My husband woke me up Thursday morning and said hey let's jump on the Harley and go on a road trip for 10th anniversary. Absolutely I am game. we left the Detroit area and came to Coldwater Michigan. We always stay at Best Western because it's always so fresh and clean and they always have an above decent if not exceptional breakfast. It's Best Western So the pool says heated it is not!!!! It's cold, the Jacuzzi somebody needs to work on the Jets because they're not working correctly. I let the management know how clean our room was when we first arrived because it was very clean, even though outdated. We slept like crap on the springs that were popping up in the bed. The pillows were awful and all night long..... it sounded like someone was wiggling our door knob, trying to get in our room so needless to say I had maybe three hours of sleep. And to top it off, we both had to turn opposite directions and sleep in both of the queen beds because all you could smell in between the beds was adult urine saturated in the carpet We had decided that we were going to go down to the front desk and cancel Saturday night. Since we had already paid, it was not an option and we were like 10 minutes after 11 AM check out so it was our fault, I take full responsibility and we did not argue. And the breakfast they offered was above and beyond just nasty. They actually had tangerines that were so dry you wanted to just make a pair of shoes with them. I think my biggest irritating factor is the pool is cold and the sauna hot/ hot tub whatever doesn't work... but if you compare this to any other Best Western, check it out before you stay!!!! I I personally feel that Best Western with the prestige they have and having their name on this building is a very big mistake. And it's funny they were advertising online rooms for the night that were $44 cheaper than what we actually paid with all the discounts we got for being Best Western members. I do not recommend this location because you're not going to sleep well the urine is major on top of just I feel dirty. read more

We had a family emergency and they would not issue our 2nd night refund or pet fee. Front desk staff said the could and then "supervisor" said no and had mysteriously disappeared from the premises. The hotel stunk of marijuana in the halls. Breakfast was warm but horrible quality. Do not recommend. If I could give a zero, I would. read more

well I had to cancel my reservation at this place more than 48 hours before and I even took out trip insurance on Hotels.com and the Manager Refused to cancel my reservatio. I found out almost 3 days before I had COVID and I'm going through cancer treatments so my immune system is shot. Wheni worked on submitting my paperwork for my insurance on this reservation they expected me to go to a hospital and have doctors fill out documents. I was home in bed VERY ILL and first of all had no one to take me anywhere and I was Very Ill in bed and going anywhere it was out of the question. I'd never Recommend this place ! read more

After a long drive we were looking for a nice, clean and quiet place to stay. We pulled off 69 exit 13 and found the best western. This hotel was clean and staff are very friendly. We found no issues and were pleased with our room and the price. The breakfast provided is bountiful and everything is fresh. read more

I spent 45 minutes on the phone with their "customer service " thought I had a reservation just to find out I don't . they don't actually honor their policy. Please save your self the headache. We were misled as to how close this property was to our intended travel route. When we discovered the error, no cancelation. Beds were extremely old and in no way the quality you expect from Best Western. Room smelled musty. Difficult to find because signage is not readily visual. The ONLY BW I have come across that charges a "Security" deposit. Basically what is happening is they get to use your money from 3 to 5 days while they float your money! The good.. bed, sheets were very clean. Towels were nice and clean. The bad.. hall was tired and needs updates and cleaning. Room tired and dusty. Along rug trim, it is dusty. The ugly.. the room was on ground floor. Window didn't have a working lock. Someone from outside could open screen and window easily. Side entrance had security signs of being locked but never needed key pass to get in. Always open. Front desk employees night and morning hard to find. The Best Western Plus Coldwater was everything we needed it to be - a nice place to stop and recharge on our drive home from Toronto. Check in was easy. The staff was friendly. The hotel looks like it has been updated in the not too distant past. The lobby was clean and inviting. The room was also clean. I can be pretty picky about hotel rooms, but I had no qualms about staying in our room. The hotel was a little noisy. We could hear a lot of footsteps and creaking as the guests in the room above us moved around. It wasn't horrible, but enough to slowly wake us up a little earlier than we would have liked. The breakfast was solid. They had enough for everyone and even my vegan girlfriend was able to find enough to eat. The staff worked hard to make sure there was enough food (it was fairly busy). This is a good place to stop for the night (or longer). It is right off of the highway. There are several restaurants and fast food joints nearby. The pool was nice (sadly - the heater on the hot tub was broken). Recommended. read more

I have stayed here on multiple occasions, most recently for a week while I was in town for a funeral. The staff was amazing, the room was cleaned daily (even after we left the room after they were finished with our floor). The breakfast was decent - above par for a hotel. I was a bit disappointed that the pool was closed most of the time I was there. That being said, the hotel was within walking distance of food and everything else I could need. They also had a decent selection of items to purchase up front. The beds were super cozy, and I never had a single issue with the room. This is one of my favorite hotels to stay in. read more

It did what it needed to do-provide a comfortable place to sleep, get ready, and nourished us for a cheap price, However, the hotel was tired. The couch in the lobby was stained and looked gross. The stairwell and hallway carpet was filthy! We stayed 4 nights for my daughter's wedding and they were not vacuumed our whole stay. I do not even remember how many times we had to go get our room key reprogrammed, but it was approximately every other time we used. The last time the front desk clerk had one waiting for us we went down. One of our friends attending the wedding found a large blood stain in the white comforter. They went to a different hotel. It was loud-the floor creaked so loud when the people above us walked around that it woke me up. And the hot tub had so much foam when the jets were turned on that it looked like a bubble bath (foam in a hot tub = DIRTY!) and the foam had a brown hue to it. If stuff like that doesn't bother you you will be fine. I would have gladly paid more to stay at a nicer place. Live and learn... read more

Nice clean room. Was overall a good stay. The hallways of course with any hotel in Michigan reeked of marijuana. You'd also think that with the bad reviews about breakfast not being served on time and or not served at all they would fix it , but this hotel continues to ignore those complaints and we were informed this morning that breakfast closed early but tomorrow it would actually stay open to the correct time. This was an average stay...not really sure what was "plus" about it. Pros: Decent breakfast Staff was friendly Okay place to rest for the night Sheets were clean Bathroom was clean Cons: Despite having no smoking signs everywhere, the place reeked of smoke. Cigarette burns on the carpets Beds, carpets, drapes sides of furniture are all worn. It's hot everywhere in the hotel--use the a/c once in a while! A/c unit in the room is loud. Smoking in the elevator. Mattress was rather firm--could be a plus if that's your thing. Could hear my neighbors dropping f-bombs at each other until about 2am. Ah, togetherness. Last thought: Meh. We went to this location showed up around 10pm to check in. We got our room 210 and the room wasn't in the best condition and had white powder along some baseboards but we didn't think much about it since this was just a quick stop. We lied in bed watched some tv. My wife got up to go to the bathroom and when she got back she noticed some movement on her pillow we looked closer and noticed bed bugs. As anyone would she freaked out. We packed and told front desk who refunded us our money. We also had a reservation there on the Sunday on our way back home but we obviously canceled. We ended up having too drive to the next town to get a hotel at around 11:30pm to have to pay double to get a cleaner hotel. It was still a rough night continually waking up checking to see if there's bugs crawling on us. We wrote head office and they forwarded it to the hotel which wrote us this: Dear Guest, We are deeply sorry for the issues you had to face. We strive for the exceptional service to all of our guests. We do inspect our rooms everyday before renting them out and we also have our regular pest control in place through outside professionals. We have so many guests in and out and unfortunately sometimes they bring bugs with them and sometimes they are hard to catch especially the bed bugs. But whenever we find any pest or a guest complaints of it we treat them immediately. We do take pride in our service and make every effort to exceed our guest's expectations. We didn't feel this side apology was enough and they weren't taking ownership. we were inconvenienced and had to pay more for a clean hotel I thought they could have done more to support their brand. Finding a hotel isn't my favorite thing to do. I walked in here to see how much a 1 night stay would cost for just myself and they wanted $139 for a standard room. I told them I would find somewhere else. I decided I would go on the Internet and hotel.com said it would only be $81 for a king size standard room. I came back and showed the girl what I found and she told me that they would match the price I found. They were really booked so I didn't get a king size bed but this double queen is really nice and I appreciate the fact that they matched the price the website said. Especially since finding another hotel sounded awful. The lobby is beautiful with a great breakfast area. They even had a board up front showing what they were serving for breakfast tomorrow. They serve hot food to top it off. Too bad they don't serve food all day. This is a very clean and comfortable place to stay. I would recommend it to anyone. The only reason I put 4 stars is because they are so pricey. The girl at the front desk said it was a higher rate then usual so it might go down by the next time I decide to stay. I was pleasantly surprised with this little gem. I basically went off of the photos on their website and they do not lie. Newly remodeled rooms and friendly staff. The pool was nicely maintain. Breakfast in the morning was great. Make your own waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, hash brown sticks or sausage gravy. An assortment of cereals, milks and yogurts. Fantastic in every way. Stayed for husbands 40th birthday weekend. Bed was comfortable. Probably didnt need jacuzzi room because the hot tub by the pool was wonderful especially after 10pm for adults only. Our room was right next to elevator and didnt even hear it. The renovations they did a few year ago seem to be holding up well. Very updated. Bench was nice addition for putting on shoes. Lots of flat surfaces to put stuff. a/c worked great. Window coverings worked so well 8am seemed like midnight. Wished chair was a bit more comfortable, kinda stiff. One of the best hotels i have stayed in. read more

I can't post a zero, so the best I can do so, in Birch run, Michigan, I stayed there. Did not like the stay staff, I kind of was always hanging around my room, I thought was kind of weird, and whenever I left my room room service was oh, so very sneak in my room and stole my meds and money. I confronted them in birch run. Manager did nothing. I asked just for a refund for my stay nope. Get was more upset that I caught them and confronted him. They WAs caught red handed stealing from a customers room and it's swept under rug. I stayed in 135 I think and I would have rather stayed in my car, about the same amount of room. I just still can't get over the room service, coming in my room so manytimes after I told them no. Y bcuz they looked sketchy, sneaky, and my senses were right.. It's my 6th sense. Having come to town for a funeral my last concern was having to keep my belongings in my car. Housekeeping felt the need to "service and freshen" our room the day we arrived. Having checked in at 7am and returned from funeral at 3, noticed that personal belongings had been stolen. Housekeeping came in only to take the 2 pieces of trash and the hand towel out of the bathroom that had been used and helped themselves to our belongings. Upon notifying the front desk they were instant to defend their staff and never once followed up with me. I had to go to them to get answers and when the GM was notified I was assured I would be contacted when she got in the next day. So instead of being able to be with family and remember the life of our loved one I had to deal with them and not taking responsibility for employing thieves. We left the next morning and upon making an 8 hour drive my phone never rang. I again had to contact her for any follow up and all that was greatly disappointing as she was of absolutely a joke. When there was no investigation or inquiry into any video or formal "look" into the incident. "I asked and she said no nothing was taken." Please tell me who is going to admit to being a thief? If you choose to stay at this "renovated" yet poorly done location, DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN YOUR ROOM IF YOU HAVE TO WALK AWAY FOR ANY TIME.
