As a female, I know how I have been scammed by mechanics. So I found true value in Christian Brothers Automotive-Peoria, Lake Pleasant Pkwy! I found this establishment via word of mouth from all the way in Michigan. Their reputation precedes itself. They are honest, knowledgeable, fair and they provide quality service. Tom, and the entire staff served with a smile. Overall, I would highly recommend this Christian Brother Automotive to anyone. We'll stick with them!

I have only favorable things to say about Max Automotive. I bought a 21-year-old Honda Civic to…read moreshuttle my dogs between my house and my mother's house. I got what I paid for and it needed some TLC mechanically. When I took it to Honda to get an oil change, they advised me that it had an oil leak and needed an inspection to the tune of $250 to diagnose the problem. I reached out to a friend who is car-savvy for advice on where to take it, and he pointed me here. The scheduler was super friendly and efficient and got me on the books a few days after my call. The vibe was completely different than the dealership, as I felt like the folks at Max Automotive genuinely cared about getting me taken care of and figuring what the issue was with the vehicle. They also understood that at over 20 years old and nearly 200,000 miles, I wasn't going to perform any heroics for this car. We came up with a good plan to keep the car running for as long as possible with as minimal maintenance as possible. I look forward to working with the team here for maintenance of my new old car.

Very disappointing experience with Max Automotive…read more I brought my vehicle (2016 V6 Mustang) to Max Automotive on 9/30/26 to have the thermostat replaced. When I arrived, I was told there was coolant everywhere, that it would need to be cleaned up, and that they would need to take a look at it. I simply asked how much that additional work would cost. Instead of giving me an estimate or even offering to inspect the vehicle, I was told, "We're not going to do this. There are many automotive places you can take it to." That response was extremely disappointing and a complete waste of my time. I brought my vehicle to an automotive repair shop expecting them to diagnose the issue, explain what needed to be done, and provide an estimate so I could make an informed decision. If Max Automotive wasn't willing or able to handle the situation, they could have simply said so when I initially scheduled the appointment rather than having me bring the vehicle in. I understand that not every repair shop can or wants to take on every job, but dismissing a customer after they have made the trip to the shop and refusing to even provide an estimate is poor customer service. I would not recommend Max Automotive based on this experience.

Since I don't drive a lot of miles, I wanted a second opinion before spending that kind of money. I heard about Ken's through word of mouth, along with all the great Google and Yelp reviews mentioning their honesty, fair pricing, and no-pressure approach. I'm glad I listened. They performed an oil and filter change and did a complete inspection of the areas the dealership claimed needed immediate repair or replacement. Ken's told me those items were actually fine and showed me the brake measurements, explaining that my brakes still have about half their life remaining. No scare tactics, no upselling -- just honest, straightforward service. The total bill came to just over $100. That alone says a lot about their integrity. This is truly the kind of trustworthy Mom & Pop auto repair shop that's hard to find anymore. The son and wife who took over after the original Ken ( the dad) retired and are carrying on a great reputation. Professional, honest, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for an honest mechanic.

So I started bringing my car there for annual maintenance and was quite satisfied. A few months ago during my annual maintenance they told me I needed new bushings and control arms that would be almost $7000. To say I was shocked was an understatement. A friend recommended I take my car to Tony's Auto Service Center, located at 5602 E Thomas Rd, which I did and asked they check out the bushings and control arms. They called me several hours later to say I DID NOT need new bushings and control arms. They said that a vehicle with 54K miles on it is no where near requiring this repair. They said they don't see vehicles requiring this repair until after at least 100K miles, especially Toyotas. In addition, after checking Car Fax, to which apparently mechanics report every car repair they perform, they noted that at 30K miles they performed a maintenance type repair that isn't required until 50K miles. As a retired single woman I feel like they took advantage of me by lying about what had to be done on my car. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. I cannot begin to tell you how upset I am. DO take your car to Tony's Auto Service Center, even though it may be far from where you live. Call 480-945-7788 and ask for Mike or Scott and tell them Bob's friend Cindy referred you.
