So I've written a review for the Richmond location previously before (fantastic experience) and…read morewanted to share my experience with the new Broadway location today. Man - the service is great here. I walk in because I have a question about upgrading but also wanted to check out the prebuilds. I talk to one of the staff members (His name is Lucky) and first thing he says "I remember you - you come to the Richmond location sometimes right?." The thing is I haven't been to the Richmond Location in probably more than a year but the man remembers me. All my computer equipment comes from Memory Express and him remembering me as a customer is a pretty cool perk. So I talk to Lucky about the upgrade I want to do and he's knowledgeable. I want the store to open up my gaming laptop and replace the ram and ssd. It's a pretty simple procedure and he knows the price right away. I wasn't sure what ram modules to buy either so he does a quick check faster than me doing the Google search myself. On top of the hardware cost, 50 bucks for the installation or 75 if I want the data transfered. I don't have to worry about losing a small screw or opening up the proprietary laptop my self its pretty good deal and I'm sold. I'll bring in my laptop later. I change the subject and talk to him about maybe buying a prebuild as and he's knowledgeable on the subject. I tell him that I'm worried that the technicians might be rushed and the cabling might be messy. He brings me to the prebuilds and opens up the side window and shows me that the cabling work they do is good and it is. It's good a sign that he didn't hesitate to open up the builds on the floor. He even says that if i wanted to do a custom water loop they can do that as well - pretty cool. Memory Express has knowledgeable staff and consistently good and FRIENDLY service from all locations.. Do not even think of going across the street to Canada Computers as the customer service there is atrocious (check out my review) and their return policy is garbage. Thanks again Lucky - I'll be coming back in soon!

This is the second time I've taken my custom PC into Memory Express on Broadway. (The first time…read morewas several years ago when they rebuilt my system after the water cooling system failed. They did a super job). This time I needed to have my system upgraded to Windows 11 and upgrade the hard drive. My computer was ready the next day and cost considerably less than I expected. Young Shintaro at the customer service desk was very helpful and made a number of recommendations to improve the upgrade. I'm an old lady and sometimes get 'attitude' at technical service desks but there was none of that here. Excellent customer service and highly recommended. Good job ME!

WARNING: Shady business practices, severe privacy violations, cheap aftermarket parts, and…read morepre-planned "liquid damage" excuses. I brought my iPhone 14 Plus here for a screen and battery replacement. What followed was a multi-month nightmare of zero communication, privacy breaches, and a completely botched repair that has left my phone running hot and barely usable. I am posting this to warn the Vancouver community and back up my experience with direct, black-and-white proof from my phone's own system settings. 1. Unauthorized Off-Site Transport & Massive Privacy Violations * Taken to a Private Home: I only discovered my phone had been removed from the commercial shop and taken to a technician's private residence after repeatedly calling to find out why the repair was taking so long. * Camera Roll Evidence: When I finally got my phone back, I found photos on my camera roll of someone else's laptop that were taken while my phone was at this technician's house. * The Passcode Trap: They demanded my personal passcode under the guise of "testing the hardware." Authorized Apple service providers do not need your passcode to run diagnostics. Having my passcode allowed them to bypass security, clone my device's data, and access my personal life unsupervised. 2. The Software Cover-Up & Lost Data * The Secret Wipe: To try and hide the system alerts caused by their cheap parts, they did a full factory reset and restore on my phone before handing it back. * The Proof: Because of this unannounced wipe, secure apps like Facebook Messenger completely forced a security logout, and every single password I had manually saved on my device over the last few weeks was entirely erased from the local memory. 3. Black-and-White Technical Proof (See Attached Photos I have attached screenshots of my iPhone's battery settings showing the exact state they returned my device in: * The "Unknown Part" Warning: My phone displays an "Important Battery Message: Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple battery". The system is completely unable to determine the health of this battery. I paid for a proper repair and got cheap, unprogrammed, unverified aftermarket hardware. * Abysmal Battery Drain: My screenshots show the battery dropping from 73% at 7:31 AM down to 71% at 7:36 AM, and plummeting to 69% by 7:40 AM. That is a 4% drop in just 9 minutes from light Safari use (with only 1 minute of screen-off background activity running). This "new" battery is dropping faster than a degraded, 5-year-old battery. * Touch Screen Failure: The replacement screen is also highly defective. It lags constantly, auto-dims and brightens erratically on its own, and requires multiple taps just to get speech-to-text to turn on. 4. The "Liquid Damage" Setup & The "New Owner" Script * The Setup: As I was walking out the door, the technician, Charles, casually mentioned he "noticed trace water damage along the bottom of the phone." This is a classic, calculated setup to void my repair warranty. If the cheap display or battery fails next week, he will try to blame "liquid damage"--even though my original intake receipt has absolutely no mention of water damage. * The "New Owner" Script: After leaving a previous bad review, Charles called me, refunded $120 of the labor, and begged me to delete the review because he "just took over the business a couple of months ago." Public review history shows him using this exact same "I just took over the business" guilt-trip script on other customers over a year ago. Do not fall for it. * The Recycling Danger: This shop heavily promotes "free electronics recycling." Given their total disregard for data privacy and unauthorized off-site transport of devices, I strongly warn anyone against trusting them with old tech that still has your hard drives and personal data intact. Wiping customer data to hide cheap parts, secretly taking devices to private homes, and using manipulative scripts to delete honest reviews is highly deceptive. Avoid Burrard Laptops (also operating as Vancouver Laptops).

They were famous for their terrible service. In 1998, I built a desktop PC workstation from scratch at their store because their staff was too busy to build a custom-built computer on the same day for me. I was working for an architect company that needed a new computer ASAP. I ordered and paid for the parts from the counter and they told me to go to the back room and build it yourself, so I did it in less than one hour. Their parts were problem free and the computer worked flawlessly. This was at the original location. They closed their original location at 45 East Broadway and moved two blocks west on Broadway. When I visited their current location, they had one staff member at the counter. It's a place where you can't walk in and browse like Best Buy or Apple, but you have to know what you want. It's like ordering at a fast food counter. You will need to go to their 90's style website (they haven't changed their website design since 1995) and browse through their products. Write down, print or show on your phone what you want to buy and bring cash if you want to pay less. Service was quick, efficient and pleasant. I asked for a bag and the staff gave me an old Safeway plastic bag. I never had to return any products or dealt with warranty because their products were mostly problem free. Since I use Apple now, I have no desire to purchase any of their Windows-based PC or laptop computers.
