*****Read the BBB complaints- there are several and just the last few months. Just the sly remarks, expressing their clients private information, shows what a poor company this is. Before giving them any money; if they tell you, they've contacted the IRS make them show you proof. They're not showing it to me now on the BBB complaint!***** I guess it's my own fault for trusting this company. The correspondence was questionable when I had difficulty dialing their numbers to get a recording more than several times telling me it was an invalid phone number; there were a couple numbers that gave the same recording. Recently, I had asked them to stop activity on my account so hopefully be refunded some of my money. I decided to go another route and I would've been happy to just go our separate ways. The company is now refusing to take calls and return any correspondence. To start , they have refused to send me any initial correspondence that they claim that they contacted the IRS back in August. Today I still have not seen that paper. Early September, there was a lot letter on my paystub that I feel they should have been able to prevent if they were actively working on my case. When I told them I wanted to retain an attorney Early September, miraculously, my case was close to a resolution. I have also asked for those papers Regarding the activity they claim to have accomplished, And again, no reply. If you look at my photos closely, you will see there is an email that actually states my file is in review when prior I received I was close to a resolution. I feel I should be entitled to this information since "Better Tax" (and I use the term better lately ), feels I am not entitled to any reimbursement. Overall, the company is very vague about activity and move your case from employee to employee. Online information shows about eight employees and they both about multiple teams, Again, questionable and not very reputable actions. This company is a bate and switch and misleading company. I initially signed up with the jacob telling me everything is taken care of $29k IRS debt for $8k TOTALLY on the first phone call, I repeated are you sure. If so, sign me up and then I was offered a personal loan for $8k with UCFS . I have been working with this agency since summer of 2025 to resolve a tax debt with payments. By december 4 they continued to tell me they are waiting for a response from IRS. Meanwhile i am being threatened by IRS to put a lien on my property and the original debt has accrued over 1,000$ interest. Better Tax Relief gave me false information to scare me about the threat I was facing from the IRS to induce me into spending $12.5k to have a team of expert tax accountants and attorneys to help me. When I started working with them, I quickly realized the people handling my case did not know anything about tax codes (I knew more). I asked to speak with a tax expert and had an hour long conversation where I found out later I was given incorrect advice. Then my project manager forgot to move my account into the "data complete" category so my taxes could get started. I discovered this weeks later when facing an important deadline. Then when I received my tax return I discovered a huge number of omissions and errors - including not itemizing when it would have saved me money, leaving out essential deductions that I discussed with the tax expert. It turns out the tax expert took zero notes and they weren't in my file. All this was in the face of multiple missed meetings on their end, a complete lack of accountability, what seems to be a purposefully confusing process, and it was all predicated on lies. When I asked when I was going to get the value for my money they said "the bulk of it happens in the resolution phase". I had to use an AI assistant to find all the errors and mistakes in the tax return which were many. This was clearly not an army of experts and the looming deadlines that they told me I was facing were nowhere in my file. They didn't seem to exist. I asked for a transcript of all IRS records and communications and nothing about them getting ready to come after me and having a record of specific assets that they brought up to scare me before I gave them a huge sum of money was in there. It was clear I needed to hire someone else to help me - that the feeling I was not working with a legitimate service was probably true. I demanded a refund. They asked zero questions - which is typical - whenever I spoke with them I would have to say over and over again "Apologies are not solutions. Please give me a solution". My refund demand was deflected with word salad responses, accusations that it was all my fault and absolutely zero attempt to resolve my issue aside from a final email that was titled "Our commitment to resolve this amicably" which included zero dates and more word salad about how it wasn't their fault - oh - and how they had put so much work into my case they had to charge me. But they always said when I was concerned about what I paid for "the bulk of the work happens in the resolution phase" which we never got to. I also said I should not have to pay 12k for teaching their tax preparers on how to do my taxes. That is ridiculous. I am going to have to sue them and file complaint with the BBB bureau to reclaim my money. There are many complaints on BBB. Stay away from this business. read more

They promised to make a deal with the IRS for my tax debt. They told me there is a ONE TIME fee and they will call me with a plan in few days. After I paid the "one time fee" they told me there is Phase 2 and they needed an additional $2000. They said someone will follow up with me and explain that the first representative misinformed me and to get my refund back. I am very disappointed in Better Tax Relief at this point. It's very disheartening that when it comes time for them to collect your money, everything goes very smoothly their Johnny on the spot, eager, and willing to help; however, when you have an issue with the IRS, you cannot get a response. I received a notice from my HR department stating that they are going to garnish my wages at 25%, in this day and age is a huge blow. I'm sure many can understand, especially if you're going to Better Tax Relief, to get help. I've called multiple times... At least four or five without any response regarding this matter. I have tried calling on different days and different times of day. I have sent text messages on top of the phone calls and still no response. I've reached out to supervisors and the person who signed me up initially and still no response. I was better off keeping my $7000 and just paying it to the IRS. It seems like at this point. I will tell you that I had less than 50K in debt before I met these guys, and now I have $66K in debt because of their fees, and got no relief from their so-called programs. They will lie to you about their ability to do things, like getting the IRS to postpone your payments and reduce your debt. It is all a lie. Wow, I'm looking at Konstance's review below and this sounds just like what happened with me. I initially spoke to a gentleman by the name of Alex Carrasco who explained the process to me. He told me what my fee was and I accepted. I asked him on multiple occasions if this was the only fee I was going to be required to pay and he said yes multiple times that I asked him the same question. He told me that he would be calling me back in seven days to let me know the outcome of the investigation. When I spoke to the second individual, named Maya, she said I'm sorry that there was a misunderstanding. This was no misunderstanding! This was blatant lie to get or attempt to get my business. Alex never told me that there would be a second caller to spend time on the phone with me to explain the next phase. He made it seem like he was the case manager he would get the attorneys and accountants to do the investigation and then he would call me back to tell me what the result was. He mentioned to me that if I was not satisfied with the work that they did or with the arrangements that they made with the IRS, that I would get a refund. What I got from Maya was completely different. On her phone conversation they had not even done the investigation with the IRS. They had just looked at the facts of my case. Looking at facts of my case and an investigation or two very different things. Maya spent about an hour on the phone with me trying to explain phase 2. At the end of this phase 2 conversation, she asked for another approximate $3100. No! No! No! At this time, I told Maya that Alex had told me on multiple occasions that the fee that I paid upfront was the only fee I was going to have to pay Turns out what Alex told me was a flat out lie. This is very deceptive business practice on behalf of better tax relief. Maya tried to convince me that this was the best for me that they could really help me out blah blah blah, but my response to her was, "If you do not resolve my tax issue, then I will have the $3100 to pay you plus whatever I have to pay in taxes." Again, no! Again, she tried to make it minimal by offering me payment plans, as if that was going to help. I told Maya that I wanted a refund for the fee that I paid them based on the fact that Alex lied to me by telling me this fee was the only fee I was going to have to pay. She told me that the work had already been done. I doubt it! This was all about money and getting money upfront! Again, terrible, terrible business practice. BEWARE: If anyone is considering using better tax relief, save yourself the grief, frustration, and disappointment. Don't do it! The employees are not all honest and they do not practice honest business. Somebody needs to retrain Alex and, by the look of Konstance's posting below, at least two people need to be trained on how deceptive their practice is. I incurred a tax debt working out of state. I filled something out online and Better Tax Relief started calling me pretty much all day everyday. They have called me so much at this point that I've basically ordered another phone. I've blocked them repeatedly; they just call from other #'s. I've asked to be removed from their list to no avail. This company is completely and totally a scam. They said they would resolve my tax debt and they charged my credit card $475 to solve that tax debt. They NEVER indicated during the phone conversation that there were additional fees involved. When they came back and told me what the fees were they consituted MORE than 40 % of my tax debt. They never once indicated that my bill would be that high or even close to that. Then the unbelievably harassing phone calls were made to me 5-6 times every single day. This is a bait and switch company that will not disclose all it's fees up front. And then they bully you into paying those fees with non-stop harassing phone calls.
