Their prices are no different than Total Wine, and while TW might have 5-10% more inventory, BevMo wins because of their customer service. In the 5-6 times I've been here every staff member has been friendly and helpful - the complete opposite of TW. BevMo staff is always ready to help me find obscure gins and bourbons, and if it isn't in the store they always try to find a way to order it for me. This was my annual visit to a liquor store to buy some NA beverages to celebrate the onset of summer. The manager escorted me to a well lit aisle with NA beer, wine and spirits from around the world. I found my favorite Deschutes Black Butte Porter and he carried it back to a register for me while I studied all the NA Gins. Amazed to have such a choice I read all the labels and selected a robust one. Then decided I'd need some light tonic to go with and he guided me there. When I checked out, he also had fresh limes to sell me. I think I may return to this store sooner than annually. This change made me want to look inside and I was oddly impressed by the variety of stuff they managed to fit into so few aisles. As always, the selection is pretty good. The location feels smaller than I remember, so I can forgive them if the selection isn't warehouse sized. Several people asked if I needed help but Tanya was with me in the end. She and the staff were very polite. Tanya was also professional and helped me with additional questions. I was very satisfied with my trip and happy to leave a review. I would give the business 5 stars. I've been checking in since the Covid pandemic to see if they do growler refills and they haven't started that back up yet. No employee or manager I have talked to has inquired to their higher management about the issue either. It seems it's just accepted and they're waiting for their management to give them the go ahead. I'd suggest being more proactive to solve an issue to get more customers. First time in a store in many years because I was looking for a very specific wine called monkey in the can. I tried the wine at a outdoor event and was actually pretty good for wine in a can. Decided I'd love to have some of it in the fridge for those days when you only want to have a glass but not crack an entire bottle. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had it here. I called Bevmo and spoke with Cindy who was more than helpful and professional. Cindy was able to locate the particular beverage we were searching for and held it for me to come and purchase. Terrible customer service. Cashier demanded to see the person I was with and my I.D. at the time I went to check out (we were paying separately). Then she was so distracted by other customers it took for ever to ring me up and pay for 2 items and she was arguing with them while I was standing there waiting to pay. I went in today with my parent so they could purchase beer for themself. I did not touch anything at any point during the time that I was in the store. The cashier asked for my ID which I thought was very odd as I was with my parent and never touched anything and was not purchasing anything. I was under the assumption that a parent could purchase alcohol with a minor child present in the state of AZ. This was further reinforced by seeing a dad walk through the line with to a daughter who appeared to be about 14 to purchase beer moments later. The manager said that if someone appears to be close in age 18 is ID'd which is odd to me considering a dad with a daughter who appeared to be be a teenager did not get ID'd. They should state this discriminatory policy on the door and enforce the laws of the state they are in. I am not sure what is up with this but discriminatory practices are not cool and in this case make no sense. How can a parent with a child who is 16 (but appears to be 18) not purchase alcohol but a parent with a child who is 14 can? I don't even drink but will do everything I can to keep friends, family, and associates away from this business that put a thorn in one of my few days in town. I have been to the Total Wine and More many of times in TUCSON with this parent for them to purchase alcohol for themself and this has NEVER happened before. I am not sure why they have this policy and do not bother having it posted anywhere as I would have never gone into the store and my parent would have taken their business elsewhere like they will be doing from now on. This has never even happened in the state of California when I have been shopping with my parent. God forbid I want to spend time with my parent who I see like twice a year. I will just stay home next time they went to purchase alcohol because I never want to deal with this annoyance again. I've noticed if you ask for a product line they will have just a single option from the same line. Browsing around, there are many wines to choose from, which can be a bit daunting, but if you ask for help, the staff is really friendly and will help you choose something if you're not a heavy drinker. Associate Leah knew about local craft beers, Cameron and Wes knew about wines and whiskey, and the cashier (can't remember her name. Quite unfortunate experience. After an exhausting search for a Jameson 18yr master selection I had found one at bevmo on Broadway. I called in to confirm with staff that they in fact had this item stocked and was told they would be expecting my online order. To my surprise I received a call two hours after my order confirmation and call to the store that they had sold all three remaining bottles to a customer after I placed my online order two hours earlier. With days before the holiday I'm now without hopes of finding this selection. I now have to wait up to 5 days for a refund on my account and can only hope I'll be able to afford another if I come across it in time. This would have been my first experience with bevmo and to say it's probably the last. Quite unfortunate to say the least. read more

So I went here for their $.05 sale. I usually get my wines from Trader Joes and if I'm desperate, the supermarket. But my friendmade outta here the other day with 8 decent bottles for less than $70 so I gave it a shot. As far as the selection goes, fantastic! He must not have known what the heck I was referring to or not have been a "wine person" because before I knew it, he was showing me a $6.99 bottle of Bealieu Vineyards. I didn't want to bother him more than I clearly already had so I thanked him and conitnued on my search. I gave up after about 10 more minutes of walking around aimlessly and stood in line at the checkout to bother the only other employee in the store that i could find. He was actually a little more helpful and went to the computer to see if they carried the wine. When he found it, i was enthralled. But when he vaguely told me "it's in the middle aisle where it says 'other reds'," I found myself back at square one. Well this is basically how my visit went and it consisted of lots of laps around the store. Im more of a red wine person but I occasionally crave a crispy chilled white wine... but I was too afraid to bother anyone else in the store to ask for any good recommendations. Ok, so this review is more for the wine tastings than anything else. But I love the wine tastings here! The person running them always has a wealth of knowledge about it, and are extremely friendly! They also have different cheeses out, or crackers, or some kind of meat (like salami) to go with it all. They are always cohesive selections, wine and cheese alike, and I love getting to expand and define my wine palate here. My boyfriend and I are here almost every weekend to try their offerings, and to learn about different wines and different regions and such. This is by far the worst run Bevmo I have ever visited. This review is being written after four separate visits over a six month period. I travel often and have visited Bevmos in Southern California as well as the Phoenix area. The single malt scotch shelfs are have empty and when I asked if they had any in the back the young employee checked and came back and said they did not have that scotch, even though they got their delivery that day? So half the scotch listed on the shelves are not on the shelves, nor are they ordering replacements? Then I selected a few single beers, and brought them to the front, and they did not scan properly and the woman whom appeared to be the manager got all uptight and said: "I am going to have to look these up," as if I did something wrong by selecting beers off their shelf that clearly had the prices shown, but for some reason did not scan. I was all ready to give her my opinion of this horribly run store, but she never asked me if I found everything I was looking for but continued to act very rude and "bothered, " by my presence. The half empty scotch shelves and rude management is a continuing problem. As previously stated, I have visited four times over six months, twice walking in, and then walking out, after observing the empty scotch shelves. I will NEVER go to this Bevmo again, but will now go to Total Wine and Spirits. I will tell all who will listen, not to go this horribly run store. read more
