I am not really a fan of BevMo as a whole. Prices are a little high and unless you're looking for something completely different, the Vons on Valley View has a pretty solid spirit and wine selection and better pricing. That being said I did pick up a couple of craft whiskeys that I hadn't seen before. The store's staff is pretty knowledgeable and that you won't get at a grocery store. The thing I do like the most about BevMo though is their selection of mini liquor bottles. I travel a few times a year and the store runs a 6 for $18 deal on minis. A word of advice for anyone's next plane trip. You are allowed to fill up a quart sized ziplock bag with as many sealed bottles that will fit, so as long as you can close it. This means you can easily take enough for a round trip flight and saves a significant amount of money if you consider having a pre flight drink and onboard cocktail each way! BevMo is also a nice spot for the occasional cigar. Coupons are sent to BevMo members periodically through email and or mailer but I haven't received any of the above mentioned in years. Love their 5 cent wine sale. It's as close to a BOGO deal as you can get...! The staff here at this location is SUPER friendly. They greet with smiles as soon as you step in. It was a rainy night when I came into the store once, and one associate even emptied out a shopping cart that he was using to restock the floor, so that I didn't have to go outside to pickup a wet shopping cart from the rain. Great customer service! Also, the store is beautifully clean and virturally spotless, just the way it should be. So I'm not gonna lie.. I totally judge a book by its cover when it comes to wine. I like the pretttttyyyy bottles or the really unique-looking ones. But then again, don't get me wrong..I know I like pinot noirs and sauvignon blancs, but my horrible memory will never help me remember 'my fave winery'. If you are a lover of alcohol and the different creations you can manifest with the proper ingredients BevMo is really difficult to top. This alcohol palace is beautifully displayed with not much flair, instead aiming for ease in finding what you want as well as being surprised by what you didn't know you always wanted. With libations categorized by type (rum, whiskey, vodka, etc.) it's easy to get lost in each aisle...with wonderment! Also, being part of Club BevMo has already saved me hundreds of dollars without feeling like I have a problem (cause I don't you judgers!). So I visit this BevMo more often then not on the weekends and I must say this store as well as the company has yet to disappoint me! Great prices, amazing selection and such a friendly staff! Hops, brews, stouts, growlers, handles, nips, and bottles as well as the ability to special request alcohol for shipping to the store. I've frequented this particular store and I've come to realize you can ask the very knowledgeable employees anything about their selections. I have been an avid customer ever since. The prices are not Costco cheap but the vast selection far outweighs that fact. A way to man's heart is through alcohol and lots of it. So where else can you find a hearty selection of booze at fair prices other than BevMo? Maybe, Total Wine & More? The only problem is that there is no close location near my house except for this one in Cypress (unless I venture out to Brea/Long Beach). Oh well, I guess I need to stock up on alcohol ahead of time so that I don't have to drive too far. Wait, that means I'll end up drinking a lot more at home. Gotta think about that one again. The staff here is super friendly each time I come loot the place. The female associate who cashed me out this last time was helpful as heck. She even came back to meet me at the cash register, dropping whatever she was doing. It was like a race to the money box and she won. Some of the more expensive alcohol is locked up so you have to call on an associate to come over but they usually see me loitering around the locked areas and ask me if I need help. I feel like a kid at a candy store trying to reach for sweets on the top shelf. This location is smaller than other BevMo's but they have a good selection and I rarely run into a problem finding the specific moonshine that I'm looking for. Absolute last time I ever shop at this store. Today, 2/23, went into store to buy a few things for a get together. Had absolutely no trouble whatsoever finding the items we needed. Amaretto, mix, wine. One line was open with roughly 8 guests ahead of me. After a few minutes, like any good store runs, a 2nd line was open by an employee here... female. I was told later her name is Monique. Anyway, two other shoppers that were way behind in line decided to jump the line she just opened while the rest of the line just looked on somewhat confused. First come first served I guess. No sense of direction or being courteous to the rest of us as the cashier went on with her business. The lady behind me even commented about the lack consideration. I eventually went to that 2nd line she was working as did the lady behind me. The two young women ahead of us didn't have a club card and was asked to sign up. No lie this went on for an excessive amount of time with the talking and story sharing as they were signed up. Looking back at the other line I was originally in it wasn't hard to see that entire group ahead of me and behind were long gone. Even the lady behind me got fed up and went to the other line and was gone before me. So I finally get my turn to check out. No friendly hello or sorry about the wait. So I kindly gave her my club card number, coupon and explained that it was unfortunate she paid little attention to the other customers waiting to checkout. Again no apology and immediately went into attack mode with telling me I don't have the right to tell her how to run her business. That no one is forcing me to shop there or wait. What? Really? Then she said it sounds like you don't want me to help you. I told her I didn't say that and I just wanted to pay for my items and leave. Then she just said "I don't want to help you and left me there at the checkout waiting. She told the other checker as she stormed off that "I'm not helping that guy out" and handed him something? Customers looking at me like I'm some horrible person. So I wait... wait... and wait. Thinking why am I putting up with this. She is right... I can go somewhere else. At this point another customer approached the checkout and he waited along with me. Finally a person I saw stocking shelves earlier came up from an isle asking where the checker was? I said she is upset with me and left. He seemed puzzled and got on the hand held talkies asking where she was. I could tell she was giving him an earful and he looked at me and said he was really sorry for the trouble and wait. He said he would help me and asked where we left off. We couldn't find the discount coupon I gave her and apparently she gave it to the other checker. He didn't seen to happy with the situation either as he commented to the guy helping me out. I asked the guy helping me out who the manger is. He said Monique is a manger? The lady that stormed off? He said yes... she's a manager. Speechless. Again the checker apologized and gave me my receipt. Amazingly. In all the years I've been shopping here I didn't get a survey on my receipt for this visit. Lol. Kink. No matter... no one needs to be treated the way I was here today. It was a disservice to this store and very embarrassing for me. She's right however... no one is forcing me to shop or possibly wait for poor service here. To many other "club" like stores in the area. WORST customer service experience here I have ever had. My boyfriend and I had to stop and buy some booze before a Father's Day party. We got a 6-pack and some premixed margarita. So we wait in line and when we get up to the clerk (Fred), he asks for my boyfriend's ID. He takes it and looks at it and asks "Are you over 21?" (My boyfriend is 26 by the way, which the clerk should have known after reading the ID). So my boyfriend is a big jokester, and he sarcastically answers "no." It was clear he was joking and can I repeat, HIS ID IS IN THE CLERK'S HAND. At this point Fred moves the alcohol to the counter behind him and says, "I'm sorry then I can't sell this to you." We thought he was joking with us too, until he started ignoring us and ringing up the next customer. I spoke up and said, "Wait, are you serious?" and my boyfriend humbly said, "My bad dude, I was obviously joking since you saw my ID." The clerk goes, "We don't joke about that." and then flat out refuses to do business with my boyfriend. He was an older man so I'm really surprised he would just lose business like that for his company. It can't be the first time he's heard that joke. So I'm pretty much in a state of disbelief at this point and I say, "Well can I buy it?" and he asks me if I'm over 21, so I say yes. And THEN he looks me up and down and says very rudely "Do you have the money?" Not "Will you be paying for it?" but flat-out asks if I have the money. I was super offended. Yes jerk I have the money if I just offered to buy the alcohol! So he takes my ID and spends quite a while looking at it before then scanning it, rings me up, and we left. I will definitely NOT be going back to Bev-Mo. I couldn't believe the way we were treated after my boyfriend tried to make a lighthearted joke. Please hire employees that have a sense of humor and enough of a brain to look at the valid state-issued picture ID in their hand. read more

I love this store for the top four points that I always look for when spending money: 1. Organized 2. Clean 3. Friendly 4. Helpful This place ranks very high on my enjoyment scale because even if they fell short on any one of those four points, the rest would be so fantastically taken care of that any short-comings would fall short of noticeable. Friendly staff who know their stuff. All BevMo employees are required to take a class of some sort (or so I've been told by the employees) before being put into play. Some know wines. Some know beers. Some know liquors. Some know food pairings. The list goes on and on and I am impressed each and every time. Special shout out goes out to three particular employees who have not only helped me make fantastic purchases based on my specific tastes, but also because they were tremendously friendly and in a very natural sort of way. I'm a huge fan of BevMo for their sodas. I am a soda junkie that occasionally will, particularly on Fridays, unwind with a sugar cane soda. Some call the process of opening your bottle and taking that first sip "getting off work." BevMo has most bigger brands with sugar cane like Pepsi, Coke, Bundaberg, Jones, Boylans, Thomas Keeper and many others. I would like to think that a chain that is both found relatively close to many suburban markets and reasonably priced has something going right for itself. Most of the workers are friendly as well, despite the few that I will see upon weekday trips. You'll note that on weekends it might be hard to get that help, so be patient or bullish to serve yourself. So if you're in the neighborhood, and want something other than your Mexican Coke or Pepsi, I would recommend coming here. I'm sure kids, or the kid in you, will love it. read more

I call the Cypress store at 4:19pm and ask the girl who answered the call if they had a particular liquor filled chocolate in stock. She informs me that they do have the item and that is actually on sale. Concerned that they might not have enough, I asked how many they had and was informed that they had "stacks" of them. I thank her and told her that I will be down shortly. I drive the 18 miles down to Cypress and arrive a couple of minutes after five, and ask where the chocolates are and an associate takes me to where they were. She ask the other workers what happened to them and then informs me that apparently they must have been sold. There was a long line of people outside and a long line of people waiting to goes to the register and a large group of employees sitting in the center of the store talking to one another, joking not working. I recommended to the assistant manager on staff they should open up another register and she walked away saying I'm sorry I can't hear you I'm hard-of-hearing, whole giggling even though I had a mask on and she responded to me each time I challenged her management style. I wanted to celebrate my 26 years of living the proper way and also end summer with friends and family so BBQ it was. And I felt it would be proper to have a keg. But where do I start? Never rented one before nor have I ever done a keg stand. But first thought that came to mind was BEVMO. I called the day of about 4-5 times and while most of the 15-gallon kegs were already reserved, I felt it was best if I just walked in and saw all the selections for myself. I went into the back freezer with the store employees and chose the 15-gallon PBR which was the best bang for my buck - $107 for about 120-150 cups of beer. The entire process was pretty smooth and there was a separate aisle for keg purchases and returns. You have to fill out a small form and pay an upfront deposit for the tub and tap (unless you have your own) and also cleaning fees for both. Also there is a deposit for the keg itself but you get it all back as soon as you return the keg..which is whenever you decide to return it! They also have a dolly so you can take it to your car (or they do it for you). I suggest an SUV for 15-gallon kegs. Kegs are cool but definitely should've googled how to keep the foam away. The beer was foam-y almost the entire party. But the next day my friend released the air pressure by pressing this small button on the side of the tap and that helped A LOT. NO MORE FOAM. But also no more keg stands because it was Sunday and we were still hungover. Good luck getting the keg to and from your car! I went in on Nov 4 and apparently purchased a Michaels Irish Cream that was already EXPIRED. The cream had completely separated into a layer that hardened to a point I actually couldn't pour anything from the bottle. I tried using it that night. It's not a brand I normally get so thought maybe there was a difference and stuck it in the fridge until I thought about using it tonight and it was still clear that the liquid and cream were separated and the cream was just chunks. This place is awesome...if you're 21 or older. For the longest time, it was the only place around that sold Leinenkugal Sunset Wheat by the bottle. Not too many places then (and now) can claim that. My friend Chris L. and I would go here and split the cost of a case of the stuff, since it was on the pricey side (but so worth it). We'd also try out some of the more premium beers and rare items and bring our discoveries back to our other friends. The store is very well kept and well lit. They seem to have lots of wine tasting events as well as beverages from all over the known world. What isn't explicitly stated in the name of the place is that BevMo really is a front for one of the largest booze sellers around. If you come to BevMo to buy Coca-Cola, you may be laughed at...but you'll eventually get your soda under heavy snickers. People come here to stock up on wine, liquor and beer. The best comparison is likening this store to a Costco...that just sells drinks, mainly of the adult variety. The place also serves compliments to "beverages," such as chips and jerky. Come to think of it, the place is actually a pretty manly store, but not as rugged so as to ward away individuals of the female persuasion. They do have a club membership...which I actually signed up for back in Newport Beach when I was in college. I still don't think I have reaped the benefits of being a club member, but hey, they have a way to track down the kind of shit I like to drink and can notify me of when that shit's on sale. The reason for the -1 star? The prices. I think they're on the high side, and can be lowered to satisfy the masses. read more

They have an extensive selection of wine, and I actually found this type of Moscato that I was searching for online. Finally got what we needed, and then she told us to wait in a different line with the SLOWEST check out guy who ultimately refused to let my husband buy anything because I didn't have ID. Horrible customer service. Unimpressed bevmo. You no longer have our business. Waste of time with a ridiculous store policy when we are both clearly over 21. Manager looked like she was 12.
