibe. I also thought the prices were very reasonable. read more

I have been going to Giselle for a few years now, and my hair has never looked so good. I have very naturally curly hair and it is difficult to get the right cut on this type of hair. She is very willing to work with me on the color. Almost every time I go in I change something with the color. And I get the best compliments!! I love going and just enjoying the pamper time. I have also used the esthetician for eye brow waxing, and she is an extreme perfectionist. They definitely were not over waxed. This is the only place that has not taken off skin. I keep going to this salon for the service and especially the professional job. The only downside is the parking, be sure to put in enough coins, they do ticket! But I recommend the salon handsdown read more

Elle is so sweet and cute and talented. I had the best haircut with her. This place was easy to book online, easy to park and find, and a way brighter and happier feel than the hair salon that used to take the same spot in the shopping center. I'll definitely be back. read more

Let me just say that Selah is amazing at what she does and is such a sweetheart! I came to her to do my hair because I desperately needed a cut. She was so welcoming from the moment I walked in. Such a cute and bubbly girl. I'm usually so picky about my hair and who I trust to cut it but she blew me away. She was very attentive to what I wanted, kept my length while also added in some cute layers as well. I'm extremely satisfied with how it turned out. I've finally found my go-to stylist. Thanks babe for doing such an awesome job! I'll be coming back to see you soon. read more

Highly Recommend. Great experience seeing Gizell today. I suffered a really bad haircut elsewhere pre-covid and have been trying to grow it out. I finally went in for help and Gizell was outstanding. She is super knowledgeable and understood my hair texture. She did her best repairing the damage and educated me on how to better care for my hair. It will be a process getting it 100% right, but I left feeling happy and relieved. The salon is stylish and clean with friendly staff. They are taking proper covid precautions. I will definitely be back. read more

I went there twice and I can't help but to read the AWESOME reviews of this place. Elle did my hair and I tipped her well. I thought she did a good job. I wanted to return to Elle to do a retouch and highlights and she blew me off. I thought because I rescheduled only that one time because of other circumstances. She even gave me her personal cell number so I could get a hold of her for another appointment. Come to find out, she changed her number. So I called the shop to leave a message with her twice and just didn't return my call. I felt ignored. I figured for the amount of money I spent there, I would have Atleast gotten a call back. So she ignored me. I've had a personal hair stylist but she moved. It's sad how you pay all this money and this is the first time ever to get no customer satisfaction. Anyways, I just wanted to share my experience there. Now, I've been going to another salon that welcomes me with ALOHA. They're very professional and my hair feels so healthy with the products that was on sale too. But definitely, not going to this place ever again. I go to where I feel appreciated because of the friendly staff & better atmosphere!!!! read more

ok, so i know waxing can be a pain, figuratively and literally, however, I cannot recommend Anna Shoemaker and Beyond the Mirror highly enough. I recently lost my hairdresser of 15+ years (she moved) and did some research for a new hairdresser. I always get my hair done every 4-5 weeks. I went to see Gizell and was extremely impressed! She does such a great job with my color, highlights and trims. I get constant compliments on my hair! She also does my daughter's hair and she does such a great job with her hair as well. Gizell's new salon is very big with lots of room and her staff is great as well, I feel so welcome when I come in. Parking is never a problem and there is a great selection of hair products too. Her Salon also offers waxing and eyelash extensions, I've done both and loved it. I highly recommend Beyond the Mirror and especially Gizell to be your next forever hairdresser. :) read more

I had an appointment with Gizell this morning and I am SO happy! I was concerned before my appointment that my hair felt weird and didn't look the way I wanted it too, but Gizell assured me that she would take great care of my hair and make it look exactly how I wanted. After a full set of highlights, a toner, and a mask, my hair feels super soft and is exactly the color that I wanted. I have naturally dark brown hair and my hair is now super blonde and I love it! We even came up with a plan to help get my hair to be as healthy as possible. I completely trust Gizell and will be using her for all of my future hair needs. She helped bring back that confidence which goes "beyond the mirror" and I am so thankful. Thanks Gizell :) The salon itself is also amazing and super clean. They did a really good job with the interior and the whole staff was extremely welcoming and kind. read more

I've been a client of the owner (Gizell) for years. Practically my entire family goes to her for their hair and always leaves 100% satisfied. Tonight was no different. It was my first time at this new salon and it's very nice inside along with a super welcoming staff. Now onto the cut. My hair was super ratchet from being locked away for 3 months in quarantine so I needed a miracle and I got just that! I got my hair highlighted and cut and it came out great! Past salon experiences have left my hair crunchy or even incorrectly colored. If you're looking to get a color that's long lasting and more importantly, what you ask for, come here! Thank you Gizell!! read more
