We're so happy we ignored the couple shady looking negative reviews on google to decide for…read moreourselves, because we had the BEST time! We took our boys (ages 6 & 8) and they were able to catch limits of rockfish with one parent per kid helping to hold the rods in addition to catching our own limits. We all had a great time and caught a ton of fish. The captain and deckhand were awesome and made sure we had all the help we needed. It was absolutely worth the drive from Idaho and we'll definitely be back for another trip!

For my husband's birthday I decided to give him a charter fishing trip. We woke up bright and early and signed in. My husband told me to take seasick pill even after I told him that I don't get seasick. I kind of think this was the cause because... Yep, you guessed it, after we were on the bumpy water and I had caught one whole fish, I started feeding the fish. My entire trip was me feeding fish. Oh, wait, except the one time I decided to feed try the reel again and slipped going head to head with the fish in the bins beneath me. I could have sworn one was screaming "Nooooooo!!!!" As I was trying to avoid him. The crew was so amazing! They had to try and balance taking care of me along with the many fishermen/women/kids. They even changed location of smoking because I told them it was making it worse for me (yes, they smoke on the boat). The crew caught my fish for me so when hubby and the rest were finished we had plenty of fish. I highly recommend taking this charter and plan on going again sooner than later...but without the seasick pills. Really, I think that was the cause. ;) ........ .. .... ....................

We left the dock around 7:30, cruised out about 20 minutes and had fish on as soon as we dropped our lines. We caught so many fish we started throwing back the small ones. On the way back in we opted to pull the crab pots...came home with 8 nice crab. We paid Jim $1 per fish to filet and package them for us. Bring an ice chest! We went back to our rental house and had an amazing fish fry and crab fest!

Transitioning equipment from fishing for rockfish to Salmon went quickly & efficiently! John is very knowledgeable about the local history of the area and local sea life. Just a "heads up" - fish will be delivered to a nearby fish cleaning service that you pay an additional charge to have fish cleaned. (We had not brought extra cash with us) Highly recommend Sharky's.

We caught over 40 cohos in a 7 hour span and that doesn't count the hits that we lost before we got the fish to the boat. Todd has this river absolutely dialed in! The boat was stocked with a cooler full of sodas and water, he had snacks for the morning and a large sack lunch for us as well. I do about three fall salmon trips a year but typically they are in the Tillamook streams but Todd has me hooked and I will definitely be making it down to the Umpqua next year for another trip.

If you're looking for a quick hike look no further. Lake Marie is one of those tucked away spots on…read moreyour way to the Umpqua Lighthouse. It's a spot that's easily passed unless you're curious about the random parking spaces. This lake has a small beach (small as in 20 yards of sand), but the real beauty is the trail that follows the lake. Walking/Running The trail is only a mile long and is as quick as you like to make it. It's a relatively easy hike as the slopes are gradual, if you're interested in trail running this would be a great spot for beginners. Swimming I saw one person swim out to the middle of the lake. It's really not that big, but people are in there. Kayak As we were leaving, a group of 4 people were bringing their kayaks in. So don't hesitate to bring yours. You can launch it right off the sand bar. Fishing Not sure what the lake holds, but I saw random people fishing along the lake. Picnic Area Along the path you'll find picnic tables tucked away. If you head to the left side of the lake you'll find them. The right side doesn't have any. For being such a small lake, there is a lot to do here. My only suggestion is to bring mosquito repellent. Have fun and live healthy!

That definitely less into the positive experience there but it was beautiful nonetheless. I would not go out of my way to come here unless I was fishing but if you're in the area and in the mood for a walk near the water this is a great place to stop
