I found insulation labs and Ray came out for an estimate. He told me the same thing as ChatGPT did so it confirmed my suspicions. His quote was definitely on the expensive side compare to a competitors quote but he did mention that his quote is expensive because they use 12mm thick vapor barriers which is more resistant. The other competitor quoted me around half the price but for 6mm barriers. I again asked ChatGPT and it told me that 12mm is preferred because 6mm is prone to breaking once a contractor or someone go down to the crawlspace and when that happens it loses its purpose to control vapor. As a result I went with insulations labs and they spent a day putting it in. So far I haven't seen any issues and I believe they have done a good job from the pictures they shared

Price was very competitive, which was better than most quotes that I got. Quote didn't include any plywood, but he threw in 2 plywood for free (only had to replace 6 plywood total, so paid for 4). We got our roof done during busy rainy season, so picking a date was a challenge. The project itself went well. On the first day of the tear down, I was surprised how fast and efficient the team worked. By the end of the day, roofing materials were already delivered, damaged plywood replaced and underlayment installed. They finished the project exactly on time, as they said they would. Expensive but it was emergency and he did it in the rain. Very respectable. Fast forward to today... I had to hire someone else in palmdale that my warranty company told me to hire to get my roof partially covered. This is where i have a problem. My issue with Roberto is he doesn't have any integrity. As a background, I bought a home from a house flipper that painted an old roof with fresh black paint. This literally tricked everyone including home and roof inspector. However, when I asked him to make a comment that the roof was painted so I can bring this issue up with the inspection company, he said "no i dont want to get involved if you are not paying me to redo the roof. They will ask me questions. Not worth it." A CA licensed roofer should always protect the public. I paid him handsomely $1800 to put three tarps down and so I am also his customer. He should just state the truth and not coward out. Yet money makes all his decisions. And fear. I have text message exchanges with him to reveal all this and will report all of this to CSLB because he is the type of licensed roofer that CSLB does not want, those that only care about money and not about the public. Btw, his quote for my roof was 23k for 30 squares, significantly higher than the one that I hired. He then says he would match any roofer. Go figure.
