This is quite a decent sized Best Buy for such a small city. You won't find everything that you need in this store since the selection is quite limited due to store size. However, for daily electronic supplies and not so uniques items, you can definitely find your needs. Store is very organized and staffs are quite friendly. Not a long line which is very good. read more

I've been a loyal Best Buy customer for over 25 years and have purchased numerous laptops from them -- including three in just the past two years for myself, my daughter, and my wife. I've always added the 2- or 3-year protection plans because they provided peace of mind, even if I rarely had to use them. During my last purchase at the Morehead City location, a staff member told me he was "upgrading" my protection plan to some sort of total protection package. I clearly stated I didn't care what it was called -- I just wanted two years of protection, like I always get. I even complimented Best Buy on their protection plans at the time. Fast forward 18 months: I experience a minor screen issue after some rubbing alcohol spilled on the top of the laptop, causing screen glare. I brought it in thinking the 2-year plan I paid $179.99 for would cover it -- only to be told my "warranty" had been canceled. Apparently, what I had wasn't a protection plan but a membership -- something I was never told clearly. That membership had expired, and they refused to honor the protection I believed I had paid for. When I questioned it, the staff seemed dismissive and evasive. It felt less like a misunderstanding and more like dishonesty. This experience left a bad taste in my mouth. After spending thousands of dollars with Best Buy, I expected better. The lack of transparency and accountability here borders on fraud, and the customer service at this location was appalling. Unless something changes, I don't see myself shopping at this Best Buy again -- or possibly any Best Buy. read more

Not too busy and prices weren't even as high as expected.. sales are good.. sales people were very helpful and gave us info we needed

Turned OFF the lights and pushed me out of the store 5 minutes before closing with ~ $21000.00 office PC and printer replacement purchase in hand. "Oh you can pick that up in Jacksonville if you really need it that bad." -Employee The ONLY reason I shop here is due to TotalCare support if needed, but locking the door early makes sense with Q4 FY24 revenue down by 4.8% compared to the same period for 2023. Go somewhere else folks-this is a sinking ship. read more

Best Buy has the worst customer service. I needed a tv, I spoke with a rep who said it would be delivered today between 12 and 2. then got a text saying cancelled . I called and they said it was being delivered. I called back and they said the delivery was cancell. no reason, nothing. Never buy from here. read more

So go into Best Buy and specifically say: We need a stackable washer/dryer (picture below) there are floor models, and we decided on Samsung. Delivery guys come and they say: We can't install because there is no stackable bracket (a bracket which goes in between to secure dryer) such as the one on the floor. We were never told it didn't come with one and you have to order separately. I go to Best Buy to ask why we weren't told and I got. I don't know why as they charged us more money and has to be shipped separately read more

Do not go here. Went there to get my phone fixed, simple broken screen with the device still working. Tried to give it to them on Monday and they said I need an appointment to drop the phone off.... Came back Wednesday with and appointment and dropped it off to be fixed. Pretty high price too, $130 for the repair. Came back Friday to pick it up and the idiot repairman stripped the screw and gave up. Somehow he broke the the phone itself even more too, the display was now stuck on, completely black, and touch screen no longer worked. Gave it back and then acted like it was my fault that he stripped the screw. He looked like he had never touched a screwdriver in his life and the damage seems like he used the wrong kind or screwed it the wrong way. Fully incompetent person and should not be trusted with your belongings or time. The other staff seem pretty clueless as well and offered me no help. read more

Steven in the cellphone department took great care of me on October 30, 2023, Monday to pick up my Samsung Galaxy A54. He downloaded the information from my Galaxy A20 to the A54 and explained to me some the importance of the new phone. Steven was professional, courteous, and friendly in providing excellent service. Keep up the good work and I do appreciate good customer relations. I definitely enjoyed the service and notice many items are economical. Thank you! Alex read more

Alex in the computer section was completely wonderful. After asking some dude named Brian where to go in a tiny store he pointed and went back to texting. Alex jumped up as soon as we made eye contact and got me the product I needed, explained it perfectly, and got me out in under 5 minutes. Fantastic for a weary traveler. Sales associate Michael and Geek Squad Manager Matt are incredible! Michael did a great job selling us our TV and setting everything up(credit card, insurance etc...). Matt was so friendly and helpful with the confusion and actually docked the price of my new Apple Watch because of the confusion of the misplaced TV. Thank you all so much! read more

I returned an unopened item - a monitor I'd purchased for working while on vacation but ended up not needing - and they initially refused to return $30 of the ticket because of some digital promotion they were running - although I paid full price for the item and was entirely unaware of any "free" digital downloads and thus didn't use them. When the girl handed me the ticket with the reduced amount I asked verbatim "Why am I not receiving the full $109 paid?", to which Stephanie got twitchy and said "Ma'am I don't know I'm just trying to do my job and I understand you're upset...". I responded that if she's pushed to that level by a normal tone or voice, perhaps customer service isn't for her. She marched over to the desk at the front to get her bald, Jesus-tatted, Gen-X bro supervisor who was immediately dismissive and literally said he was uninterested in seeing my receipt with the actual amount. He stomped over to the register and fixed the error - not that anyone admitted they made an error - and when I told him that perhaps the employees needed better customer service training I was told I'm not allowed back in. (At which point he was absolutely told he could go eff himself. Loudly.) So I'm glad he could get all puffy chested and pretend he's a big strong dude because he clearly needed that moment today. That ban from the Best Buy in Morehead City is really going to hurt because we all know Best Buy is still super relevant and definitely not on the verge of going under. (And if you're reading this, you can absolutely still go eff yourself.) read more

Tried to purchase an unlocked phone. Hardly any employees. One salesperson slouched over the asset protection desk talking to AP. I asked to see Samsung 10 plus phones. Sorry we are out. I'm sure there was a manager there, hint "call in dome extra help in a high demand product dept". read more

Perhaps the worst best buy of them all. The customer service was BEYOND unacceptable. I was looking into a pair of headphones for the PS4 labeled "opened box". I noticed that they were in clearance and was eager to buy them. I was then approached by a incredible rude employee who proceeded to tell me to immediately put them back in the box. The BOX was labeled OPENED and was already opened. A embedded moment making me look like a thieft. Completely unacceptable!!! read more

I will never step foot in or order online from another Best Buy. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I ordered more than 3500 worth of Kitchen appliances. The refrigerator is on back order until August. The other three items were delivered Monday 7/6. The contracted delivery driver did not install the range properly, removing the tip over lock and not installing the new one. The range is not level. When I called to speak to him about it, he cussed me out over the phone. Way to hire quality contractors BestBuy! I have called the Morehead City Best Buy three times. I have spoken to two managers both have not called me back. Today i couldn't even speak to anyone before I was rudely hung up on with the employee telling me they were too busy. Now I'm being told the range can't be installed properly because the order isn't complete....remember the fridge on back order? So now i have an unlevel range that is a safety hazard. BEST BUY. FIX MY DELIVERY OR REFUND MY ENTIRE PURCHASE. I shall continue to call, email, fax the corporate headquarters until someone at the local Morehead City Best Buy tells me HOW AND WHEN they plan on fixing my range. Best Buy never has much in stock. Their "Geek Squad" can't do much either. Apple told me to take my IPad for a battery change to Morehead City Best Buy. They didn't know how, tried to sell me a new one. My model is still the latest model-3years old, a newer version is not made. Why would I spend $700 to $800 for a new one of the same thing? Store needs people who know the products and devices they sell. read more

Useless. Untrained sales staff. I suppose the Best Buy manager expects us to spend $8000 with an employee who knows nothing - absolutley nothing about appliances. Unfriendly - no, I take that back. Went there to look for a laptop with an i5 processor; one that would work fairly quick while on-line for basic needs and research info. I am looking for what is on sale, priced in the $500 range. A heavy set, dishelved, 40 something year old man tells me that I need the computers in the next aisle (the $950-1200 range) laptops because the other ones are not reliable, will not last and are made with inferior components. When I informed him I have no desire to spend double the money on the more expensive unit. Only after then he says that he no longer has any of the other computers left. In the end, I wasted my time, recieved little to zero assistance and had a conversation with the worst representative I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with at any Bestbuy store. I will no longer spend my time, or money at the Morehead City Store again. As a family, we spent thousands at Best Buy stores throughout the years, having myself, my wife and three sons that went through college buying goods from Bestbuy stores. read more

I purchased a pair of Noise Cancelling (I was told), Sony, Bluetooth, head phones for $150. 1. They were not Noise Cancelling even though the salesman and the display said so. I questioned the salesman at the time of purchase since nowhere on the box did it state "Noise Cancelling". He insisted he was right! They were not! Returning them was not an issue but it meant no video or movies for a week's worth of intensive care in the hospital which was what I was depending on them for! Poorly displayed details on the item, uneducated sales staff. Not my favorite place to shop at all! read more

This place has the worst customer service and the employees have really terrible attitudes. I couldn't even get help there making my purchase. Taking advantage of the covid crisis to jack up prices on laptops. They mysteriously only have 1000 dollar computers in stock now.

I recently had my macbook pro crash on me, and not being close to an apple store, I decided to take my laptop into Geek Squad at the Best Buy in Morehead City, NC. While I would not consider myself an expert on hardware diagnostics for apple products I am not computer illiterate either. I described my issues with the Geek Squad attendant and he ran some basic diagnostics. He was helpful in his initial review, but iterated he could not service apple products locally. He suggested the laptop be sent off to the regional Geek Squad Apple service repair center. Seeing no other immediate option I went along as suggested. After a few days at the service center I received a phone call stating the hard drive had crashed and the data was unrecoverable. To repair my laptop they would need to replace the hard drive, hard drive cable and bracket with a total estimate of $350 for parts and labor. Strike one! This seemed a bit excessive and I declined the service, but was still charged around $45 for the diagnostic service. At least I figured out the problem...right? Had the issue been this simple I would be content. When I got the laptop back I ordered a new cable and hard drive for around $150. Once I open the back of the laptop I found two of the hard drive screws missing and one was stripped. Mind you, the laptop had never needed any service before and the casing was never removed before Geek Squad's service. Strike two against Geek Squad. Seeing this heightened my skepticism and I decided to test my hard drive by replacing only the hard drive cable. Low and behold the system fired up and was back to life. Not only was my data fully recovered, the system was fully functional by replacing a $20 part. Yet Geek Squad wanted to charge me almost $350. Strike three! Geek Squad you're fired and will never get another dime from me. Best Buy, while I was a loyal customer, I am hesitant to do further business with you. In the past I have spent thousands at your stores, but this shady practice of upselling repairs that are unnecessary and costly has soured me to your business. Amazon here I come. read more

As I told the manager today they have permanently lost any business from me. Since we are in the middle of nowhere in the past I have put up with their sh*t but now they squashed all sense of customer service. We purchased a piece of electronics two weeks ago from Best Buy after our modem died. I simply asked the to sign a statement for the insurance company saying this $100 item is not something they (or anyone for that matter these days) repairs. First off I and 3 other customers waited 30 minutes because even though there were 10 employees standing around none had any authority to do anything apparently since they just stood there helping no one. Then I finally get to speak to the manager...he Refused to help even though by this time they had pulled up my records and confirmed my recent purchase as well as prior appliances and other stuff we have bought...literally thousands of dollars in the past 3 years. Then to add insult to injury he had the nerve to try to sell me THEIR store coverage for the modem I just purchased saying "sure it is covered, you just get a new one since no zone repairs these!! So I went over to Walmart..no problem they'd sign it; Radio Shack absolutely courteous and glad to sign it. Regardless of price WE WILL NEVER shop there again. Don't know what say Beth S was there but she must not have been a regular customer like us since all residents have put up with this lack of service for as long as we have been here(3 years) read more

Some of the rudest employees I've ever met. I hardly ever go to this location because they rarely have anything I'm looking for in stock, but I had time to kill the other day and thought I'd check it out. Of course, they didn't have what I was looking for, and as I was walking out, a few employees were sitting by the doors up front looking mad that I was leaving without buying anything. I was halfway out of the door when the girl said, "you need to exit out of the other side." I responded with "okay, sorry" and walked all the way around to the other door. She didn't even look up or say "have a good evening" or anything that you'd expect from a professional. Last time I'll go there if I can help it. read more

I went to go find a phone case for a phone I had already previously purchased at the Verizon store. I looked around for probably about 15 seconds before one employee came up and asked if I needed help, in which he directed me to the specific case I needed. I stood there for a little bit deciding and then I walked over to the other phones to just browse and another employee came up and asked me If I needed help. Superb, that is the only word I can think of. Even the door greeter was upbeat when I entered and when I left. That is an awesome staff. The second phone specialist's name was Orin, I cant remember the first guys name. They both did an awesome job though. read more

Absolutely terrible experience At the Morehead City, NC store location. I go in with my little brother looking to get him a birthday present, as his birthday was just the other day. We are casually walking through the store, looking at items. My little brother picked up an item, to show me, and put it back near where it was. Literally, 10 minutes goes by, we had already moved from that location, to look at something else, and the associate, who (I guess) watches the camera's at the front of the store, takes the time out of his "busy" schedule of looking at these cameras, to come over to my 15 year old brother, and tell him in the RUDEST possible tone, that if he picks up something from the shelf, and he doesn't want it, then he NEEDS to put it back EXACTLY where he got it from. This was right in front of other customers, and staff. (should have seen their faces) I absolutely CANNOT believe that an employee would ever talk to a customer like that, much less a 15 year old kid. Before I could say anything in defense of my little brother, this big guy was (speed) walking away, when he saw my reaction to his needless comment. If putting items back in the EXACT spot you get them from is this big of an issue, there needs to be a BIG ASS sign saying so, or a sign that says DO NOT TOUCH, as I did not see any signs saying so AT ALL. Also, with as many associates that were standing around the "kiosk" putting an item back on the shelf where it goes, should NOT have been a big issue. When I worked in retail, it was my job to do these things, not seek out the customer who, unknowingly set an item down in the wrong spot. I was, and am still so very, very upset about this experience. Have you ever had to explain to a 15 year old why some people just suck, and have nothing better to do, than go out of their way to be mean, nasty, and rude to other people? He was more upset than I was, as he absolutely loves to shop at Best Buy. Needless to say, we put EVERYTHING we were about to purchase back on the shelves, in the EXACT right spot we got them from, and left this location. We went to Walmart, where they don't charge $600 for a computer with a core i3 processor and 3 GB of RAM. My little brother and I, will not EVER be returning to this location. They never have anything in stock anyways so... not a big deal. There's a lot of other businesses that will take my money and not hassle me, or my family/friends, throughout our shopping experience. By the way, the date I was in this location 1/8/2018, at around 6-6:30pm, if it matters. Maybe someone with the right authority, might read this and take some sort of action, I really doubt it though. It is Best Buy. Have a good day!(sarcasm) read more

I dropped off a laptop that needed a new hard drive. Geek Squad had to send it off because they said they couldn't do the work in the store. A MONTH LATER I got my laptop back and the case was cracked by the tech that took it apart. They returned it to me and said they couldn't get the parts. I said it needed a hard drive that's all it needed. The tech didn't even install a new hard drive. They just returned my laptop after breaking it and keeping it for a month. I took my computer apart myself and replaced the hard drive and repaired the damaged case with epoxy. My laptop is working great now. Just like new except I can't close the screen or I risk cracking the epoxy that is holding the screen on. I completed a survey and asked for someone to call me back. I got a call the next day. When I told him the laptop was in a worse condition than when I dropped it off, he said he would see what he could do and call me back. I waited another month and still no call back. When I called they told me there was nothing they could do because I took the laptop apart myself. THEY WERE THE ONES THAT TOLD ME THE CASE WAS CRACKED! I just sent it in for a new hard drive. I bought 4 computers from Best Buy and 2 have extended warrantees on them currently. Because of this terrible service, I will never buy ANYTHING from them again. I will not do business with anyone that refuses to treat their customers fairly! read more
