Better Life Nails & Spa - Day Spas Near Me - Markham, Ontario

Good bye skin, hello polysporin! I came here a year and a half ago and got a decent shellac manicure, so I decided to come back. Unfortunately today has been one of my worst mani-pedi experiences yet. First, when they were trying to add more water in the foot bath, they turned up only the hot water and burned my left foot. Then, the manicurist went too aggressive with cutting my cuticles. By the time I had the chance to tell her to go less hard, the damage was already done - my ring finger skin was bleeding. Finally, the lady who scrubbed my callouses on my foot also went a bit too hard and didn't stop when she sees the cracked skin at the bottom of my foot. Now it hurts when I walk. read more

This place isn't bad but I regret coming here. They accept walk ins which is why i chose to come but it was a irrational decision. The staff were quite nice and welcoming. They answered any questions i had promptly and they were open to listen to what i wanted. I just got a uv gel application with nail extensions which came to 50$ + tax. I don't remember who did my nails but she did a great job around my cuticles however everything else wasn't up to par. My nails were a bit bumpy and she cut it a little shorter than what I asked for, but i guess I should've let her know. I also asked for a coffin shape but it looked more like a thinner rectangle. I went home in attempts to shape it a little more myself but only made the shape worse . I appreciate the service they gave me but I will not be coming back. read more

I went here with bunch of girls. Worst experience ever! The employees were very nice, doesn't understand English as much but the owner was there giving instructions. We had asked for shellac manicure and regular pedicure. I was quite surprised that we didn't get to soak our hands in water. Equipments and devices were not being cleaned in between clients. The owner mentioned that he will give us 5$ off if we give 5 stars on google review. The location didn't deserve 5 stars especially when the shellac is already chipped and it's been only 2 days since I got it done. It's frustrating and I am not going back to this location. read more

Got a Groupon for $40 shellac Mani and pedi - it was a really good experience :) Tina is the owner and she was very thorough in her pedicure. Really tried to make my feet smooth. Her application was great - can't complain about anything! Really good service. $5 extra for French mani! read more

This is my first time getting my nails done here. I read great reviews on google so I thought I'd try it out. My appointment was for 4:00 pm. It's 5:00 pm now and I've been soaking my feet for the last 30 minutes. Clearly, these people don't understand the concept of appointments. If you want to waste your time waiting then this is the right place to be. This place doesn't even deserve a star. read more

One-star review is unfair I think. Working in customer service myself I know that a lot of the time when we have upcoming appointments we have to turn away walk-ins because we know we'll have a booked appointment coming before the walk-in is done. I had never been to this salon before, came trekking down in heavy snow etc as a walk-in. The owner was alone in the shop because she had expected a slow day; I was the first customer apparently. Hadn't had a manicure in almost a year. This place does shellac for $28 which is a pretty good price. They have a gallery of past work on their Facebook page and so I pointed to one as an example. For a bit of extra work (marbling and a dash of glitter) it cost an extra $5 and you can immediately see why -- it was very meticulous work that the manicurist did. Owner is friendly, conversational etc during manicures. It's a nice quiet environment and clean. Not much else to say. I had a good experience. read more

I really love this nail spot . Leo is literally the best for designs and he takes care or all your needs . Hands down this is the only nail salon I currently go to and they are to me the best value in Markham and are a hidden gem . read more

We made an appointment for 3 people, but when we get there, there's only two girls working. So we obviously did not get our nails done at the same one. I got no massage or cream in hands OR feet..and when I told them when they were finished..not only did they not apologize, but they argued to say.."We ALWAYS put cream." So now you're calling me an idiot for 'forgetting'? Fastest manicure predicure ever done in history, because girl took NO time to do my nails. She was on her cellphone HALF the time she was doing my nails. It's been 4 hours, and one nail has already chipped, with out any drastic bang or bump to the nail. Worst salon ever. read more

Better Life Nails & Spa - Less than 24 hours. I did my nails at 6pm last night and it is now 12:52 pm the next afternoon. - Day Spas Near Me - Markham, Ontario

This place showed up as top nail and spa in Markham with many reviews. I don't understand why? The service was good but the end result horrible. I got a normal mani and pedi. The next morning my mani started to chip. Also they forgot to use a top coat. I will not be returning to this place again. Waste of time and money read more

Not the best place out there but I would definitely return! I had an enjoyable experience. Owner was very nice and my technician, while not chatty, was also nice. I was a bit indecisive about what I wanted to do but they were very patient with me. I also had a toe nail that had been broken for a year now (and the doctor suggested removing it since it had been that long) but when they saw it, they patched it together for me ($3) and now it looks like it'll be able to grow back properly. I had to rush the drying process a bit since I had a very hungry friend waiting for me, and they were concerned about me damaging my nails since they weren't thoroughly dry yet (even though I said it was okay and it'd be my fault). They gave me paper sandals to wear in the car since I only had closed-toe heels with me, which was really thoughtful! But, if you are very particular about hygiene and don't like kids running around sometimes and eating food, I might look somewhere else. Otherwise, it's a nice casual place to get your nails done at a reasonable price. read more

Hands down, worst experience I've had at a nail salon. I got a regular manicure and all my nails were filed on a slant (very obviously), every time I asked her to fix it she filed my natural nails down shorter on an angle - leaving me with stubby nails. The nail polish was so clumpy and blotchy plus I got a matte coat on top which didn't sit right so it looked like play dough on my hands. I went back in to get it fixed and Leo was very frustrated with a lot of attitude. Overall, horrible experience and I don't recommend anyone going there. read more

This is the only nail salon I have been to that is clean and organized, and SANITARY. The staff care so much about the work they do that nothing is rushed! Leo is the most talented technician I have ever had work on my nails and he did an amazing job, you can tell he takes pride in his work. I will for sure be returning! read more

I've been here about three times and had a great experience each time. The first time I went the owner Leo actually fixed a manicure I had gotten downtown - he charged me only $5 for fixing four nails. I've been back twice for a full shellac manicure (about $35 after tax and tip) and each time has been great. It's a super well-priced salon, you definitely get what you're paying for! read more

Never going back to this nail and spa place. Horrible experience. The girl that did my nails was not fluent in English. After she filed my nails, she told me to walk to the sink to rinse my hands. I have NEVER been been to another spa where I had to literally get up to do something. I spoke to another lady (who I think is the owner) and I basically complained about it. She says yes that's what we do and I gave her suggestion where they could have a bowl of water or something instead of having a customer walk to the sink to rinse their hands which makes no sense at all. I was definitely NOT enjoying myself while getting the nails done. Another issue arise when I had to put my hands in the UV OPI machine of theirs. It wasn't working properly, The lights were basically turning on and off and the girl that was helping me kept moving my hands trying to get the machine to turn back on which was indeed ANNOYING AS HELL. After she put on the top coat, she made me put BOTH HANDS in that UV machine which is actually meant for ONE HAND. Oh one more thing, the girl only did two layers before putting on the top coat. Other spa places did three. The girls there were chatting in Mandarin probably assuming I wouldn't understand since I was only communicating in English. The girl was asking if she should do 3 layers and the other lady looked at my nails and said no it looks fine, just put the top coat on and you're done. read more

Got a Groupon deal from this spa so I decided to try it out - service wasn't great and my nails are SUPER damaged after getting my nails done here. It's been 3 weeks since I removed the gel nails and they are STILL weak and chipping. read more

Stay far away from this place! They actually don't use the proper UV lamps for gel or shellac nails which is why they ALWAYS ask customers if the lamp is burning them. The UV lamps SHOULD NOT BURN YOU!!! This place should not be supported until they take proper training and educate themselves on how not to harm customers. Also, their gel bases contain acrylates so if you're allergic, not the place for you. I had to take my gel off the next day someplace else because the improper UV lamps didn't let the gel cure properly and the acrylates caused a nasty allergic reaction. You've been warned! read more

One of the better places to go in Markham, in my opinion. Make sure you ask for Leo! He has such a great attention to detail, and is super receptive to special requests! Prices are fair, and the place is nice and clean. read more

Leo and his team are awesome. Great client service and the best nail spot I've been to, so glad I found this place. I got a pedicure from Cathy and Leo did my nails, they were super nice and very detail oriented which I love because they made sure my nails and toes looked fab. Also has a lot of unique designs to choose from as Leo is a painter and that's totally his jam. Go here, you wont be disappointed. read more

Terrible customer service, the place is empty and they say we're busy. I'm not blind!!! I can see you have one staff at least who is not busy and can take a client. Never going there again!!! read more

I come here often for shellac pedicures and I'm happy with the service and value. It's a no-frills salon but it's clean, the massage chairs are nice and the people working there are friendly. They do a good job and my shellac always lasts a very long time. They even offered me a bottle of water once when my throat was itchy and I was having a small coughing fit while having my feet done. There is man named Leo there that always shows me his newest nail designs. I haven't gotten any mani designs yet but I definitely plan to try it out when I have a special occasion to go to because the photos he's shown me look great. read more

Terrible customer service!! Cheap price, bad quality. Shellac only last for 1 week, and they told you that at lease last for 3 weeks. Can't imagine only 1 week two finger comes off. Pedicure not really good, just can say I don't feel enjoy at all. I don't want to give any stars and I definitely won't come back!! read more
