I have never been disappointed with with his medicare care. Dr. Kitei always puts forth a positive, encouraging attitude and I would be remiss if I didn't mention that he has a good sense of humor, and that's definitely a plus. .

Before the procedure, Bethlehem Eye Associates told me my insurance had approved it and that my out-of-pocket cost would be a little over $800, which I paid immediately. More than a year later, I received a call from their office saying I suddenly owed an additional $2,000. My account had shown a $0 balance the entire time, so this came as a complete surprise. When I contacted my insurance company, I was told that Bethlehem Eye Associates had not submitted the required documentation to support the medical necessity of the procedure. According to my insurer, they were given a second opportunity to submit the necessary test results, but the required documentation still was not provided. I even informed the office what documentation the insurance company said was needed. This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Instead of standing behind the approval they told me they had obtained, I was left with a significant unexpected bill more than a year after my surgery. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Bethlehem Eye Associates.

A neurologist diagnosed a concussion, and said the bloody eye was also a result of hitting my head. I scheduled an exam with Dr. McDonald. During my visit she said my bloody eye was "probably" a result of the trauma to my head. I was happy with the exam itself, and she gave me a stronger prescription than I had been using. When I filed a claim with the insurance company of the driver who hit me, Dr. McDonald denied that my bleeding eye had anything to do with the accident, contradicting what she told me during my office visit. I was very disappointed, and will not return to her practice.

Several years ago, Dr. McDonald saw my daughter at age 10. Several years before, we had been told…read moreby Dr. Gaylord Ojers that she had no peripheral vision. He peremptorily insisted on skull X-rays which found nothing. We were sure that her peripheral vision was fine which was found to be the case after a visit to a well known Eye Hospital in Philadelphia where they had much more advanced instruments. In fact, ophthalmologists at this hospital said, "Do NOT go to any Bethlehem Ophthalmologists!" Despite that warning, when our daughter began to complain of headaches and difficulty seeing the board in class, I tried to make an appointment with a Dr. Gentile, whom we had seen, but instead were shunted to Dr. Marilyn McDonald. Our daughter was tested NOT by the Dr., but by office staff. Afterward, Dr.McDonald called to tell me that our daughter had no peripheral vision. I explained the above, but she insisted the child must return to her office for further testing. When she went back, OFFICE STAFF again did the same tests all over again and to add insult to injury, we were charged for this a second time. The results were the same...no peripheral vision. We made a second trip to Philadelphia to the Eye Hospital where testing revealed that her peripheral vision was stellar. I met with a group of ophthalmologists at the hospital. I was again reminded by them of their initial admonition..."We thought we told you NOT to go to any Bethlehem ophthalmologists." Perhaps Dr. McDonald has invested in some more advanced instruments, but I could not recommend her based on the above.
