I've never actually done any training at Kinex other than the Tues/Thurs Evening and Saturday morning bootcamp classes, so this review won't cover any of that. However, the facility is new and clean, and has plenty of equipment. The trainers that I've met all seem friendly and competent, and it looks like they're doing a thorough job with clients during the times that I've been at Kinex for boot camp. I started going to their boot camp classes soon after Kinex opened. Sam and Jordan have done a pretty great job with the classes the entire time, and it doesn't matter if only two people show up or 15 show up - all the classes have been great. They have a good mix of workouts, and it doesn't feel like there are a lot of repeats, even week to week. They focus heavily on core workouts, and my abs/obliques always feel great after a class. Sam and Jordan do a good keep the classes fun and talk and joke with the participants. They usually have some kind of music playing to help distract you from the hard work you're doing. If you're looking for a boot camp class, I can definitely recommend the ones at Kinex.

Last year, I signed up to exercise at TeamFit and attended religiously for a year. I had lost some…read moreweight via the gym and my vegan lifestyle. Towards the end of last year, the owner, Ryan Sepulveda reached out to me to pay my dues for next year. I paid approximately $1,500 for the whole year. However, I noticed that I wasn't meeting all my goals including losing the fat under my arms and between my thighs which was my primary goal. I attended the gym in January within the last week. I had decided not to return as I was dealing with some personal things and goals weren't being fully met. So, in March I reached out to Ryan to notify him that I would like to cancel my membership. He begged me to stay and even mentioned that he could do one-on-one sessions with me. We scheduled to discuss this on Friday, 03/21 at 10:30 AM. He switched it to 10:20 AM. So I blocked some time off my busy schedule at work and waited for his call. So Friday got here, and he never called me. He claimed that he was caught up at home since he had someone fixing a leaky dishwasher. Then, he asked to call me in 10-15 minutes. I told him to call me later because I was severely busy at work waiting for his call. At 8:50 PM, he text me asking me about my day. By that time, I was in bed asleep. I texted him the following morning. Monday rolls around and I ask him again to put me down as a cancellation and told him please. Ryan replies, "okay so no outdoor one on one training. I told him again that I was no longer interested. I asked if he gave any refunds for unused gym membership since I paid for the year. Ryan response, "can I call you around 1pm?" He mentioned that he was sad and didn't want me to leave. He wanted to help me. (of course on Friday, he didn't value my time, but now he wants to help me) I told him that I would be very busy and don't lunch off. I asked him again to be out of my membership. Ryan replied, "please just have an opportunity to visit with you and asked if we could meet in person? He said, I really value you as a person for different reasons and want to talk to you if that is okay" I told him, I didn't think it was necessary. I reminded him about our scheduled chat on Friday which he completely disregarded. I informed him that I would be traveling for work this week and next week and didn't have extra time to spare. Ryan responded, "I guess I wanted to know why you don't want to come back" I repeated to him again, "I'm not interested". He replied, "Can I call you at 2:30 PM?" At this point, I was frustrated and asked, "Why are you making this very difficult for me? I explained earlier that I can't take calls while I'm working. I don't wish to be a member and don't want to discuss about this earlier" His response, "okay, I'm sorry. I will talk to my wife and have her put you down as cancellation. I just thought we were friends and wanted to hear from ya". I replied, "That's weird, this is the most you've chatted with me outside the gym. So, I never considered you as a friend, but a trainer. I received more check-ins from the other trainer, Sisilee tbh". His response, "I always tried to reach out". At this point, he posted screenshots of him reaching out" I replied, "but this isn't the reason that I want out". I told him that he didn't need to bring receipts. His response, "I thought I was doing a good job trying to reach out. I know, but he mentioned he was hurt bc he was always trying to reach out frequently". I told him, "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I just figured you were busy, but it is difficult to conversate with someone who doesn't text back". Because everything time he would reach out he never responded to any of my follow up texts. He mentioned, "his wife told him the same thing and said that he has ADD which is why he can't respond all the time. Yesterday, 03/25, I asked him about the update on the cancellation and if I would be receiving a refund. Ryan replied, "he told his wife about it yesterday and she would talk about it tonight". Today, 03/26, he said that his wife was going to look into it. She told him that memberships can only be frozen and when my time becomes available, membership can be reactivated again. He said that his spouse wanted to explain this to me tomorrow or on Friday. He mentioned that she was about to take a test and asked me to pray for her since her mother was in the hospital. I replied, "that won't be necessary because I don't plan on returning to the gym. It's unfortunate that you can't refund my money since I didn't sign a no refund contract upon signing up" and included, "I'm not a Christian so you can't just ask me to pray for someone". Ryan replied, "okay, I'm sorry and would never try to offend you in that way". I replied, "at this point, I want to be cancelled and asked him to not to contact me moving forward. I told him that I would unfriend him from social media. Completely UNPROFESSIONAL and crooks! I don't recommend!

The service for the past 9 months has been non-existent. For the existing LA members let you facility know about the service so that the establishment can fix the situation. The service here has NO "acknowledgement", NO "have a good workout", NO eye contact, NO "Good Morning" NO INTERACTION whatsoever. Putting your scanner on the counter, continue to watch social media and not acknowledging the member is unacceptable. Front desk is the face of the company, first interaction with their members. I have brought this up to the facility twice and no clear outcome that is will fix the situation not with me personally but for this location. This issue was brought up six months ago and was addressed, it was a tad bit better for one week and back to the normal rude behavior. This comes down to the management team, listen to the members, bring up the issue, have warning and consequences and address the problem as needed. Domyour due diligence, check cameras, ask your morning members, or even ask corporate to do a survey. Once in a while the behavior is tolerable, as people we all have our own personal issues but nine months of the repetitive behavior is just not right. Think - what position is csr front desk? Happy smiling, contact service, fake it even if you have to smile service. I'm sure LA Fitness didn't hire someone to play on the phone during the shift to bring this attitude. Well, to be honest, local mgmt did address the issues, they pointed out to the intended front desk that I was the person to address this issue. That person now knows who is complaining and my service from the front Desk is solved but they does not do justice for the other members of the facility, I have nothing personal with this person and nothing against that person. If I was managing the facility I would have done better than treat this as an isolated incident. As very recent changes has seen that I am not the source of the problem but I am trying to do a service to the company. Anyways I have send in my cancellation mail, I will not be coming to this particular gym. On a bright side, As overall LA Fitness is pretty good, it was just this particular gym that bothers me a little, I am contemplating about canceling still because as a whole most All LA fitness facilities are satisfactory. Best regards to all
