He told me the codes came back to "internal transmission failure" when it was codes for burnt transmission fluid and the overdrive solenoid/TCC. After he figured this out, he came back in and told me worse case scenario it would need a new torque converter (which doesn't make sense since it wasn't slipping) and quoted me 1500$ to replace it. He then told me it would cost 3000$ to overhaul the transmission, but it would cost me 200$ to diagnose it further. After I figured this out I was floored and decided to deal with it on my own. After one simple Google search I figured out it was TCC boost valve clip. Infact this is such a common problem with these transmissions that dodge sells an updated version of this part. I spent 40$ and two hours fixing my transmission when your shop wanted to charge me thousands. This was the first time I have taken a vehicle to a shop to have work done on it, and it was an unbelievably terrible experience. You run a shop full of thieves .

The owner tested the radiator in front of me so that we could both see if there was a problem. When I came back they remembered my name. The place makes you feel like the mechanics are friends. I recommend this place for your automotive needs.

Had a very bad experience with one of the workers here. First off this man sold a car with false…read moreadvertising to my bf. He test drove the car to make sure it it works and everything because the guy said on his Facebook ad, runs good, drives good and he told my bf it would make a drive to San Antonio. Well my bf bought it for $800 with a warranty and had it for a few days. First of all the battery died over night and he was stranded in a parking lot in El Paso. He called the mechanic saying hey my car broke down can you come fix it. The mechanic said ya he would but never showed up. My bf asked numerous times if he could help him but the mechanic kept coming up with excuses of to why he couldn't make it. Finally my bf got the car jumped and drove to the business. The mechanic put in a battery said good to go. The next day the battery died again and it wouldn't start. I told my bf just get a battery from somewhere else and he did. What do you know that battery worked. A few days later he took off to come to San Antonio to see me. The car broke down and got stuck in Neutral along i10 3 hours from San Antonio. Guess what the transmission went out and there was no way he could afford a brand new transmission. My bf tried calling towing companies but everything was closed on Saturday night. He told me and I had to drive out to go get him. My car tho couldn't tow a bigger car so he had to stay there. He stayed at my house till Monday and called towing companies and they wanted to charge over $1000 just to get the car to San Antonio. He later called the mechanic saying he can't get the car can you help us out he needs it towed. The mechanic said no that's on you you'll have to pay for it. My bf didn't expect that car that was listed in good condition to break down. We tried asking around for my friend his friends if we could pay them to get the car and bring it back to the mechanics business but no one could because that was just to far for $350 witch was all he had at the time. Also my bf did not have the permanent title on that car yet the mechanic did so it was my bfs car but he didn't have all the paper work. Mechanic said when he got the car he give him the rest of the paperwork when he got back to El Paso. So the next day we couldn't figure out anything and my bf only option was to just give up on the car and take the greyhound bus home. He did and called the mechanic and the mechanic said he'll give him $500 back instead of $800. He wanted his full money back but the mechanic was cheap. So he waited days for the money back and the day they agreed to meet came along and the mechanic came up with yet another excuse. Then I stepped in and called and said "you promised to pay back my bf and you keep coming up with excuses". I said "you promised today you pay him back, If you don't do as you said I'm reporting you as a false advertising cheap ass sales man and writing a bad review". My bf and I were both done with this man. So after talking to me he gave my bf $300 said the bank was closed. We waited till the next day for the $200 and guess what he gave my bf $195. It don't matter it was $5 less then he said but he's been such a pain with us we were both mad but decided we're not talking to him anymore. This was this morning that happened. This company sales cars without giving accurate information. DO NOT BUT CRAP FROM THEM. Any other mechanics shop would of been more helpful.

We had only one weekday in El Paso before I had to drive to Albuquerque for my next event. We called University Auto Center first thing, Majec listened patiently and instantly said to bring the car in. When we arrived, we saw many other cars, yet Majec ran a smooth operation: relaxed, smiling workers worked at an expert, steady pace. He welcomed us warmly, expressed genuine concern for our welfare and tight schedule, and said he'd look at the car right away. He got back to us faster than expected. The problem was the compressor, and he couldn't get the part till next day. So, since I had that Albuquerque event, we figured we had to keep going sans air conditioning. Without any pressure, Majec clarified that the compressor could give out any time, stranding us on a highway in temps over 100. So, he helped us brainstorm a solution: my husband waited in El Paso for our car, I drove a rental ahead to my event, and Majec stayed on top of it all so my husband could catch up ASAP. Majec communicated well throughout, his team moved fast, and he charged much less than if we'd waited to do the work elsewhere. He also insisted we call from Denver to tell him how everything went. Three months later, it all still works great. Majec saved us from potential disaster, both in terms of safety & maybe missing my event. We recommend University Auto Center to anyone who wants professional, honest, caring service at a great price.

The gym had my number on file and assured me my kids were being watched over by instructors and I made my way to the car. I usually go to Costco for my oil change but since there's only one in El Paso, the wait is usually horrendous. I saw that the gym faced a autobody shop (Coronado Autobody) and I walked there and asked the mechanics if they had time for an oil change. They explained I had to go around to the front office and ask the receptionist, so I did. Wow, what I witnessed was CARE: Liz the receptionist asked and remembered every single client that walked in and what state of repair or disrepair their car was in. I felt like I was in good hands and then I spied a BEST OF YELP 2008 certificate on their wall, and my decision was validated. I went up and asked about the oil change not sure if they would take me 20 mins before closing. She was going to ask, but the nice mechanic came in and told her they would take me. Their prices were fair $40 for a standard oil change and $60 for full synthetic. They got me in and out of there in 20 mins. and it wasn't bells and whistles but seeing repeat clients and how much they trusted them made me feel sure they took care of my car as well.
