Long review but it was a valuable lesson... Remember you're going to get a great presentation from every company. If you have any questions, you'll even get their cell numbers. None of that matters, the quality of work and the final results is what matters the most and I care about. With each purchase I make, I must learn from my mistakes and I share my mistakes so no one has Going in just know most companies subcontract PERIOD. They show up w/Better View Windows gear on, but quickly you realize they are employees of another company. Make sure you ask, if they subcontract their work out and ask for the company's name so you can do your own research. The company and subcontractors quality must line up in the way they do business. If not, you will tell the difference. The awards companies get are for selling the product not necessarily the installation of the product. I love the style of the windows I picked out. I like different stuff. I'm not a cookie cutter girl. I was taking a risk and unsure how it was going to look but every time I pull into my driveway, I'm satisfied with my choice of window. The choice of window. Now, let's discuss installation. Before they get started, be sure to instruct them on what bathroom they can use. My personal bathroom upstairs is off limits (meds, etc.) Please use the guest bathroom downstairs. When they remove each window, make sure you look at wood to ensure is not rotten. They do not vacuum out the area free from bugs, spider webs, etc. They just plug in the window. I did not like that. Then when it came to the trim, it was average. I was particularly disturbed with the outcome of the big bay window. I was told the entire window area would be trimmed out. However, it was only the trim around the window. Be careful of the play on words. Make sure you point out every area and have it written in the contract. I was left with two different trim, one textured and one smooth. One white, and the other off white with rusty nails visible. Not a great finished product. They could send the subcontractors out to trim the entire area for an additional $300. This is the problem I have, you would think the company that sold you the windows would want the best in a finish product, but not so..once it's installed, and money collected, they're done, finished, adios, good-bye. Be very present, ask questions, and don't sign saying you're satisfied until the next day with a fresh set of eyes. read more

My husband is pretty particular in the quality of craftsmanship and knows his stuff - he and the team passed the sniff test! Tom and John were our dedicated crew for install. Scheduling, follow up and project manager (office staff) with this company is lacking in professionalism and work ethic. Our first project was ordering replacement windows. We were told the individual who verified window measurements was the guru at this. However, when the windows arrived for installation, two were incorrect, one as much as four inches two short. The replacements had to be ordered which took another week and a half to arrive and be installed. We received an estimate for a new roof which Shannon did promptly and expertly. However, "D. the project manager" repeatedly failed to both schedule the work or return our calls. He then failed to verify the order the ridge cap shingles meaning yet another delay with completion of this project. Because of Shannon's work ethic, we contacted Better View for yet a third project despite problems with both the windows and roof. What a mistake! No one would return our calls to schedule despite having a down payment for the project. John responded when it was apparent we were angry by their lack of response and progress. With numerous excuses including having a big job, we were finally scheduled. First the gutter guys called to push back the time of installation. Then they were just a "no show" at the scheduled time, arriving 5 hours late. We cancelled the job, calling another company who was prompt, professional, and efficient. read more

We met them years ago at the spring show in Virginia Beach. We live in Williamsburg VA. When we decided to replace a french door & the windows we got a price from them & visited their showroom. They went over the different types and quality of the different windows. When we got the price for the windows, they were $10,000 less than the same model house next to me. I was surprised because we got the highest grade. When the windows came in they worked with my schedule & the work was done in 2 days. We are very pleased with the windows & door. We had our home built-in 1992. It was always a challenge temperature-wise between the downstairs & upstairs. Once the work was done that problem went away. We have been through the summer & now the cold. We can set the temperature & the whole house is perfect. I must have had some leaky windows. That may seem like a small thing but they had to fabricate pieces to fix what a previous window installation contractor couldn't figure out how to do when they installed new windows. I highly recommend this business. We used them to replace all of our windows (19) about six months ago, along with a new front door and sidelights. I looked at several contractors, and received a quote from one other - a big box store. The reviews for Better View were good, and I watched an online interview with the owner. The sales rep was good, he outline options, made recommendations, but did not try to push us in any direction. I like that this company had several options/brands to choose from, and the reps outlined the pros and cons, most similar to what I had found on line. We ended up choosing Sunrise vinyl replacement windows. The rep gave us a realistic estimate of timeframe for manufacturing and installation. The company called to give us a status update after about 8 weeks; it took about 12 weeks to get the windows. They called us a few weeks later to set up an installation date. The installers showed up as promised on a Thursday, and were respectful, friendly, and professional. They kept us informed as to their progress, and treated our home as if were their own. They were unable to complete everything in one day due to weather, so they had to return the following day, Friday. Unfortunately, the installer was ill the following day. But we received a call from the owner first thing in the morning to let us know, and ask us if it would be possible to have them show up the following Monday. This impressed me more than anything else. I have worked with multiple contractors, and proactive communication seems to be in short supply. I was very impressed that they notified us immediately when there was an issue; I have other contractors just not show up and then I have to call to find out what happened. They came out Monday and finished as promised. The other item that made me happy is that they kept a neat worksite. Too many contractors don't clean up after themselves. Six months later, and the windows are working as advertised. I would definitely use this company again. read more

Did research before chosing my windows. Then looked at companies that carried the brand I wanted. Salesman came, went over options and did not try to pitch extras. They carry several brands at different cost points to chose from. He took measurements and gave me a WRITTEN quote to keep, which some companies did not. He also did not speake ill of other brands/companies. The owner came out for a measure recheck prior to placing my order. Windows arrived in 4 weeks as promised. Installer called for install at 9:00, which is exactly when my doorbell rang. Friendly, effecient staff. No trace they were ever here except for my beautiful windows, that I dont event want to cover with curtains. Can already feel the temperature difference in the house.
