I got the taro milk and boba, as well as an octopus poke bowl. To begin with, the taro milk tea was terrible and tasted very synthetic/perfume like. I have had quite my fair share of taro milk tea, and this was by far the worst. Secondly, the octopus poke bowl also left me in dismay. Not only did it boast plain flavors and simply chopped veggies, it also had insufficient octopus for the price paid. Collectively, the bowl probably only had 1.5 - 2 oz. of octopus. After hearing there is a new tea and ramen shop opened, I've been dying to try it out. I personally love ramen and will try every store if possible. This one is a big disappointment, ramen didn't taste good and got a stomach afterward hence the 1 star. The tea was just okay, the foam cap taste a lil fishy for some reason, they probably put it with their poke bowl stuff. I still prefer kungfu tea tho. Will try to give this place another shot after I get over with this initial experience and hope they will improve by then. read more

To start off I really wanted to like this place and support local businesses but was very disappointing with my visit. I went to this restaurant for their grand-opening BOGO boba tea deal but wasn't very impressed. The place itself is located in a pretty good location and had an overall nice aesthetic and was clean/well-kept. My issue is the quality of the teas and the customer service. The cashier didn't seem to know what he was doing and the manager had to come over several times to teach him how to use the computer and correct orders. My sister and I only ordered one tea each yet our wait time was approaching 45 minutes. I clearly saw people who came in after us receive their teas before we did. There wasn't even a line or that many people in the restaurant so no obvious explanation for the wait. I'm not sure if it's their policy to serve dine-in customers first but that's what it looked like so be prepared if you're ordering anything to-go. When I actually got my tea it tasted very watery and bland. The bobas were kinda gummy as if they were sitting out for a long time. My sister ordered hers with no ice yet they still put in ice. At that point we decided to just leave as we didn't want to wait any longer to see if they could fix our order. I can't speak for how the food is but just based off customer service alone I think I'll stick with TeaStori from now on if I'm getting Boba teas. Vegan and vegetarian options are available with the food as well, I ordered the homemade teriyaki tofu bowl for takeout and it was great ! The boba tea i got was super good

The shop has pretty good tea. I got a basic jasmine green tea with regular bubbles. I appreciate that they give the option of buying something other than milk tea. Kung Fu tea has similar prices and has a better location yet Tea Bestea offers quality tea with good proportions rather than the sugary ice soup that KFT offers. This place is definitely my new tea spot. There are some areas that need work though, They're always running out of items. I came in and tried to get some Matcha bubbles however they did not have any left. I've come to notice that this has become a common trend because they have limited quantities of every item they make. I feel that this is the result of poor planning. If they simply increase the amount of the items they made when making them I feel that they would be more accustomed to many customers. Critiquing the food, I have found the boba be a pleasant experience however I do not understand why some of the Tapioca was still completely dry in the center; it was honestly quite disgusting as it left a gritty sensation in my mouth. The tea was very good as it was the right balance of tea and sugar without overloading any sensations. It's great to see more contemporary restaurants in Gainesville opening, however sometimes I feel like they just simply look like a copy of every other restaurant near it. The lighting and the decor are reminiscent of 8°, the restaurant for ice cream near Sam's club and to be frank I'm not really a fan. it's like a crossover between a hipster and a high school gym. well I understand that many people think it's a Instagram friendly and very good lighting for the great food pictures I still don't think it's the most appropriate place for a good chat or date. It's like if I took my date to an Apple store for Ramen. Another thing is the staff. I think that the staff need age variety. While it's nice to have college students giving me my tea I think it would be nice if there was a larger range of people because it just shows how an owner embraces diversity and really works well in today's society. Out of the other boba places in Gainesville, Tea Bestea ranks average, borderline slightly below. Not great, but it's not bad. Love the layout of the place, very spacious and good seating. I study at the tables but I love sitting at the couch if I'm just meeting a friend to chat with. I've tried the oolong milk tea and matcha latte. I thought the matcha was a little watered down. Oolong milk tea was like any other oolong milk tea, nothing too special and not watered down. I don't particularly enjoy their boba pearls. While the intention of having them homemade is nice and all, I'm not sure if they've worked through the recipe enough. My boba always gets so clumped up and difficult to suck up the straw that I've stopped getting the boba pearls. Some people have told me that when they ask for regular honey boba, they've run out and had to get matcha boba so that's something to look out for. I've also tried their honey glazed wings which I have to admit are delicious! They had a deal going on that was 6 wings with a medium milk tea for $7.99, it might be limited time. The workers are nice but I get confused at the way they explain their menu whenever I have questions, not sure if they have a grasp on their own menu. Overall, I do like to come back here every once in a while when I want to change up my study space and sip on some oolong milk tea. read more

I came to the store on their grand opening when they had BOGO, it was very hectic. There was a lot of people waiting on their drinks. I came back few days later, there was still quite a few people studying at the restaurant. The store definitely has cute designs, more modern and Instagram worthy looks. My friend and I both tried their ramen, poke bowl and boba drinks. I really like they use all fresh ingredients. I stood there and saw how they make my drink where they measured fresh strawberry into the cup to make my strawberry latte. Their poke bowl has good amount of portions using all fresh ingredients as well. Love the poke wasabi mayo, and sesame dressing. The place is really pretty and well-lit, so it's perfect for getting that snapchat or Instagram shot. The staff were super friendly and took the time to explain everything on the menu to us. The service is better than the food quality. I ordered a poke bowl with a bubble tea. The serving staff was very hospitable and deserved a solid 5 star. However, the food was not super fresh and the bubble tea was meh, so I gave 3 star for the food itself. The decor is very nice with an open layout. The checkout area is a bit cramped and lines can get very backed up. The menus are located at the front counter next to the cashiers which made them a bit hard to find when I first came in. The classic black milk tea tasted great but the boba was lackluster. I found the boba pearls to be on the bland side. I would rate the ramen as 6/10. The portion was adequate but I found the utensils to be unhygienic.
