I'm in the market for a new stylist, since I'm moving from Hudson, Ma (but I will ALWAYS BE #GRANNIEHUDSONEATSOUT!), and this was the first Aveda salon I tried. It is a cozy and tasteful place, all sheeshee and dolled up, tiny but with the services of a "big girl" location. My first cut was on point, and I was VERY happy (dang, as I write, I can't remember my stylist name! But I loved her). Their massage/facial services are on the pricy point, so if I try them out, they better stand up to the cost (I've had services for less at a Ritz Carlton... yes, they are pricy), BUT if they are THAT good, then BRING IT! I'll try other places before I pick "my place". But this little tucked away gem, so far, is in the race! read more

I am very late in leaving a review! I'm from Virginia and was on Cape Cod last May and I needed my hair cut and highlighted for a wedding. I don't know about you, but walking into a new hair salon is nerve wracking for me - especially before a big event where you're seeing people you haven't seen in years. I cannot recommend Giselle ENOUGH! She was phenomenal and took her time listening to what I wanted. She made a few suggestions too, like adding low lights to my hair and recommending a light ash blond shade. Giselle gave me a great "wash-and-go" haircut and the colors she used grew out beautifully - it was several months before I needed a touch up. She made my frizzy, bleached out hair look healthy and strong. It figures that I'd find someone like her OUT OF STATE. At my fist appointment, I described what I wanted and showed her a few old pics and she said "yup - I know what you want" and, like a true professional, she proceeded to cut my hair, chit chatted and asked questions that you would ask a client - for future reference. I just have my makeup done now. It's very bad the girl just put some powder on my face. I can't describe how bad is it. My updo it's nothing that good but I can survive with plenty black hair clip on my blonde color hair. They used the lipstick directly on everyone lips. Dirty brushes. I had such an amazing experience with Eddie at the Hyannis location! He gave me a complete cut, and expertly dyed my hair to literally the exact perfect blonde I was looking for. I came to him with hair down to my belly button, completely fried and over processed from a balayage from 8 months prior, and I left with perfectly fresh, expertly cut and died hair. We are spending summer at the Cape in our three family owned homes in South Yarmouth...and I needed my roots touched up on my fragile bleached blonde hair. I had never had this done before here, always in NYC Boston Scottsdale or Sunny Isles Beach, depending on our travel schedule. I was not going to travel anywhere off the Cape between COVID 19 & civil unrest. I scanned the hair salon reviews, and focused on Hyannis. There was Beyond Beauty, with a photo of the owner, Debra, and a description of their history and services. I luckily have a knack for picking good places and sometimes one has to take negative reviews with a grain of salt. But the positive reviews were truly glowing and I liked everything about what I read. I called the salon, explained my fear of having my very fragile hair damaged and the need for care. I was advised that Ashley would be ideal for doing bleach blonde roots with great care & skill. I booked my appointment. Well all I can say is my experience was WONDERFUL! I brought my own shampoo & conditioner, I have Keratin treated hair and that requires special shampoos so I always bring my own. Ashley was fantastic! She was careful not to overlap, she didn't need a formula ( only stipulation: 20 volume cream peroxide) and her application was precise. She constantly checked my hair. Then after shampoo and cream rinse she GENTLY blew dry my hair, which is very long! No pulling, no rough handling, just an expert styling! And my hair looked beautiful! The salon is immaculate and lovely! We all wore masks and they take your temp, the salon is not crowded, clients are seated far apart due to COVID 19 regs. The price was not cheap but fair and you get what you pay for and I thought the salons pricing was in line with classy hair salons. I can totally recommend Beyond Beauty Hyannis! I only had color, but hair coloring is an art & Ashley knew what she was doing! Debra was on site so she truly oversees her salon! I would definitely return for color! I did not have a trim, I did watch a couple clients getting trims and the salon workers seemed to take their time and no one rushed. But I personally feel Beyond Beauty in Hyannis is a must go to! I had 11 bridesmaids. I gave Amanda, "the coordinator", the headcount of the girls who want makeup and on March 2nd. On April 18th, I had to add one girl to the headcount and on May 1st I had to remove one of the girls. As you see from a business perspective, adding one more and then taking that one way is in no way harming you when your business when the headcount is still 8. Amanda got very frustrated with me - "So there is no problems I just like to be super organized and also don't want to get the stylist upsets that's all" Then two minutes later, she sends a text from Debbie saying no problem at all we can make those changes. May 1st, she told me she likes to get payments 7-10 days in advance. On May 15, the week of the wedding, she texts me and asks me the names of the bridal party and their numbers. My wedding was on May 20th. I did ask Amanda is the girls could pay the day of because some people are not comfortable with paying before. She told me no because the stylists do not carry a credit card machine, etc. It is like going to a restaurant and paying for your meal before you sit down and eat. There is not guarantee that you will make it to the restaurant so why would you pay before? My sister took over the communication because Amanda was now stressing me out when she should have started this part of the process 2 weeks before the wedding. I gave Amanda everyone's name and number and she told my sister she would make everyone a schedule. On Friday, May 19th Amanda has yet to send a timeline. All I know is that the stylists are coming at 7am, so guess who makes the schedule? Me, the bride. The girls did not know if they needed to have it wet or dry and I was told from Amanda that it was "common sense." When your stylist came, some of the girls were pleased and some were disappointed. The disappointed ones did not leave a tip. They are entitled to that. Also if you paid your stylists well they would not be fishing for a tip if they did not please the customer. When we were done, one of them said she is not leaving until we tip. That is absurd. My sister had a balance left on her account, which she was not aware of until later. Amanda was so dramatic and told me she reached out so many times and she only reached out once and it had only been a couple of days since my sister had not gotten back to her. As you have seen from this timeline, Amanda is not good at her job. Your process and what you consider coordinating was the most stressful part of my wedding. I am super organized and this was the least amount of organization I have seen especially for something as simple putting together a schedule for 8 girls that need their hair done. Also, before worrying about pissing off the hair stylist, why don't you worry about the bride. She is the reason why and how you make your money. Whether I follow your guidelines or not, you are obligated as a business owner to make sure your customers are pleased. Amazon and Walmart have better customer service than your piss poor service. I am and have been so frustrated with your terrible customer service. In the end, I could have just had the girls call the lady to pay on the day of and just requested 3 stylists. Amanda literally did nothing for us except get emotional, add ridiculous commentary and more stress. A bride should never have to go through this much stress especially during the week of her wedding! I will be sure to spread the word and make sure that if I have a say, no one uses your services. You need to find a better coordinator or commit to training Amanda. read more

The woman who did the blowout was good and professional but whatever products they used were ghastly! $30. Blow dry and my normally soft, shiny hair was like straw the next day and looked just terrible. Also, whatever they used (Aveda shampoo and products, I think) made my scalp itch like crazy. I had to wash my hair the next morning which was not at all convenient because I was away from home for the weekend. If they ever decide to use something other then Aveda, then I would try them again! read more

I've been a client of Beyond Beauty for a couple of years now. It took me a while to find the right salon after I moved here officially 4 years ago. Danielle is my hair stylist and she does a fabulous job with my long foils and cut. She is a good listener and has great ideas. My fiancé sees Danny for his man cut and shave snd he is very good! . Both Danny and Danielle are a delight to spend time with so overall the experience is always a good one! Spa services are great too. Shannon is the best! I went there after Thanksgiving for an updo and a make up session, that after became the worst experience in my lifetime. The people that work there are really welcoming and warm. The problem is the products they use and how they apply it. My hair came out ok, but my make up, was good to look at when you were far from me, but when closer, was a disaster. The lipstick smelled so bad and it continues even after a while, there is no preparation for make up, so I believe is a really quick make up they do, with only one brand and a few used brushes, they used the same ones on my friend. The finish on the face is poorly made, get stuck on every line, even the ones you don't know you have. The worst of everything that made my life a hell, was the lashes, the girl glued it on my real lashes instead of my skin, so you can imagine the pain to take it off, never seen a glue so strong like this one and some real lashes come out during this process, my eyelid hurts I still have glue on them and I would never recommend this to anyone. I had a spa day with the girls. All four of us were able to get services at virtually the same time. Relaxing massages, invigorating facials and a manicure for me, all were the best! My sister had her hair done by Danny and loved his service. Colleen was also outstanding as well as the rest of the team. We relaxed in a comfortable quiet room with complementary herbal tea's. I even took a relaxing steam shower, what a nice treat! Debra the owner was so knowledgeable and friendly, she knows all about the products she sells and the services she offers. The prices were also very reasonable for what you receive. The team at Beyond Beauty exceeded all of our expectations. We loved being there so much, we decided to make it an annual stop. A very pretty and relaxing salon, convenient location, professional staff, and all kinds of unexpected perks like a soothing cup of warm delicious Aveda tea, or super relaxing foot soak. Last week they had just reopened for skin care services and were booked solid, but I managed to get a last minute facial appointment with Nicole. (I always seem to luck out with appointment scheduling there). My skin was suffering from lockdown neglect *and* my appointment was the day before my mom's funeral (!!) so I was a wreck and needed some self care. Came here for a spa day for a friends birthday. Very reasonable prices, beautiful salon. I got a 30 min facial, 30 min massage, an express mani/pedi and a wash/blow dry. The facial was amazing and ill be returning to the salon for that. The massage was average. The blow dry was amazing. I will say this - DO NOT waste your money on a mani/pedi here. I was shocked at what a bad job they did! Literally these girls look like they've never painted a nail in their life. Run away from this place if you want blonde hair!! I purchased a Cape Cod Daily Deal for a $55 highlight with Natasha, online. Now to be fair, I realize this meant that she is likely new and needs to build clientele, but I thought, "it's a highlight, who can screw that up?". She screwed it up. I showed her a picture and stated I like white blonde highlights. So, instead of foils like I've gotten pretty much my whole adult life, she wants to do a bayalage. She insisted this technique would give me that bright white blonde I was seeking and that it grows out a little less severe than a foil highlight. Sold. I'll try it, why not. But from the minute she began to section in my hair, I could tell I was in trouble. And when she began "painting on" the bleach, it felt so amateurish, that I could swear a 6 year old with a paintbrush was doing my hair. Fast forward to the end result. Awful! Nothing like the picture. A few streaks, that ended up with a purple/grey hue from the toner being left on too long. I left, trying not to cry, and sought opinions of my kinfolk. All of which substantiated my horror... I had purple tinted hair! I called back that day and told them I was unhappy. Got an appointment 2 days later with Brooklyn. So I show her the original pic I had shown Natasha, and we are in agreement that the result was off. She starts talking about bombshell, vibrant blonde, and I'm like "yes, please!!". Umm... Not so much. After she decides to bleach my scalp (which left a horrendous and painful red burn around my hairline and forehead) and then pull it all the way through to my ends, (I've never, ever had a hairdresser bleach my entire head before. My hair isn't in the best of shape) we rinse, tone and wrap my wet hair in a towel and go back to the chair. As soon as the towel comes off and I see my reflection, I want to cry. My hair is YELLOW. Not the nice icy, white blonde I've asked for. Twice. After the blow dry she asks how I like it. I tell her I hate it, that it's yellow. She then brings her manager over. Manager is not hiding her annoyance too well with my complaints. Starts telling me that if they do anything more to it, my hair will fall out, or may turn blue. That my expectations were off because you can't achieve white blonde hair in one appointment. Umm... Yeah you can. If the stylist knows how to do blonde right, you really can!! I've had it done before, multiple times. It was clear I was dealing with amateur hour, so I wasn't gonna argue. I booted outta there, but not before I pulled my hood up over my head so no one could see this atrocity that lay upon my head. When I got home, everyone was like, "they actually let you leave like that?". I debated calling back and demanding they fix it, but after literally 2 seconds of thinking about it, I decided I'd rather go to my trusted former stylist and pay the big bucks that I was trying to save, and have my hair done the right way. Lesson of the day: you get what you pay for. You try and save a couple bucks by getting a half price service, and all it gets you is hair so yellow, it rivals Lisa Simpson's. I could have saved myself the $55 and got the same result from a drugstore box of bleach applied by my 6 year old. And by the way, I've had to wear either a hoodie, bandana, or scully for the past 6 days while I await my color correction appointment. It's that bad!! ***update*** the location was Mashpee. I am living on the Cape temporarily and needed a new hair salon. I found Beyond Beauty online and what a treasure! Jill does my waxing and Laura is my hairdresser. They are both fantastic at what they do and they listen! In the six months I have lived here, I have changed hair color and style. I showed Laura a photo and I got what I wanted. They also give free foot soaks and hand massages while your color processes. So sad to leave and have to find a new salon. Highly recommended. read more

I used to go to this salon on regular basis. All the stylists I used have left .... Rumor has it because of treatment by management. I have used some newer stylist but none very good. Manicures were a disaster. One even snipped cuticle causing to bleed. Front desk staff is changing frequently and very confusing. Still go only about every four months for certain treatments. I have no idea why this place has a good number of negative reviews- I can only assume that they are from cheap tourists who aren't used to paying prices for QUALITY services or "bridezilla" types... anyways I am a local and have come to beyond beauty for dozens of hair cuts, color treatments, makeup &, and a handful of spray tans and have never been even slightly disappointed. Oh and their blow dry bar is awesome and priced pretty fairly. To be honest I don't have a regular hair stylist here because I'm always so last minute with bookings and everyone I have been too has been great. They really take the time to ensure they know what you want and at the end triple check you're happy before you leave.. usually offering to put some waves in your hair or play around with a cute style after a new cut. The environment is so clean and relaxing and like many expensive spas I've been too in the city. The owner is super sweet & very involved in the day to day running of her salon. I also love their mashpee location. I have called beyond beauty desperate for a service and they've been able to squeeze me in multiple times. I don't have enough nice things to say about this place! Kate Scott is the best for color and cut- same with Gina, although she is in Mashpee. Heather is great for cutting too. The Brazilian Blowout (the brand name one) is amazing. I had it done in June 2012 and 10 months later its still working, although it fades (as expected). Worth the $300! Alicia is the best for waxing. Over the years I have a had a few snafus with the front desk in terms of appointments, customer service and higher than expected bills at time of payment, as have other people I know. I am an Early Childhood Educator and constantly bending and picking up children, therefore, I have a lot of kinks and knots in my neck, shoulders and back. My daughter gave me a gift certificate to Beyond Beauty and I chose to use it for me a ninety minute deep tissue massage. I explained to Colleen that I was having trouble with range of motion in my left arm. Colleen gave me the most productive deep tissue I have EVER gotten. I could tell that we were making a lot of progress by hearing clicks and feeling the size of knots get smaller. I do not get a lot of massages, and could feel that Colleens technique and abilities to get the muscle to release were wonderful. I now have more range of motion and it no longer pains me to open my car door. I just wish I could bottle her up and take her home. read more
