It's an awesome place! It's too bad you have to go so far when you live in Albany. There's a Y in Albany, the one in Albany should have all the same amenities ESPECIALLY since it's around the hospital, I'm sure you would get a lot more members because of the hot tub, pool, sauna etc... people who have health problems could get more use out of it, and they wouldn't have to go so far. read more

This gym is perfect for families! The community and staff are incredibly friendly and supportive. The classes offered are numerous for all age groups and highly engaging and challenging! It is a clean facility with wonderful people and tons of opportunities to work on your health, fitness, and general well being while supporting any stage of life that you're in! Just went once as a visitor, but have to say that this Y has spoiled me for my local Y (and just about any other spa/fitness club I can think of...!!) BEAUTIFUL, clean, well lit, nicely arranged facility with plenty of machines, weights, great track, two awesome pools, AND a skating rink!! From what I saw, there were plenty of programs/classes/activities for all ages, which along with reasonable rates for individuals and families, can't see any reason why anyone in the area would go anywhere else! Now if only my soooooo sad by comparison Y here at home would at least clean up a bit, fix the permanently broken machines and jammed lockers, I wouldn't be coveting my brother's local Y (about 12 hrs. away... !!) Bethlehem YMCA - Gyms Near Me - Delmar, New York

I'm not the type of person who would usually review a Y. I mean. It's a Y. It's fine. However, there are two items that make this particular Y stand out hard for me. First, they have one insanely warm pool to help your kiddo (maybe yourself) learn to swim. Free swim hours are essentially constant. This particular spot gave us such a reprieve from cold, winter, weekend days, it basically became our own personal oasis. The other item that this Y has isn't an item at all, but a human. Coach Eric is amazing. He teaches children to play ball sports in such a fun and enthusiastic way it makes me think he's training to be kindergarten teacher of the year. I can attribute my child's enthusiasm towards soccer purely to him. It's to the point that the minute my 4 year old daughter returns home from her class with Coach E, shes out running and practicing her skills in the backyard. I'm so happy this particular Y exists. I wish every Y was like it and that Coach Eric could be duplicated a million times over. read more

this place has really gone down hill. New weight machines already have tears. staff turns a blind eye to little kids running around upstairs during peak times and all the junk people leave on floor. people hog machines and weight benches during busy times. staff clueless and indifferent at best, rude and cliquey most of the time. Front desk team on Sunday completely ignored me while chatting with their friends and would put the barcode scanner on counter. people bang weights and ymca trainers hog machines with their clients. the staff with talk and talk for 10 minutes whiles others wait to use the weight machines. something has changed there in the past 12-18 months and not for the better. I was a member for 12 years. It used to be great. Now, not worth the trouble, too crowded and people are rude. ...and not clean- ever look on top self of the inside of lockers, or on the sides of the windows near track? eww its really gross. moving on... read more

I gotta say, I love this facility. I have been a member for a couple of years and I have always been a fan. Recently they closed for one week and reopened with all new state of the art equipment . It was like a caterpillar that I already found interesting emerged as a beautiful, even more Majestic butterfly. Weather you're looking to drop a few pounds, or get totally jacked. This place has it all, everything you need. The only negative, and this is on the patrons not the facility. I'm there to train, it looks like it's mouth day for far to many of you. And do not sit on a machine or bench you're using with 10 minutes between sets. My goal is to train hard for one hour and get out. I can't do that if your there taking up space. I love the facility and the equipment, the non-lifting mouth breathers I could do without. read more

I give the YMCA 4 stars simply because it's Mind-body program has some great teachers and the cost is so reasonable. Suzy Arenos (Kripalu) and Steve Adams (Vinyasa) are two talented evening yoga offerings at Bethlehem Y. I love Pat Hunter's Nia afternoon dance class in Guilderland. I can't make that anymore, but if you can, don't miss it. Kate Winning's Yin Yoga in Duanesburg was fantastic, and she still does teach mornings there. Rebecca Vargo's (Vinyasa) In Schenectady is a favorite. My family takes evening classes. You have to drive around & even then the schedule is scant (not true for afternoon classes), but it's well worth the effort. read more

so i got a membership here once so i could swim and shit, then i realized im soooo bad at swimming. i had all these plans to swim laps and be like that bong guy or whatever. i even bought goggles. smh. whatever. didnt work out. so then i thought maybe i could shoot some hoops. turns out im even worse at that shit. the only basket ill be getting has some sort of fried food in it. the one thing i thought that i was halfway decent at was sulking in the sauna and smelling like a bottle of liquor and a half eaten beef burrito. thank god the sweat covered up all my tears. read more

I was incredibly happy with my services at this center until recently. I paid for a trainer package and was set up with Mike, who had me on a program that was working for me. We were advancing monthly on new exercise routines and diet changes and I was feeling great. He is abruptly gone, I have received no call on being set up with a new trainer. When I have gone to work out recently on my own the staff is noted to just stand at the center station with little engagement with the clients, its just such a disappointing change and a terrible loss to the Bethlehem YMCA. When Mike was there he was noted to always be engaging with the clients, checking in with them to see if things were going well, he was doing walk arounds to check the equipment, taking time to show how to use the new programs like sprint 8. It seemed as if he had set higher standards for the environment and services provided. read more

Excellent place. Classes are too full (Yoga especially) and they could have more classes but far and away the best place to work out in Bethlehem. I can alwaays find a machine and the front desk staff is very sweet to my kids. The guys upstairs could be more helpful though. I've been going here since they ipened and not once has one of the trainers offered a suggestion or helped me with a machine. I guess I could ask but wouldnt it be nice if they were a little more engaging? Having said that I like it. Expensive. read more

What a gem to the community, it brings families and friends together in a friendly safe atmosphere. All the amenities under one roof, swimming, indoor track, courts, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, skating, day care. I visited multiple gym before choosing to join, by far this is the best. The staff is friendly, well educated providing an atmosphere and environment to promote safety and success. I utilize a trainer, Mike, and not only get an incredible workout but have learned proper body mechanics, safe equipment use (which the equipment can be intimidating) and he developed a routine appropriate for my age, and ability yet still challenges me building confidence in myself. The facility is clean and well organized, the equipment well maintained. I have never had difficulty getting a turn on any of the equipment (fellow gym members are very courteous), and the daycare staff do a great job of respectfully caring for and keeping the kids well behaved ( I do not have young children, but was pleasantly surprised when I observed this). So if this is the environment you are looking for I highly recommend, but if not then an adult environment private gym or home gym may be a better option. As a Registered Nurse I have high expectations, and the Bethlehem YMCA has exceeded them. read more
