Went on the Shamrock for a half-day rock-fish trip. It was a great trip overall. The captain made sure to find the best fishing spots, and we would move somewhere else as soon as the fish stopped biting. The deckhand was very good at explaining everything, and both him and the captain made sure everything went smoothly and that all the fish that were caught got onto the boat and that nobody got tangled up. This was my six-year-old daughter's first time out on the ocean or even in a boat. She was extremely excited and very much enjoyed catching her first fish. It was a memory of a lifetime for my whole family. It was the best part of our vacation, hands down. Everybody on the boat caught their limit and seem to be having a really good time. I can't say enough about how accommodating the boat staff were.

    Lots of rockfish

It was an early start to the day (5:30) and we wrapped up at around 9:30. Deckhands were friendly and we went home with the limit and about 35 pounds of rockfish. Shamrock boat comfortably fit 18 people.

Each person can keep 5 fish

We had a fantastic time deep sea fishing yesterday. The entire crew was great, helpful, and very patient. (I kept getting my line tangled, and they were very quick to fix it and get me back fishing.) The restroom on board was very much appreciated and needed. We caught 5 fish each, including Rock fish, and a huge Ling Cod.

Awesome day of fishing. Great folks at Betty Kay's Charters. They took a rookie like me in and showed me the ropes. Lol. We all caught our limit today in what seemed like record time. The captain even took the time to stop so we could get an amazingly close look at a family of orca whales. If you're looking for a knowledgable, experienced, friendly crew, Betty Kay's is the only way to go when on the South Oregon Coast. Just minutes from the Coos Bay and North Bend areas. You can book your tickets right on their website. Now go fish.

Had a great time today! The trip was easy to book and pay for on line. Captain Bill and Bam Bam were great. Bam's enthusiasm and positive attitude really made the trip fun. He was alway right there to untangle a line or net your fish and remove the hooks. Caught lots of fish. They had fresh coffee and donuts when we boarded. That was an unexpected treat. We also saw a whale shark!!! I'm recommending this charter to all my friends and family.

    We caught great Rockfish

Boat and tackle were really bad. Didn't bleed fish and only used shrimp flies. Really disappointed.

The boat was clean, well maintained and the deckhand did a great job of explaining safety procedures.

California. I gave them a weeks' notice and asked if they could have the boat brought down from there Florence dealership, they agreed. I confirmed the day before arrival that I was going to be at the dealership around 1pm, once I arrived, I was told that they were not able to bring the boat down and I would need to drive an hour away to the Florance dealership to see the boat. I can understand if they didn't have time to bring the boat down to Coos Bay on only a possibility of a boat sale, but if they would have told me that they were unable to, and I would have just drove Stright there from the airport and not wasted my time going to the Coos Bay dealership. The salesperson (Brian) said he would go with me to the Florence dealership, but they were extremely busy (there was not one customer in site), so I said no problem and just went myself. I took a look at the boat, spoke with a very nice and knowledgeable guy from the Florance dealership and headed back to the Coos Bay dealership to discuss buying the boat. Called Brian and let him know I was on my way, but he was at home already (3:30) and that we could go over final pricing on Monday. I was thinking, I came all this way and was going to buy this boat that day but needed to wait until Monday now. (Note, boat sales are very slow, and Y Marina is closing the Florance Dealership down, but couldn't take a little extra time that day to sell a 100K plus boat). Call on Monday, settled on a price for the Boat, ask if they would be interested in also setting up the boat with electronics and kicker motor and asked for the addition cost, they said sure thing and they would get back to me that afternoon or the following morning. I didn't hear back, so I called the following day to finalize the deal and asked why I had not heard back from them sooner, then I was told that the boat was sold to someone else. I mentioned that we had agreed to a price and the boat was sold and that I was just waiting on the accessory pricing and installation lead time. They offered no apology and just said that there Florence store sold the boat and didn't communicate that with them. I said it seems that you do not communicate well with each other and that the boat should not have been sold out from underneath me. I have seen good reviews about this dealership, and it might have been this way at one time, but my experience showed me that they are very disconnected and scattered and communicate poorly with potential customers. I don't think sales work very well this way in a slow market (or any market). I guess maybe they got comfortable with the hot boat sales market of the past and it shows. I ended up buying a boat and Clemens Marina. Very knowledgeable staff and communicated well and great pricing. Y Marina missed out on $150K sale, due to lack of effort, scattered and poor sales Commnication.

Keep in mind my father-in-law is retired, on a fixed income and loves to fish and was in need of a kicker motor for his older 17' Spectrum. He spent countless hours trying to figure out exactly what he needed and to find a dealer that would work with him on motor setup and service that was in his budget. With no luck in the Eugene/Springfield area as well as online he happened to stop by Y-Marina in Coos Bay talked with Scott, who took the time to figure out what exactly what my father-in-law needed. They settled on a new 9.9 Yamaha and it was the best price in the state or online. Needless to say it fished great. As it would happen last fall the old 60hp motor on the Spectrum started acting up so he took it in to be repaired at Y-Marina and they would have fixed it for him, but Scott was able to get him into a brand new 60hp motor for a better price than he could find for a used motor from any other source locally or online. Now he can fish worry free, and just as important we as a family, don't have to worry about him on the water. It is a joy to go out and fish worry free, thanks to the sales and service provided by Y-Marina. He always speaks highly of the customer service he received at Y-Marina. The staff dealt with him in an honest and friendly manner and went above and beyond. Sincerely, Steve Swartout

I'm writing this review after several months of use of my purchase from y Marina. I went from a…read moredrift boat to a smokercraft pro Alaskan . I looked for almost a year hesitant on pulling the trigger. I wanted something reliable as I usually have kids fishing in the boat with me. I was also looking for a good deal new or used. So when I saw a boat that looked like something that would fit that bill I went to y Marina. That's where I met Bubba. He was excellent, easy to talk to and pointed me in the right direction. He even went out of his way to give my toddler son some snacks to keep him entertained. Upon purchase I voiced a concern with the boat and he immediately got on the phone and assured me if there were any problems y Marina would take care of us. I purchased a used boat this time but next time I will be purchasing a new boat from y Marina . We have used the boat at least 15 time since purchase a few months ago. We have never had a single issue . Thanks again Bubba and to all the staff at y Marina that helped us. From the office ladies filing our paperwork to the mechanics checking over the boat before purchase.

The marina has over 400 moorage slips, a six lane boat launch, fish cleaning stations, restrooms and showers. The RV park offers full hook-ups, restrooms, showers, laudromat, and recreation room. Both offer daily, weekly and monthly rates. It's a great place to charter a boat for fishing. The rates are pretty reasonable in this small coastal town. You can also try to fish or crab on your own from the dock. We enjoyed our time here. Everyone was so friendly and willing to share their fishing adventures with us. We would definitely recommend if you're looking for a place to charter a boat or fish off the dock while staying at the RV park.

Yep. That's right. In between all of the commercial vessels that call this marina home you'll find locals and visitors trying their hand at catching a Dungeness crab. Charleston Marina is one of the top recommendations for crabbing from shore. It's easily accessed, spacious, and can be productive. I was amazed at how many people were hanging out trying their luck. We dropped our first crab ring, and after a few minutes we pulled it up and found a lot of crabs! None were keepers but it was so cool to know all of them were hanging out. This is a must do during your visit and the bait shop near the docks offers the equipment for rent, so make it happen. You'll also find a lot of charter boats leaving from here too. I took one but that's another review!

Most important he asked my mother (who is a WOC) if she brought gun board the ship Cause he didn't want her to put it to his head if she wanted to go back sooner He then asked if she had bricks in her purse. He said he was joking and my mom called him out on not having a joking tone nor did he ask this to any other person on the ship. When I heard this I was livid I talked to John/Sharky and he defended Josh Even though he agreed that it was wrong A simple honest apology would have gone a long way but Josh then said that he was not sorry nor did he do anything wrong and it was our fault for taking his joke wrong As we walked away Josh was smirking This company is ok with stereotyping and making people feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed John/sharky needs to educate those he employs so that this doesn't happen again Do I expect it no, this is the same man that has not even put a pLock on his bathroom door though in previous complaints he said he would. We were already planning out next trip out with them but guess what this town is full of charters Bottom line if you care about how you are treated NEVER GO TO SHARKYS
