For my husband's birthday I decided to give him a charter fishing trip. We woke up bright and early and signed in. My husband told me to take seasick pill even after I told him that I don't get seasick. I kind of think this was the cause because... Yep, you guessed it, after we were on the bumpy water and I had caught one whole fish, I started feeding the fish. My entire trip was me feeding fish. Oh, wait, except the one time I decided to feed try the reel again and slipped going head to head with the fish in the bins beneath me. I could have sworn one was screaming "Nooooooo!!!!" As I was trying to avoid him. The crew was so amazing! They had to try and balance taking care of me along with the many fishermen/women/kids. They even changed location of smoking because I told them it was making it worse for me (yes, they smoke on the boat). The crew caught my fish for me so when hubby and the rest were finished we had plenty of fish. I highly recommend taking this charter and plan on going again sooner than later...but without the seasick pills. Really, I think that was the cause. ;) ........ .. .... ....................

The next year we booked a couple of charters (the bottom fish and the long leader ) with Prowler charters based mostly on the reasonable price compared to other charters in the area and they did not disappoint! It is family owned and run from the office to the ocean and they are helpful and happy to help. Our whole family have been on 3 bottom fish / long leader trips since and caught our limit every time. This week my son and I went out on the tuna trip which was a long day as you have to go out really far to hit the hot spots but, man it was worth it! Captain Wayne navigated the area like a champ and we were hitting multiple fish... up to 7 fish on at a to time more than once and I gotta say the chaos ran like clock work with the 'tuna system' they have going and everyone was involved in the team effort following the lead of the crew! Probably the best day fishing of my life... we packed it in after landing 102 big tuna on board! We will be back, you can count on that!

We left the dock around 7:30, cruised out about 20 minutes and had fish on as soon as we dropped our lines. We caught so many fish we started throwing back the small ones. We opted for the 2.5 hours with 90 minutes free and it still went by so fast. The dunes are challenging and keeps you on your toes until you hit the coast which is gorgeous and a ton of fun to cruise on. A huge shout out to Dave who made the check in and out seamless and Jeremy who was on it when we got stuck after the back wheel clipped a tree on a narrower trail ( suggestion on going back to where we clipped the tree and cutting it down: evidence shows we where NOT the first person to hit that tree.....we will have to pay to have it repaired fingers crossed it won't be that much! Alex and Jeremy helped us out, were super accommodating and welcoming. Jeremy also talked to us about how the helmets are cleaned (steam cleaned before going into a sanitizing oven for 3 hours) which was important to know. We hesitated on top of a dune and ended up getting stuck but we gave Alex a call and he and Jeremy came up to help us right away. When feeling a little nervous about approaching a dune, Alex and Jeremy were incredibly helpful talking to us about it too. Jeremy then demonstrated what to do when driving up to the top of the dune before going down the other side which helped us feel more at ease. Alex and Jeremy are excellent and deserve much praise. The pricing is also better compared to Spinreel too. Alex definitely seems like an experienced leader there. He and Jeremy are a great team and are professional, kind and knowledgeable. These guys are great assets to the company. Hope they are valued and appreciated! Would definitely come back to rent again on a future trip.

They told me all the big sand dunes are south of reedsport and the john dellenback trail was recommended. No ATVs are allowed here so you don't have to worry about being run over while trekking the dunes. They accept multiple passes here, just make sure whatever you are using is displayed on your dashboard. There are bathrooms that are pit toilets but the women's was locked when I was there so everyone had to use the men's side

The John Dellenback Trailhead is an interpretive trail and dunes area open to the public. One of…read morethe huge benefits of the trail is that there is no recreational vehicle use allowed there, so you don't have to worry about being run over by a dune buggy or atv while taking in the beauty of the dunes. To get to the trail, take the turn for the eel creek campground and follow signs for the trailhead. There are bathroom facilities available. Make sure to purchase a pass- you can purchase a single day pass on location or purchase a yearly pass for all the Oregon state parks in Coos Bay at the visitor center for about $30. If you are the active type, you can rent a sandboard and sandboard down the dunes, which is a lot of fun! The trail begins in a wooded area and takes you down a path of dirt that gradually turns into sand as you arrive near the dunes. You see a lot of local plants and wildlife, and there are some exhibits to check out and rest spots with benches along the way. The trail will begin to take an upturn and then you will suddenly come out of the trees onto what looks like a huge desert.... it is breathtaking! You can take the same way back on your way out or for some new sights take the trail located closer to the large mountain-esque dune. Really good hike for kids- they love rolling down the dunes and feeling the sand between their toes. Just be sure you are okay with finding sand everywhere for the next month. Happy hiking!

Although it was a record high temperature day, the shade was lovely. The most surprising thing was the kitchen with running water and a sink. Great place for a large gathering.
