I come in to this BevMo for all my alcoholic beverages and I always have pretty good service but today I had the best 5 star shopping experience! It's my brother in law's birthday weekend so I was looking for the biggest bottle of jäger I could find. There were only 750 ml bottles available so I got one and called my sister to let her know that they only had a regular size bottle so I would be getting some trulys as well. As I got off the phone with her I asked a nearby associate (Jimmy) where I could find Red Bull's. He led me to them and also told me that he overheard me saying I was looking for a bigger bottle of jager and said he would check in the back if they had the larger bottle available. Unfortunately they didn't have the larger bottle but he said that if I got two bottles he would price match them to amount to the bigger bottle price. I'm beside myself. I work for a quality assurance consulting firm and deal with quite a bit of retailers and government agencies. In either of those sectors in a million years would anyone have the audacity to not tend to their clients during business hours. Establishment closes at 9:00 pm and we arrived there at 8:52 pm only to be told by a young lady at the door that they have a 15 minute wait to pay and that she needs to get home to her family. I over heard her tell the next person they are not allowed to have people in the store after 9. Walked away in disbelief and merely observed as she turned away about half a dozen more in a matter of minutes. We thought to ourselves, we have to make management aware that this is what is happening. In any segment of business this is simply unheard of. So we got on the phone and called from right outside their door specifying we had been turned away during business hours and another young lady answers the phone stating to be the manager and basically confirmed their policy for the evening and then proceeded to politely tell me to have a nice day. This is such great material for the office. We now have come up with the term... "Ahh just BevMo it." tomorrow is Christmas eve and at the office we're highly considering "BevMoing" it about 11:00 am... . I'm sure our clients will understand. This incident just occurred a little under an hour ago and has now taken a life of its own. Was asked to present an ID to buy a bottle of water. The male cashier stated that need to present an ID to buy anything at the store. A lady in front me did not present an ID. There is an inconsistency when attending customers. I regret to tell you that this is not a good business practice. I have not been at BevMo! for awhile but coming back I was welcome by an unsatisfactory and negative store experience. I came last night to purchase 4 bottles of a favorite wine and the Whittier location is the closest store that carries these. It was a red flag already when I was at the checkout because the cashier is very unattentive and you can tell by his gestures that he doesn't like what he is doing (job???), no enthusiasm at all. I am not sure if he was bothered that he has to ring me because the 1st cashier has to step out to help another customer. The store is not even that busy and like only 1 or 2 customers after me he continued with that demeanor. I paid and left rushing to do more errands. When I got home, I checked the receipt & noticed I was overcharged as I only purchased 4 bottles and I was charged for 5. The cashier's name on the receipt is TOM. I decided to just to comeback the next day as it is late already. The following morning I cameback and went straight to the cashier. Nobody was there and it took awhile before someone came up and it was TOM again from last night. He has no visible name tag just like last night. He just stood a few feet away and just look at me without even asking or offering assistance. And like the previous night he has that same demeanor. I initiated the talk by telling him that I was overcharged and presented him the receipt. He already showed doubt on me and made me feel uncomfortable by giving a judgemental look and he looked at the receipt trying to figure it out until I emhasized to him that the receipt shows total 5 item instead of only 4. I added that it was him who "assisted" me last night. He gave me that mean look and went straight to a female associate in a booth at the corner of the store. They whispered to each other & the female is the one who cameback to the counter instead of TOM. And I could tell by his gesture that he was in a bad mood because he remained at the booth and faced the wall and tried to avoid looking at the counter where I am at and lady. Since she has no visible name tag I asked her name. She told me her name is KYNDAL and I dont know if it is wrong to asked her name because she gave me the cold shoulder as well and trying to avoid an eye contact. Not welcoming at all and no apologies for the error on the transaction. At this point I asked her who is the manager and KYNDAL told me she is the "assigned manager" for the day. I told her to remined TOM to be attentive next time to customers and their transaction. KYNDAL responded in an unapologetic tone that they were "busy"last night attending to customers hence the error. FYI I was there and it is not that busy at the cashier. TOM continued to be at that booth standing, trying his best not to look at the counter by facing the wall. That gesture reflects a negative impression. I didn't even bother to ask KYNDAL why she was the one who ended up assisting me instead of TOM cause the reason is very obvious. The store is alright but my experince with the 2 store associates' behavior and character left me doubting if patronizing BevMo! Is worth it. I hope they realized that them working at the store, they represent the company they work for and customer service is part of their job. They need training. read more

I was at BevMo today and had a pretty disappointing experience. I was standing in line outside the store waiting for my turn to enter when I was confronted by two BevMo employees one of which I didn't get his name but the second employee Chris informed me that even though I was outside and social distancing I would not be allowed in the store because I didn't have a mask on outside. I was unaware that BevMo had the right to tell people what the can and can't do outside in a public space. I was told I wouldn't be allowed in the store even if I wore a mask (I was more than prepared to wear a mask in the store). I stayed in line and was told I wouldn't be allowed in, when I made it to the front of the line I walked in wearing my mask and was told that the police were being called. Since I broke no laws I continued to enter the store to purchase the products I was there for. It was then I was told that they would not "ring me up" and I wouldn't be allowed to leave with any purchase. At this point I decided to leave but before I didn't I told Chris that neither BevMo or himself were in the position to dictate what someone does outside of their store. I then told him that due to his personal point of view I would leave but I would be ordering my products online and watch them deliver it curbside to me at which time he told me they would remember my vehicle and cancel my order and issue a refund. The police ended up coming and I was informed that I had done nothing wrong and we (the police and I) had a short conversation that was very pleasant. We wished each other a Merry Christmas and went on our way. Not only is calling the police for something like this childish it takes them away from Real police work. When proof was presented about the cheaper price at target the cashier went on to say that it had to be the one across the street from them otherwise they wouldn't honor it. When we did prove that was the case, the cashier made a second expose stating that he had to check if the discounted price was more than what they paid before they gave us a discount. After waiting for several minutes, he came back saying he could only discount $1 from the original price match discount of $2. We found this to be very petty and very bad customer service. He was very rude and condescending thinking I was pronouncing a certain beer incorrectly and I explained to him no it was a mixer and some people use it in their micheladas . He proceeded to explain to me with a very negative attitude the michelada mix they had and that they are out of stock. The only reason I am even giving this place two stars is because of all the cool stuff they have. They really should get employees that are friendlier because after that experience I will NOT be coming back. The employee was so rude and treated me like I was a total idiot.
