I've been going to Bethlehem Eye Associates for several years now, and the staff are always personable and professional. I have MS and see Dr. Kitei, who is a neuro-ophthalmologist. I have never been disappointed with with his medicare care. 1 star for the rude and dismissive staff working on January 6, 2025 at 2:00pm. My mother is a retiree who has not been to the eye doctor for years since she lost her company insurance. She called BEA to see what the fee would be to pay out-of-pocket and was told $200 covers the exam and glasses. After her exam, she went to look at glasses and was then told that glasses are not included. When she explained what she was told when she made the appointment, the staff person simply said, "No one here told you that," and looked away as if to say, "and this conversation is over." Yes, someone DID tell her that or she would not have chosen BEA and your disrespectful and dismissive attitude is why she won't be back. It would have taken 10 seconds to say, "I understand what you are saying and perhaps this was not clearly explained that the $200 fee only covers the exam and provides a prescription for you to buy glasses." See how that treats patients with dignity? But you obviously can't be bothered to do that. Too bad because the doctors were thorough and pleasant. I have been a patient of Dr. Kitei since I was a teen and finally just had to leave this practice. This office staff are just horrible. Completely incompetent, disorganized and flat out rude. My husband has been a patient at this practice for years. Yesterday we had the most horrible experience ever. The staff has gone downhill since the Prism Group buyout. Rude dismissive people. I had to call about an Rx being sent to the wrong place after I told them TWICE at the appointment where it needed to be sent. When I got a call back they said they would fix it. Got a text message this morning that they sent it to the wrong place AGAIN. I think that it is time to part ways with this practice. read more

I've been going to BEA for many years. I have the use of one eye due to a severe eye injury. They've been charging me full price for two lenses when I clearly only need one with a prescription. I left there and went to Lehigh Valley Eye Care and my ophthalmologist clearly told that it was ridiculous and that they were clearly overcharging me. I'm not sure what to do about this. I went there for a yearly diabetic eye exam, which according to my insurance, has no copay. I told them this when I made the appointment and when I arrived. They told me that since I came there last year for a problem in my left eye, they are considering this a follow up exam. After disputing this with them, they said they would fix it. Sure enough, they billed it as a follow up and I was responsible for the copay. It wasn't worth fighting about, so I just paid the bill. I will not be using them again. read more

I went to BEA on Monday to receive service from the on-site Optometrist's office. I have purchased several eye glasses and prescription sun glasses from them over the last 3 years. The service has always been good. The screw fell out of my sun glasses and I dropped by to have it put back in. The usual person was not there - it was a new person. She was on the phone and used the F word while talking to a customer. She had her back to me and I wanted a long time (after she hung up the phone) and said hello. She turned stared at me and "yea." She then came over to the desk and said she could do nothing with the glasses they were broken. I then insisted they were not broken and showed her that is was just a screw. She then demanded to know when I had bought them and said it must have been a long time ago. I stated it was last summer. And then I told her how expensive they were and she said "Who the F*** pays $$$ for sun glasses?" I said, "What did you say." She claimed she said nothing. She grabbed the glasses went in the back and a long time later came out - she did fixed them. What a nightmare. read more

The most indifferent staff I have ever come across. Granted I am a health professional so I know the difference between good patient care versus the "get 'em in" and get ''em out" type of approach. It was actually embarrassing to see the lack of warmth and professionalism extended to patients. It has the feel of a practice driven by over booking with no time to treat patients with warmth. Several physicians are completely oblivious to their indifferent and callous presentation. Not impressed and really sad. There are many older patients seeking care here and I hope this is not the reason the place is so indifferent. Please wipe down the equipment after each patient places their chin and forehead upon the vision machines. read more

I had high hopes for using this practice. It took me over 2.5 months to even get an appointment. I filled in the paperwork at home, got their 15 minutes before my 11:20 appt. was given another stack of papers to sign which wee essentially the same forms on different paper. I told her but no I had to do it. The waiting room was packed with people, around 20 all sitting right on top of one another. In this era of covid, not good. I waited until 12 and told them 40 minutes was way too much to wait. From what I could tell it looked as if they just overbooked and don't care. It is about the $$$. On way out spoke to 2 other patients that were getting ready to leave as well. They have I think 3-5 doctors, no need to overbook like this. Told receptionist I could not take the commotion of the office and the lack of spacing. I am driving to my doctor in NJ, may take me an hour each way but not treated like cattle. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Rosati at Bethlehem Eye Associates for four years now. I originally came here to see on of the senior doctors, Dr. Kitei, but he was horrible backed up, so I agreed to see Dr. Rosati instead. I'm glad that I did. Dr. Rosati is friendly & can carry a good conversation (always important with the eye doctor). The office is conveniently located on the north side of Bethlehem, not too far from the LV Muhlenberg campus. Plenty of free parking and a large enough lobby to keep in the crowds (with four or five doctors plus an optician on staff, they see a lot of patients). I've always been able to get an appointment within a week or two of when I've called...very convenient for those of us who always forget that it's that time of year again. The only thing that I dislike is the price - the $100 self pay price seems high to me, but for a once a year visit, it's not been worth it for me to shop around and find another doctor. I like Dr. Rosati so I'm not too motivated to shop around. But I'm sure there is something in between the 50-60 dollar exams from Eyeland or Pearle Vision and Bethlehem Eye Associates. read more

I was recently was diagnosed with an eye problem with my cornea and after making the first appointment for a consultation within 2 minutes someone from the billing office called to say that the plan has a deductible and I would be responsible for making the full payment of $250 that day. I did know his plan has a $5000 deductible but his only out of pocket is $250 and then my employer has an account called an HRA account for employees that when they go to a provider the account will automatically use the remaining 4750.00 in the HRA account to directly pay the provider. There is no card for the employee unlike an FSA or HSA account. So no problem I thought I have a credit card I can use my CareCredit card , which is only used for medical, Rx and vet bills. When I tried to pay with that card hey told me, No they do not accept that card, only if you are getting Lasix surgery can you use that card, they will not accept it as a form of payment for an office visit. Now ....I had made a second appointment and within minutes of making the appointment the billing office called once again to say you have a remaining deductible on the plan and you will need to pay $86.00 for this appointment. I reminded them that I have met the $250 deductible I was responsible for and that I have an HRA (Health Reimbursment Account) from my employer that pays the providers directly and Heather from his office said well that's not the information we are getting from insurance and you will need to pay. I explained the insurance company advised not to pay that they would be paying and she said I don't care what they say we can do whatever we want to. I then asked her why again I cannot pay with my carecredit card and she says we don't accept that card, I then said it states you accept it for Lasix surgery and she said yes we can pick and choose what we want to accept the card for. so... now I called the insurance company who advised that this is not how it is to be handled and that they will personally call and tell them and send any type of information they need on this. I was referred to this practice for a diagnosis of my eyes. I had woken up one day & had double-vision & numbness in my arm. I was admitted to the hospital to check for neurological issues, then referred to an ophthalmologist for a diagnosis. That's when Bethlehem Eye Associates come in. I was scheduled very quickly to see a doctor for a work up. I spent 3 hours being tested thoroughly, so I thought I was in good hands. I did have a wonderful assistant and the doctor I had that day was kind, too, so I was happy for a short time. But when I returned 3 days later I wasn't as happy. The doctor (Dr. Kitei) was nice, but treated me like a little kid, as the majority of his patients are children. I walked out of there with a lousy explanation of what the problem was. He never gave me "strabismus " as my diagnosis. I was referred to Penn Medicine for a second opinion with a neuro ophthalmologist, who suggested strabismus surgery. I was stuck to return to Bethlehem Eye Associates, as Dr. Kitei is currently the only strabismus specialist in our area. At that time we scheduled surgery. At the end of my visit with the doctor, he explained I'd need a physical. No problem. I joked how my primary physician may make me do a colonoscopy first, but I'm not ready yet, as I am dealing with my eyes which at this time is more important. He then went on to seriously SCOLD me about having the colonoscopy. He pointed a chart 3 inches from my face & loudly told me to GET IT DONE. It took me a minute to digest his rudeness. Needless to say, I canceled my surgery with him (for more than this one reason), waited an additional 1 1/2 months to see a doctor in Philadelphia. I'm thankful I did! I had my successful surgery & I was treated with respect and compassion from everyone involved. Even the surgery technique was different. My eye was adjusted after the surgery, described as stitches on a pulley system to move your eye to the perfect position/degree. When I asked Dr. Kitei prior about that technique, he said it was a "gimmick "! Well, that "gimmick" gave me perfect eye alignment after my surgery in Philly. Mind you, the doctor who did my surgery is one of the top doctors in the country, so it's not a gimmick. I can go on & on but just save yourself the hassle & go elsewhere. read more

Would have given them no stars except the Dr and the 2 nurses were good. This is a case where the office administrators are just rude. First they call before your appointment to tell you that you have to bring your deductible. Okay, no problem right? Then you get there and they want the deductible, okay so I pay. Then the nurse and Dr sees you. All good right? Well then you go to checkout and they charge you again. Why I don't know but was only a few dollars so I did not complain. The next visit the same thing. Collect on the way in and collect on the way out. So I complained and got the deer in the headlights look. The checkout person asked what they could do and I said speak to you manager and tell them this is poor customer service. Now the straw! The Dr told me to cancel the next appointment if my eye was better. It was so I did on Monday for a Wednesday appointment. Then I get a letter from Bethlehem Eye Associates stating I missed the appointment and if I do it again it will be $50. Just $$$$$ is their concern. Too many eyedoctors in the Valley to suffer this type of treatment. Go elsewhere! read more

Brought my mom in as a new patient. The place was very clean and the doctor was so nice. Our Overall experience was great. A family friend recommended us and she's been a patient for years, so they came highly recommended. But there was an incident that I've debated calling the office and telling them about and it's just been eating at me. So I figured I would just write a review. Although the entire experience like I said was wonderful, there was a period where we were moved into a area while my mom was dilating. While we were waiting one of the nurses came by and started literally "screaming" at another nurse right in front of us Like we weren't even there. It actually scared my mom. The nurse she was yelling at looked embarrassed and mortified. I really think this girl went and cried somewhere. The nurse that was yelling didn't even apologize to us for the scene that was unfolding in front of us. All I know is the nurses name was "Ange" (didn't get a last name). I'm not going lie I was actually giving her a dirty look after the way she just acted, and she just looked back at me and gave a dirty look back! I couldn't believe it! I assumed she was probably some kind of manager to be so bold to do something like that. The scene that unfolded just did not fit the atmosphere in which we were in. It was shocking. So if you go there just make sure that the nurses name isn't "Ange" LOL. Besides that it was good. read more

Dr. Grosso is the reason for the 1-star rating. Everyone else would get a 5 (especially Dr. Weber). I've seen Grosso twice, and each time I leave in more pain than when I arrived. He's callous, abrasive, and frankly, I think he's a pain junkie. Never in my life have I had a contact lens aggressively removed with a pair of tweezers. When you're dealing with people's eyes, compassion and care is a must. This guy has neither. read more

The wait is incredibly long and you are only treated for five minutes. The office staff is extremely nasty.They clearly should not be dealing with the public and are highly unprofessional. My father, who recently suffered a stroke and is now handicapped and in a wheel chair had a horrible experience here. They raised there voice to him and ask rudely why he was here. His wife said he's here for his appointment. When he was finally seen by Dr. Grasso his wheel chair was pushed harshly out of the way and my fathers health aid politely said please I'll move his chair just tell me where. This office was rude and insensitive to elderly and handicap people. Please don't support this office. They don't deserve your business. read more

I was horribly disappointed with my son's appt. with Dr. Weber. My son has an intellectual disability and it was recommended by our family Dr. that we go there because of my son's frequent severe headaches that started about 6 wks. ago. When I told the Dr. that my son has sensory issues and cannot wear sunglasses, he very RUDELY commented on my son's hair and snake bites ( 2 small piercings near his lip). I believe if a Dr. can't leave his predjudices at home, he shouldn't be a Dr. My son acted appropriately and surely, we didn't go there to hear this idiots thoughts about hair and piercings!!!!!! Today I was sitting in the Bethlehem Eye Associates office waiting for my friend to see her doctor. When this elderly frail woman in a wheel chair was wheeled in and checked in at the counter. She was told that services could not be given today because she had a $76.00 balance and her copay hadn't been met. She was also told that her that the office tried to call her daughter and her daughter did not ans the phone. The elderly lady tried to figure out why she would come all this way, obviously in a wheel chair van that transported her and not be seen. The woman at the desk didn't offer any help, such as let's call your daughter now...nothing, just repeated that she'd need to reschedule. The worst thing I saw was the humility on this woman's face that the 10-22 people in the waiting room knew her business...that the enormous undertaking to get there, wasn't even considered. But the insensitivity of these staff behind an opened window to expose this woman was anything but sensitive . They should have said immediately, can you come in our office to see mr/Mrs X ... and secondly...to not see a patient bc of a small balance and Co pay not being met! Shame on this office, the staff. The doctors that condone such...and the office should have know at the time of making appt regarding ins issues. INSENSITIVE..YES...my question: what if you were in that wheelchair, and had Noone to advocate for u? Would you want the world to know your business...what about HEPA, privacy rights? Bethlehem Eye Associates is the absolute worst. I was referred to them when I had eye pain and floaters. I had multiple visits and numerous tests. Dr. Weber made fun of me and said he's had floaters since elementary school. I also saw Dr. Kitei who told me it must be imaginary pain due to stress, which I do not have. After all of this run around and bills for hundreds of dollars they did nothing for me. My eye was bothering me so badly that I finally did my own investigating with a flash light and plenty if contact solution and found an old nasty hair in my eye!! These doctors could not see that there was a hair in my eye. Outrageous. Do not trust them as they do not are about you, only their $250 for a ten minute consultation. read more

when i had my apt with this office the doc rushed into the office and his first words to me were...."lets get you outa here" he came in with a whoosh...that all his papers on his bulletin board floated up and flapped...fast..very fast... .he conducted his exam and gave me a dx and said he he needed to see me in 6 months..he gave me no explanation about the dx or what to expect or anything just see you in 6 months..my nex apt they kept me waiting in a packed--and i do mean packed waiting room for 20 minutes.when i complained to the office manager no only did she not care when i said i wasn't going to pay she threanted to send me to collections...so i went to another eye doc at a different office who after examing me said...'oh yea the dx is correct but...don't worry about it..this is nothing to worry about...and explained it tome and said..i'll see you in a year...so bethlehem eye assocaites in my opinion over over books takes all yur time doesn't care how long they keep you waiting until your'e in the examing room and then you get the feeling you getting the bums rush..and on top of it..books you again needlessly in 6 months..!!. because they double double over book...i will never go here again...i know when i go to my family doc..the waiting room is empty except for two or 3 people why?/ beause they don't double double book.....!! its about time consumers spoke out against doc offices like these...next time im in a docs office and so packed you can't find a place to sit----------im leaving...--to me that's a signal --they just want your money!! read more
