We stumbled across Bandon as a 2 night camp lay over on a longer trip and decided to come back and try some of the awesome fishing and crabbing that seemed to be going on. The next year we booked a couple of charters (the bottom fish and the long leader ) with Prowler charters based mostly on the reasonable price compared to other charters in the area and they did not disappoint! It is family owned and run from the office to the ocean and they are helpful and happy to help. Our whole family have been on 3 bottom fish / long leader trips since and caught our limit every time. This week my son and I went out on the tuna trip which was a long day as you have to go out really far to hit the hot spots but, man it was worth it! Captain Wayne navigated the area like a champ and we were hitting multiple fish... up to 7 fish on at a to time more than once and I gotta say the chaos ran like clock work with the 'tuna system' they have going and everyone was involved in the team effort following the lead of the crew! Probably the best day fishing of my life... we packed it in after landing 102 big tuna on board! We will be back, you can count on that! read more

The captain is the bomb! Unfortunately we were delayed due to a minus tide but he continued to take us out. Upon leaving the port area we encountered white caps. Instead of going full force through them the captain chose to be safe and wait it out. We sat in the boat waiting in the water. When he felt it was safe, he proceeded through and we were off on our journey. We all caught more than minimum of 5 and the captain was more than willing to teach my sons how to fish. This was our first time out with Prowler. The weather was amazing. I like that they stay closer in cus last time out on a charter I puked but caught an easier limit in deeper water. So that part is a toss up. The crew was great. Very friendly guys. Very personable. Adding crabbing is a no brained. We will definitely be back!!! Thanks guys! read more

These guys are awesome. We went with the bottom-fish package (depends mostly on season/who else wants to go for different fish types - this one seemed to be the most common). You meet at 6am and fish until around 11-12. It's a family run business, everyone is great and really friendly / happy to give information for those who are new (like we were). Also lots of seasoned guys seem to go as well. Law says you can catch 7 bottom fish and 2 salmon, and you'll probably get to the 7 bottom fish, although salmon you need to get lucky unless you go on the salmon-boat. After fishing, there's some guys who will fillet all the fish you caught for $.50/ea. Then back at the shop they can vaccum seal the fillets if you want to freeze them for $1/bag (as many as you want in a bag). Anyway, all in all, great trip and good people. The only thing I'll add is prepare for sea-sickness if you get noxious easily... and take dramamine the night before and probably the morning before too. read more

We booked a charter for rock/ling cod in August of 2018 for my girlfriend her step dad and myself . I also paid the extra 30$ to pull a crab pot , which was well worth it as I easily had a limit of monster keepers in "my pot". Had a great time . The seas were rough. But the captain and crew were friendly and knowledgeable . The deckhands worked their butts off helping with getting fish in the boat and untangling lines. My only complaint is we didn't catch more fish ( that's why they call it fishing not catching ) but we all went home with a nice bag of filets. There were two guys waiting at the dock who quickly and efficiently filet the fish. The captain's wife was Also set up near the back of their office offering to debone the filets and vacuum pack them for a minimal charge . ( I've never seen this service offering and I've been on several charter trips throughout norther California ) A+ for service, price and efficiency. I will definitely look to book with The Prowler on my next visit to Oregon read more

I tried to book a trip. The woman who answered the phone was short, curt and told me to call back tonight. I offered to email, and was rebuffed in the same curt manner. I thought this was strange since the website indicated the number was for "normal business hours" and offered a link for email contact. I always worry if bad customer service upfront is indicative that everything will be bad/unsafe, or if it's only harmless small coastal town rudeness toward outsiders. There aren't enough Yelp reviews to calm my fears, so I doubt I will ever call back. read more

After spending money on motels for 12 people then they call literally hours before ( when they originally stated they would call us within 2 day if they needed to cancel) to cancel. We were already there, a boat half their size ripped out with no problems. Now all of us are scrambling to go else where. Some of us had to stay the other half made arrangements out of another charter. Sad to say never again will we waste your time or OURS! We will gladly spend our money farther north. And as far as You stating no fishing is worth lives for sure true but at that the Captain should go back to boating school because many many other charters are ripping on out and working for a living instead of collecting checks! I've been fishing in Alaska, Hawaii, and many places on the east and west coast but Prowler Charters is my favorite. The trip is one price for everything no nickel and dime stuff. You may add a crab trap to your trip on the way back in which produced 11 crabs per trap on our trip. Great crew, decent gear fast help when needed. The best part is everyone had a limit of bottom fish and some ling cod limits. I had so much fun I went for a second trip same result. read more

A must go to place when you want to catch fish! These guys know where to go, are super nice and helpful and pretty much do everything for you. All you have to do is drop your line and reel in the fish! They even grab the line and take the fish off the hook and get you going right away again as they put your catch away in separate baskets. I was blown away how cheap this trip cost, yet they didn't treat it like a cheap trip. I would tell everyone to go with these guys. Simply awesome! BTW...... Caught our limits! Went out in April with a friend. This was the first charter I had been on since I was a teenager. These guys were great! They pay constant attention to everyone on the boat and make sure your line is never out of the water for long. It was only supposed to be a half day trip, but because of rough bar conditions in Bandon we left out of Charleston and then fished off Bandon. Our fishing time was a half day but the entire trip was longer. The captain knew where the best fishing was and took us there. I highly recommend Prowler Charters, great crew and well worth the money. read more

a perfect day creates a perfect memory.....Took my sons (ages 10 and 6) on their first fishing trip ever and had an absolutely amazing day thanks to the crew (and other customers) aboard the prowler fishing boat. We bought the bottom fishing package which left at 6am and returned around 11:30am. the day was beautiful, seas were calm and the skipper did a great job of getting us over the perfect spots all day.....everyone caught their limit. The first mate and skipper were patient with my sons, taught them great tips and even high fived them when they each caught fish and reeled them in all by their selves! It was a truly remarkable day that created lifelong memories! read more
