The kids who were the tutors were goofing around instead of helping her. It's great that they are trying to teach the teens responsibility by having them tutor, but they need supervision. We talked to them several times about this and each time they promised to fix it, with no improvement. In short the tutors are just high schoolers, and without supervision they are just babysitters. My daughter was so excited to get her grades up, and was crushed that they let her down.

The assessments don't necessarily match what is taught in schools and I feel a good portion of our summer session is spent just trying to figure out where exactly she's at math-wise. My first one is now on a scholarship at Seattle U, the little one is looking to apply for schools this fall. Their service is very professional, and focused on their strong teaching structure, specifically applied to your kid's strengths and improvement opportunities, they have also shown great flexibility in adjusting load and focus of classes to our kids' specific needs and priorities, changing along the way. Not to say they do magic, kids, and parents, need to be paying attention, completing assignments, and speaking up when something is changing in the kids' learning priorities, which, with standard testing, is likely to happen when you are taking more than one test, looking to get the benefit of super scoring. Pandemic totally broke their regular curriculum stride and threaten their learning ability, going to Huntington basically allowed them to rebuild, recreate that ability, particularly for math. We recommend.

I was waiting at a coffee shop a few doors down. I returned 20 minutes prior to the end of my kid's appointment to find my seven year old who has ADHD and other delays waiting alone in the waiting room with no adult. I sat with her for several minutes before anyone returned. When I spoke to the employee she told me it was "safe" for children to be unsupervised in their lobby. I completely disagree and I am so thankful that nothing happened to my daughter. I would not recommend this center!

To provide some context, in December of 2022, our daughter's first grade teachers summoned us for a conference to discuss her progress with ELA and Mathematics. At this point in time, they were very concerned that she was not performing at grade level and even attempted to hand us a packet for special education to consider it for our daughter. We decided to push back, asked for six months to work with her and tutors before proceeding down that path. We first attempted Varsity tutors, but it just did not meet our needs. Then we found Ms. Payton and Mrs. Anu, and something magical happened. Within a few sessions, her teachers started making comments about her wonderful progress. By March 2023 (the date we set for a follow-up on her progress), her teachers could not stop raving about her progress. Fast forward to her final conference in June, and she surpassed all of their expectations and is now on track to be ready for second grade. What has stuck out the most is their repeated comments of how much confidence she has now. Because they have provided her with the tools to work through ELA and Mathematics, our daughter actually enjoys it now (before she would cry at the mention of either). She even walks around with a notebook practicing equations all on her own! If you are considering tutoring for your child, do not look any further!

Grades have gone up for both of them and they are now A/B students taking honors/IB classes. The staff is very flexible on scheduling, and will add additional days to tutor if tests are coming up. My older son tried to get help from his Geometry teacher after school but there was a line of students waiting at her desk for help and it was a huge waste of time. Once he was able to tutor at Highline Tutoring Center he went up from a D to a high B. Our school district is too poor for mathbooks so teachers were using handouts to teach Math but that is a funding problem in Washington State. Highline Tutoring and Testing Center in Burien is great!

My kids specifically asked to keep being enrolled here because they enjoy mastering so many math concepts and being confident at school. My eldest used to struggle with math but she's now ahead of her grade level. My middle kid has more affinity for math and she's now learning 6th grade math at the age of 8 years old. Whether your kid is advanced in math or behind or anywhere in between, there really is tremendous value in having them attend Mathnasium. Big plus about the Snoqualmie center is that they usually have only 2 students per instructor, and the max is 3. Other centers cap it at 4 students which makes it much harder for your child to get enough learning done. Also, Mathnasium does not assign homework which my kids (and I) absolutely love. Fantastic results!…read more My daughter ("M") loved the math tutor she had from 8th through 11th grade, but, come 12th grade, M decided to take "Honors Physics with Calculus" and "Honors Statistics" at the same time. She also wanted to bring up her math SAT score. Concerned that keeping up with M's classes would require too much work, her tutor recommended she switch to FusionMath (based here in Seattle). If you visit their website, you will see bios of all their current tutors. However, when I emailed the company to explain the situation, I said it would be great to get some recommendations from within the list. Mark Batho, the owner, emailed me back within 24 hours introducing himself and inviting me to speak on the phone, which we did shortly thereafter. He started out as a tutor himself, and it was clear from the start he was a very smart man and a highly committed educator. Although he said he had multiple tutors that could handle the job, he did recommend two, both of which were PhD candidates at UW in physics. M started with one shortly thereafter. They hit it off fabulously and M got A's in both of her honors math classes. Moreover, she raised her Math SAT score from 670 up to 730. M's tutor was personable, highly capable, and able to schedule evening and weekend hours, so M could do theatre in the afternoon after school. The owner, Mark Batho, is a delightful man and really seemed to care about how well M did. In total, I very strongly recommend FusionMath. (Fwiw, Mr. Batho also owns Uplift Writing - a writing tutoring company!)
