Worst Best Western experience. Room seemed clean at first glance. Then I noticed a capsule / pill on the floor at the base of the bed. I notified the front desk who supposedly told housekeeping. At the end of the day, the trash had been emptied but the pill was still there. Not acceptable. Thank God I wasn't traveling with a small child. I left the pill there and told the front desk again - I wasn't touching it. Pool seemed nice but we didn't use it. Liked the availability of beach towels - we used them at the beach. Breakfast was not good, at all. Eggs seemed fake. Greasy sausage and for fruit - no oranges in the citrus capital of the world?!?! Baked goods were ok so stuck with a bagel both mornings. Took a while to toast - old, dirty toasters barely ran. Plans changed so we contacted front desk - they couldn't do anything because it was a third party booking. Called booking.com to cancel and refund the last night. They said they'd check with the hotel who of course said no to the refund. Asked again at the front desk and finger pointing went back to booking.com. Vicious cycle, money gone. read more

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at !!!!! Starting with the mold smell upon entering... omg ... 1 very slow small elevator!!! The old and unsanitary carpet throughout the hotel ... the used dirty towel we found upon entering our room .. the list goes on and on .. the entire place has a damp feeling.. not even a box of facial tissue in the room ... this place should be closed down !! Hot, AC doesn't work well at all, air feels humid, bed feels damp, carpet feels damp. The whole room sucks.

The property is undergoing renovations which was not disclosed to us while booking or checking in. The pool was closed due to renovations and there were some loud construction noises as early as 7:30 a.m. The room looked clean for the most part but could use a detailed cleaning. There was plaster texturing on the shower surround and the walls in the bathroom looked dirty. I think most of these problems were due to construction and possibly temporary, however the unfriendly staff and hard mattress can't be blamed on the construction. The staff wasn't rude but they weren't friendly or knowledgeable either. My husband had to walk the second and third floor looking for vending because the front desk didn't know which floor it was on. One word answers and no smiles were a common theme of their hospitality. We stopped here to sleep before a long drive and might have slept just as well sleeping in the car. I think I woke up every hour. The free breakfast was good though! read more

I've stayed at this hotel numerous times in the last several years, generally for a week at a time. My last visit was extended of necessity; and though it was a busy weekend, the staff made it extremely easy to check out of one room and into another at a busy hour of the day. Housekeeping this trip, however, was seriously lacking. There were roaches in my room, both dead and alive. Additionally, though I did keep the Do Not Disturb tag on my door for several of the days given the odd hours I was keeping, the 2 days I specifically made it a point to be out of my room early in the day and asked to have my room cleaned, nobody touched it. It is VERY disheartening to return to your room needing sleep after a LONG day and walk in to towels still on the floor and beds unmade. I will be back in the area again and will likely be considering different accommodations. read more

The breakfast area is a spacious space in a separate room near the pool, instead of the typical cramped corner at so many hotels. My one tiny quibble is that they offer microwave oatmeal at breakfast, but there is no microwave (I asked). read more

The grab and go breakfast was the best so far , and the rooms were nice . I am giving a three starts because the staff wasn't friendly at all , they seem to not understand us since we have accent and they don't try to . The lady that checked us in was the only one that was nice , I think her name was Monika . Anyway, I booked for two nights and also have a dog . Since we finished our things we decided to just get back into the road and checked out way earlier. We left at 2pm . I asked the front desk lady to waive the pet fee for that extra night and she even didn't try to be nice . I was already paying for the night and I am not complaining, but the daily dog fee could be waived. read more

If I could put no starts, I would. I stayed for 5 nights. After the first two nights my cards were cancelled causing a very major inconvenience. The shower drain is clogged and all the contents inside the drain would flow out into the tub after showering for a certain period of time. WORST HOUSEKEEPING EVER. They never cleaned my room once! I'd never recommend this location to anyone. Only if your desperate and in need of shelter. Only time I'd want to come back if I was forced to by a force of EXTREME weather or at gun point. read more

Very clean with renovated rooms. The beds are comfortable and the room is pretty spacious. Refrigerator , microwave and small coffee maker are available in the room. Great selection of breakfast items and the attendant Katherine is very friendly and keeps the area very clean. There is a waffle maker, breads, muffins, bagels, cereals and hot breakfast items available, just to name a few. The coffee is not bad! Great place to stay. read more

The front desk clerk Monika was absolutely horrid. We were traveling from Punta Gorda where my home was destroyed in the hurricane. We had a truck and small enclosed trailer. There were literally 40 empty parking spaces and we were backed up next to the dumpster. An employee came to our truck and told us we had to go across the street to the closed Cracker Barrel to park. Literally every thing I had left was in that trailer. I asked Monica if we could stay in the lot and she said absolutely not. I explained our situation and she still refused. Heartless soul less creature they gave up front representing their company. I am done with Best Western. Went across the street to La Quinta and had no problems at all. read more

Spent a night here on the way to South Florida. Got a room for $60 on Hotwire without being able to see the hotel until after paying. It's a nice four story building, front desk staff is really nice. There is a big lot, a Cracker Barrel right next door, and plenty around...but it's a pain in the ass to get around on the main road. However, don't listen to Google maps. If you want to get somewhere, turn right out of the lot, then left, then left again and you'll get to an actual light that doesn't require crossing 3 lanes and making a u-turn. It's nothing special, it does its job. I felt a bit sketched out by some work dudes in the back part of the lot, I wanted to park by my window but changed my mind when I see them all looking at me, smiling, and not looking away. One of the front desk ladies went to talk to them, and they told her they were just smiling because they saw a pretty girl. We all agreed that uh, yeah, saying that about a lone female is still sketchy. But they promised me someone's around all night. Considering some people who checked in before me were on the way to the Daytona 500, makes sense. It's right along the interstate, although the noise isn't bad unless a semi goes by, and only is really there if you're on that side of the building facing it. TV in the room is pretty old, but who the hell cares, they have completely free WiFi that works flawlessly. Would I stay here again? Probably not, but that more has to do with how much of a disaster the main road through here is. But you're really not going to find a better spot to spend the night in this area (aka as far south as you can get as one person in a day that isn't Orlando). read more

Spent a night here on the way to Atlanta. Got a room for $56 on Hotwire 1 hour before arriving (we picked a spot to stop while driving, and then hotwired to find a hotel) without being able to see the hotel until after paying. Reviews seemed decent, so was 'content' with what hotwire gave us. Building is old from the outside. Lobby is small/closed in as this was the decor back then. The older lady checking us in was quite gruff. So here it's 10:00 p.m. on a Tuesday and when I ask if I can get a different room it was 'no'. Perhaps it was the way she said it. Anyway....The rooms were actually quite clean. What I didn't like was that at 7 a.m. (perhaps before) we heard beeping, kind of like when a commercial truck backs up. Unfortunately it didn't stop for 2 hours. When i went outside I found they were doing construction. Not only not being able to sleep in but also the fact the hotel receptionist gave me a room backing up to this construction only irritated me further. I said something to the morning receptionist and she said since hotwire had our money she couldn't do anything but would ask the Manager who would get in after us to give us a call. Well, 1/2 a day later and the Manager didn't call me..I had to call him. And when explained the situation, he said the same thing..hotwire. But what struck me was his tone, and what he didn't say...'he never once said 'I'm sorry you had this issue'. Sometimes that's all you need to hear. So in summary: Clean rooms (good enough for a stop over), bad customer service = won't stay again unless it was the only thing available. read more

Let me start off by saying we have stayed at numerous Westerns all over the United States.. This hotel was absolutely the worse experience.. First there were no rooms available until after 3:00PM. Even though we had reservations.. We stayed there last Thursday Feb 1 2018 for one night... The noise from the expressway was horrible I felt like we were sleeping on the highway or trying to.. The bed was so hard it was like sleeping on the floor.. The tissue box was empty and only one roll of toilet paper even though it was only one night..The room should have been stocked.. This place has the friendliest staff of any hotel or resort I've ever stayed in in my 46 years. They really feel like family and truly want your stay to be enjoyable and comfortable. For an hour or two every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evening, they have free food, beer, wine, and sangria for guests in their dining area. The rooms are nicely designed, comfortable, and offer a lot of space. Free breakfast and coffee every morning. They have an outdoor pool and a small workout facility as well. Great location right off of I-75 and a short jog from just about anywhere you would need or want to go in town. read more

Some good staff. But not all. There are some particularly un-customer-service-focused front desk staff here. One literally can take 10-15 minutes to do an existing prepaid reservation checkin. Another always LIES to avoid entering a Rewards Number into the system. Decent rooms. Carpets need steam cleaning. Stairways are dingy. Beds decent. Pillows too thick. Need some variation. My family and I stay at this hotel a couple times per year and have always had excellent customer service; however, this time it was especially outstanding. One evening we found our car wouldn't start as we were leaving the hotel for dinner. One of the hotel's employees from the maintenance department (Robert) went above and beyond to help us. He even stayed past his shift, on his own personal time, to help with getting our car up and running. This hotel is very fortunate to have such a considerate and conscientious employee such as Robert. Additionally, Kathryn in the hotel's breakfast room is outstanding as well. She keeps the place spotless and is so very helpful and friendly to all. read more

THe motel is very nice with a friendly staff, we bookeda room with two queen beds Friday thru Tuesday for the upcoming threat of Dorian. When we saw Dorian was slow moving we went through Expidia to extend Tuesday night through THursday night but could only get a king room at a higher rate. We took the room to have a safe place but upon arrival here we were able to change reservation to keep current room with two queens for our entire stay. We asked about keeping same rate as original reservation since we were not moving but the assistant manager would only lower rate $5 so forcing us to pay an additional $24 a night. I feel this is price gouging and taking advantage of a natural disaster leaving us no choice but to pay the elevated price. So sad businesses would take advantage of our misfortune. read more

Had a very great experience here. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of price. It was too expensive for the room in my opinion. I had a reservation and the lady upfront got me checked in in less than 10 minutes. She was super polite and reminded me about breakfast in the morning. Our room was clean and so was the bathroom. Bed sheets were clean as well. Bed was a bit firm but it was clean so we didn't care. Everything in the room worked and we had a nice quiet evening. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. They had cereal, waffl s you make on your own yum! They also had hot sausage links and eggs. We would definitely stay here in the future. read more

Nice hotel for the money. Descent condition, nice employees, average pool, and the fridge in the room actually keeps stuff really cold. The problem is that half the rooms face I75 and the hotel is literally only a couple hundred feet from it. If you can sleep through anything, I recommend it otherwise request a room on the other side of the building. Percentage wise, how much more would it have cost to put in sound resistant windows on that side when the place was built? read more

In a last minute emergency, I luckily was able to get a hotel room here for three nights to wait out Hurricane Matthew since my horse had to evacuate to the Ocala area. I was expecting to not even be able to get a hotel, so I was extremely grateful they had rooms. It is conveniently located right off of the highway in Ocala, surrounded by shopping, restaurants, gas stations, etc. The amenities are 3 star at best. The hotel smells kind of funky (cigarettes and cheap air fresheners as an attempt to mask it). The rooms are average. Not great beds. However, in a last minute bind, this hotel was sufficient to what I needed. Unlike my place back home currently, they have air conditioning, power, and running hot and cold water- so I'll take that. The other perk is that each room has a mini fridge and a microwave which was perfect considering I brought days worth of food to ride out the hurricane and was not sure that I would have anywhere to store it. If I come back to Ocala, this won't be my first pick, but if they have rooms and you are in a bind, this place is decent and takes care of the essentials. read more

Beds are uncomfortable. There's only one elevator. There's not enough parking for guests. The breakfast is below average and there isn't enough room to sit down. You'll be fighting crowds everywhere else in Florida don't do it in your hotel too. read more

We have stayed at the BW in Ocala Park, in Ocala, Fl for many years. Usually we have been very please with the accommodations, but this year was a disaster! We made reservations online through one of the booking companies for a room on first floor because my husband has walking issues. Arrived about 6 PM after a long drive from TN on Jan 30. We were suppose to stay two nights. Upon arrival we were told we would be on 3rd floor and that there would be no hot water until about midnight. We heard another lady ask for 1st floor and was told it would cost an extra $5 a night. When I ask about that I was told because we went through the booking agency they couldn't make any changes, but our conformation showed we had 1st floor. When riding up on the elevator a lady told us they gave her a refund because of the hot water situation. Went back down, ask about that; NOOO, can't do that for us because of booking on line. We were dead tired and just went on to the room. Found dirty sheets on one of the beds. Went back down ask for clean sheets, they said they would send someone up to change the bed. One of the desk clerks came up with sheets and was outraged with the dirty sheets. We noticed that one corner of the mattress looked like someone had bled a large patch that ran over the edges and down the side. She didn't seem to have a solution for that so I ask it we could flip the mattress at least. She did start helping me flip when she screamed and dropped the mattress. When I picked the mattress and looked, the total center of the mattress looked like something bled out on it. She went back down to the front desk and said they were going to quarantine the room and moved us to another. We really just wanted out of there. We were told since we booked on line. they could not help us. We went next door to Cracker Barrel ate and decided to stay the night. The Motel was big enough to give us the phone number to the booking agency and we called and cancelled the next night's reservation and got out of there. They told us SORRY and we will give you some reward point, which we have no idea what that means. I am sure this won't get printed in the reviews but we are so disappointed in Best Western in Ocala.
