Management at Burton Way Luxury Apartments gave a key to my unit to my stalker -- yes, you read that right. My stalker created a fake email pretending to be me, told the office that a "friend" would be picking up a key, and they actually handed it over to him. This was after I had already given the management team written and verbal instructions not to respond to anyone using that email or any other number but mine. As a result, my home was broken into, thousands of dollars worth of belongings were stolen, and I was left feeling completely unsafe in my own apartment. On top of that, the building is infested with roaches. They're all over the property and eventually made their way into my unit. I complained about this repeatedly. Every time, management said they had "treated it," but nothing ever changed. The problem clearly runs deep in this building, and they simply refuse to take it seriously. And if all that wasn't enough, after everything I'd already been through, a new employee started working for the management company and -- unbelievably -- called my stalker directly, thinking it was me. This is after months of me explaining the severity of my situation and begging management not to make that exact mistake. It's beyond careless -- it's dangerous. For the amount of money they charge to live here, tenants deserve safety, professionalism, and basic human respect. Instead, what you'll get is a roach-infested building run by people who clearly don't care about their residents or their safety. There are plenty of great places on Burton Way, even older buildings that are managed far better than this so-called "luxury" complex. Do yourself a favor and stay far away. Unless you want to deal with stalkers, roaches, and management that puts you at risk -- this is not the place for you. This building is a complete disgrace, and the word luxury should be removed from its name entirely.

I explained to her about my income and clearly they saw back and forward, my statements and even mentioned I have a co-signer with good history for the past 6 years and she made me to do all that and without any phone call 30 minutes after she sent a bunch of email for rentals verifications, her manager "DIANA" very rudely sent an email about rejection because of my co-signers credit and on phone call she brought another excuses, my co-signer used to be a co-signer for another 2 people with the letter of explanation we have a proof everything was on time but it's only report. Also, pay stubs are more than x3 and even x5 for source of income. As today on 26th of Feb, not these people wasted $118 only for a small commission for themselves and money from me. Also not sending my $400 deposit check back. I am trying to keep emailing and calling and leaving voicemails for DIANA and CAROLINA but non of them communicating with me. This check supposed to send out last 2 weeks and after a week Diana called me and apologized they just sent out after 10 days and because I am in LA, I would get it in 3-4 business days and now we are a week more (3rd week) I do NOT HAVE MY CHECK AND ANY RESPOND from these people. If you are self-employed even high income, stay away from this unprofessional team who would judge you because you are just smart and making money from your business.

I have lived at The Charlie WeHo for about a year and a half, and it has been one of the most miserable living experiences of my life. Let me save you the time and the heartache. To be clear, I was extremely patient and reasonable about all of this for months. I tried to work with management, gave them time to fix things, and remained respectful throughout. It is only after getting nowhere that I am writing this. First, the Wingstop directly below the building has an exhaust system that pumps cooking fumes directly into the apartments. I am talking about bathroom vents, kitchen vents, and dryer vents all filling with fast food exhaust. This went on for months--multiple maintenance visits, multiple repair attempts--and it was never fully resolved. To this day, I cannot comfortably use my patio or open my windows during business hours. The HVAC design in the unit is genuinely broken. There is one vent in the bedroom, one in the living room, one in the bathroom, and none in the kitchen. The thermostat is located at the front door, which is the warmest spot in the apartment and receives no airflow. Their own maintenance supervisor, Tremaine, acknowledged this was a bad design when I submitted work orders. There is consistently a 4 to 8 degree temperature difference between rooms, regardless of the thermostat setting. You cannot leave the AC on overnight without waking up freezing in one room and overheating in another. There were also ongoing issues with smoking in what is supposed to be a smoke-free building, as well as repeated noise disturbances. I made multiple complaints to management, and nothing was meaningfully addressed. When I finally asked to be let out of my lease due to these unresolved habitability issues, management initially indicated it could be worked out. Shortly after, they sent a letter from their property management law firm, Karsaz Law, formally denying my request and claiming none of my complaints could be verified. This is a building managed by Greystar, one of the largest property management companies in the country, and their response to months of documented issues was to involve lawyers. They are now asking me to repay a concession in order to move out. I do not consider this a legitimate concession, as the Wingstop opened months after I moved in (around August 2025), and the exhaust stack they attempted to repair multiple times clearly shows they were aware of the issue affecting residents. This situation was not caused by me, yet I am being expected to pay for it. After I pushed back with documentation, AQMD complaint records, and written correspondence--including acknowledgment from their own staff--they eventually agreed to early termination. However, I have still not moved out because they expect me to repay an $8,000 concession, which effectively leaves me stuck. The location on Santa Monica Blvd is convenient, and the building looks nice from the outside. But if you actually have to live here and something goes wrong, you are on your own. Management will ignore you, deflect responsibility, not meet you in person, and escalate to legal action before resolving legitimate issues by a simple chat. The lawyer still has not replied to me when I asked for a discount or prorate on the overall concession. In addition, the units facing Santa Monica are loud due to traffic and the shotty windows they installed. I wanted this to be a 5 year+ home but they ruined it with Wing Stop, overpriced units and bad attitude. Look elsewhere.

I was going to sign a 16 month lease (2 months free) During the application process, I had to pay a $400 nonrefundable holding fee and $50 application fee to save my unit and then they have to check on my recent taxes , last 3-6 months of bank statements, and email my current building for my rental history verification. Also, if you have an emotional support animal, you do have to provide a letter from your doctor who issued ur fur baby as an ESA animal. It's very strict. This process took about 5-7 days. I'm just sharing you guys my experience with Qwil Apartments. Hopefully, I can save u guys some time and money if you are not willing to pay double the deposit if your rental history verification isn't perfect. Awesome building though.

This building is brand spanking new and pretty much central to everything. The building definitely stands out from all the others in the area. Love being one of the first people to live in a brand new unit that nobody's ever lived in before. I've rented from this company in the past Frost Chaddock. They are super on top of things and really go out of their way to make sure you are happy. Their model on the penthouse level is made of glass floor to ceiling and overlooks paramount studios, the Hollywood sign, Griffith, and some downtown views. I love our unit!!!! They went all out on appliances, they put a lot of thought on the fixtures. Definitely went all out on Amenities. There's not a lot of traffic on Wilton at night so I get great sleep. They also are dog friendly and have a dog run called the pupper club lol that runs the entire side of the building which my dog is obsessed with. If you are looking for a new place definitely add this place on your list to check out. I Highly recommend!

I never got to use the pool and I've lived here since August 2023. In the last few months, there has been ongoing construction at a massive scale that has been incredibly disruptive for every tenant that lives here. Scaffolding everywhere, our balconies torn out (unusable since September), construction crews everywhere which slows down ability to use our elevators, affects privacy when they're working outside your patio doors, blocks street parking and traffic flow on our already busy street, etc. There is jackhammering, drilling, hammering, etc. The decibel level of the jackhammering was so loud for a couple days that I had to take my dog and leave my apartment to try and find somewhere dog friendly to work from while it was going on. The jackhammering put a hole in my bedroom wall and when replacing windows they chipped the paint around the sill. Both of these things required a crew to come into my unit, two separate times, to fix. This caused added disruption and displaced me again as I tried to find somewhere I could work in quiet. There are tarps hanging over doors and windows blocking any natural light. While our windows and patio doors were replaced to nicer, more insulated models, they did not replace the screens which means if we leave doors or windows open, bugs can (and do) enter the units. We won't get screens for months, as stated in an email we received. There is 0 airflow in these apartments right now and with the added lack of natural light, it's taking a toll on both wellbeing and habitability. Shapell has shown very little empathy or understanding and frankly has been blatantly disrespectful and indifferent to what tenants are going through. There are people here with pets, with newborns, who work from home, etc. This construction is slated to go on until at least May, but with them being behind schedule, I wouldn't be surprised if it lasts until summer. There is also an imbalance and inequality in who is being offered a chance to break their lease early without a penalty. Every single resident in this complex should be getting a monthly rent concession for the severe impact this construction is having on everyone who pays premiere prices to live in this area (without access to a number of our advertised amenities). I enjoyed living here the last 2+ years up until this all started, and still really appreciate our onsite/maintenance staff, our location, my neighbors. I don't envy the position our office manager has to be in with what Shapell is putting us all through. But if you're considering moving here, I'd seriously recommend holding off until this renovation project is done, or at least come in armed with a lot of questions to get an accurate picture of what to expect (and get it in writing that you can break your lease without penalty).

For the positives of living here - it's truly one of the best neighborhoods in LA. We're so close and walking distance to The Grove, LACMA, La Brea Tar Pits/Hancock Park. Dog-friendly and great neighbors! Everyone in the building says hi and I believe there is a strong sense of community and just general good vibes. I really love living in this community. For the downside, and it's a big one, it's been the construction project that has commenced. As many individuals have noted, our pool has been closed since the end of 2023 and we've been given false timelines of when it would be reopened. It's an amenity that doesn't effectively exist and likely won't for a long time. Terrible noise non-stop during business hours Monday through Friday, and it has just overall decreased quality of life. Dust and lack of sunlight, since they've boarded our windows - lack of airflow. Additionally, the construction has caused damages within the unit too. Cracks in the ceiling, drywall coming down, and all of this combined with poor transparency. Everything they communicate is just ChatGPT BS and there's no human empathy behind.

All the while the rooftop repairs add a beautiful extra level of deep bass banging to this symphony of LOUD NOISE. Today the neighbor from below who plays piano daily has not yet begun their daily practice of the same section of classical music that is repeated at least 20 times per day. Yes the rooms are big and yes the building manager Sylvia is lovely, polite and friendly, as are the building's handymen, but the amount of noise pollution I've suffered since moving in this building has been nothing short of staggering. If you are a person who leaves at 7am for work and returns late at night, then you won't care but if you are at home at any point during the day, be prepared for this insanity. Also, repairs, whenever they occur, will take LITERAL MONTHS to complete. The rooftop work began in the summer and it is currently December. Check the other videos posted for the noise level. If there is ever a maintenance issue, Martin will come and fix it usually under 24 hours. I love the pool and jacuzzi area; its a nice area to relax and perfect for kids or to just catch some sun rays. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. In addition, they have a really nice gym, with pelotons to use! The apartments are clean and well kept. They also have a parking garage with assigned spots so you don't have to worry about parking. Laundry units are on every floor- shared paid laundry. Overall, we enjoy living here and would definitely recommend it for someone looking for a place to live in LA.

While the units are all completely updated, it's an old building and now and then you'll hear it and feel it. There were issues with the pipes beneath the wall in my kitchen above the sink that were never a major problem but never resolved either. But that's weho for you- aged very gracefully. At least this neighborhood. The building itself is in the middle of the norma triangle which is one of the best neighborhoods in west hollywood to live in. It is safe, quiet, upscale, charming, and lovely. Ascent offers some perks, like a (very small) rooftop pool with an unobstructed view of downtown los angeles that's absolutely priceless. My jaw fell when I toured and saw it for the first time. It was not worth the price I paid. Like I said I moved in july of '19 into a 730some square foot studio... a large studio for sure. And it was $2,595. At the time I think that it might have been closer to fair, and I also might not have known any better. A year and some months went by and in the midst of the pandemic I found a larger 1 bedroom down the street (closer to santa monica blvd) for $2k a month- plus utilities that I now pay (ascent includes all utilities and cable tv in the rent...) meaning i am now living in a larger and nicer apartment for a net of $350 less per month. It's a lovely building with a lot of charm and elegance, they just are still charging too much for it. I see since I moved out that there are like 6 apartments that have been vacated just on my floor alone and I don't wonder why.
