I tried to get my screen protector swapped out and I needed help finding a new one, so we asked an employee ( VI ) to help us.. she argued with me on how I never purchased a privacy screen before because of the price was so low. Appears BESTBUY continues it's Down-Hill Trend for very Poor Customer Service Experience and product Knowledgeable people, over the Last few years and most notably since Covid-19. Perhaps you're Hiring the Wrong People, maybe it's a Managerial related Issue(s) and/or Not paying enough for good Quality People (or All of the Above?)? I am a FAA Certified UAS Published Commercial Pilot and very Tech. Savvy. I went to your West Lansing, MI store a few days ago (about 2:45pm local time), to ask/talk about 3-axis Camera/Phone Gimbals (since I was in the neighborhood). I went to the appropriate Dept. (cameras), the store was Not very Busy (employees standing around, talking, etc.). Seeing, You people have Only 2 Phone Gimbals (both DJI, 1 small cheap 1 and the OM 4 (not the newest, OM 5)) on display (although your Website has several types and different brands) - Can't expect to sell many if you Don't have much of a Display, Inventory, Competitive Pricing and knowledgeable (trained) people on them! I Waited 17 Minutes and no one came over to me (frustrating). I went up to another Dept and had to ask to send someone over to me about Gimbals (I specifically asked for some that is familiar with them and/or uses them). I Waited about another 12 Minutes (about to walk Out) and then came over a young man. I asked some specific Questions (some basic, some detailed/harder questions). He said He has some Experience and Knowledge with them, He Didn't have a clue what I was talking about, so I could see, he just went Online to try to Answer my questions about Gimbals, Compatibility, and APPs to use, etc. I have gone Online my self and I didn't want to stand there while your Employee(s) just go online to find answers while I wait for him to do that and hopefully find the answer(s)! I thanked him and moved on. Also, the young man said, this store doesn't have the inventory or the people experienced on the Gimbals as the East Lansing (Okemos), MI store does (No Excuse!). Today (Saturday), I was over buy your East Lansing, MI Okemos store, so I went in, hoping to get a more Knowledgeable person about Gimbals. Went to the Dept/Section (again, store Not very busy (what does that tell you?), about 3:10pm local time) and again waited about 15 Minutes and No one came over to help me. I went up to the Front desk (entrance security booth) and asked for someone that Knows Gimbals, etc (young man said OK). Went back to the Dept. and Waited another 10 Minutes, finally someone across the aisle (from the TV section) came over. Asked specific questions again about Gimbals, Compatibility, and about best Gimbal capture/feature APPs to use with. Again only 2 Gimbals on display. This man didn't know what I was talking about and didn't have answers. Another young man came over (I had seen, they had been working together in the TV section). I asked him how Knowledgeable he is about these things and said he had briefly used them, etc. So, I asked away and started a conversation, he Could NOT really answer my questions either (I didn't think they were Difficult, especially if you have used phone Gimbals and had some experience with them, etc). He again got on the Internet, to find some answers as well! Also, he tried to pass me some False/Inaccurate Info. I already researched the correct answer(s) about Gimbals to try to convince me that he HAS Some Knowledge/Experience, He Did NOT. I asked if I could talk to someone else please (with perhaps more experience), he said there is Not - what a "WASTE OF MY TIME"! I did ask him about his knowledge about other brand names (different brands/models Not on your floor but on your Website), he said to me, We only have knowledge of what we sell. Well, you sell a few different Brands/Models Online - I Didn't "Buy That" (Not convincing, explanation and moved on (FYI: I was Only asking Questions about the Gimbals you do sell Instore/Online). Why do you put people on your Product Floor (Departments) that are Not Knowledgeable about the Product you Sell/Display and/or can't answer questions about the products? Most (not all) your people in your Depts. are Not salespeople (associates) they seem to be just "Clerks". If I wanted to just talk to Clerks, I would go to Walmart - you are suppose to be a Tech. store; that said, don't you have some sort of Training (consistently) to your employees about product (s) you sell, etc and maybe encourage/motivate your people to gather specific Industry Info., etc beyond what BestBuy offers? Your Customer Service in YOUR Stores is Terrible, what's happened to you people, what's happened to BESTBUY, been going Down Hill in your stores now for the las few years. My Customer Experience has Not been a Good One at All (Have had Other issues with them and Refund issues, in the past, but won't get into that here). Upon walking in, it was demanded that I wear a mask. I advised of my medical condition, and the greeter told me I would not be able to come into the store. No reasonable accommodation was offered at all. I was simply denied entry against ADA policy. I put a mask on and wore it beneath my nose so I could breathe. I was harassed the entire time about it. Not a single employee in the store was friendly. Also, their prices are extremely high, despite most of the products being manufactured in china and set to break after a short amount of time. I brought my computer in for repair. I have a 3 year service plan. It turns out that it just needed a new part that they said would arrive in about 5 days. When it did not arrive, I called the store (had to wait on hold 15 minutes, got routed to a national call center who then had to reroute me back to the store). I spoke with the Geek Squad about my part and was told that they do not handle this and that it goes to someplace called the "parts store", but he would check on it. Turns out, the part is back ordered for another 2 1/2 weeks. No one bothered to contact me to let me know this. The only reason that I gave this 2 stars instead of one is because they did end up offering to let me come borrow one of their cords until mine comes in. I haven't been there to pick it up yet, so I don't know if it will really happen or not, but I am going to try. I took the computer in and was told it would need to be sent out and we would have it back in a week or two. Today it has been two weeks so I called to check on it and no one actually knows where the computer is. You are told when you purchase the geek squad if they can not fox it in the store it will be replaced totally not true. The manager John would not even look us in the face or barely speak to us. They said they needed to contact their service center but could only do so by email and that would take 24 hours to hear back and they could not contact them by telephone. We left with no resolution. Regular Best Buy shopper here, usually have no problems with this store. But the nonexistent customer service I experienced on Dec 22 was inexcusable. Shopping for a washing machine, guaranteed sale 'cuz dad's buying, it's my x-mas gift. Most of the machines I wanted to inquire about had no prices on them or in them. Could not tell how much $. I spent 10-15 min. ALONE in the appliance section. Completely alone. Nobody checked on me, not one soul. I am not invisible. I am a large woman in a bright green coat. WTF, Best Buy? Is everybody so busy selling $15 computer games that you're too busy to sell a $500 washer? So I leave appliances and go to audio, looking for a gift. I politely wait for the sales lady to finish with a customer to ask a question. She never made eye contact with me. When I asked my question in a friendly manner, she walked away from me. Turned her back and left me. I thought I heard her say "Mmm-hmm" as in "yes," but was not sure. So I said "I'm sorry?" Meaning "I didn't hear you." And she snaps "Yes!" While STILL facing away from me. WTF BITCH?! I immediately turned on my heel and left the store. I went straight to a different store and bought all the things I wanted for $490. This is a mid-sized location with exactly what you would expect at BB. Nothing fancy just tons of electronics. The problem is the clerks at BB really don't know much, so if you want answers to your questions that aren't just a bunch of marketing indoctrination do your own research online and then go to BB to pick up what you need. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! I purchased a sound bar on Bestbuy.com that was open box. The condition stated "excellent" and that there were no missing accessories. When I went to set it up, I realized that it was missing the power cord and the optical cable. I thought, no big deal, I'll just return it to the store and they will give me the missing accessories. That is NOT what happened. The customer service cashier said he could not help me and that I would have to get on Google to replace the missing equipment. I asked to speak to a manager (Justin at the Lansing, MI location). Justin told me the same thing. I asked him if they stand by their products and he replied, "well you didn't buy it at this store, you purchased it online". WHAT!!!??? I asked why that would make a difference considering it is all affiliated to the same corporation. He still insisted that there was nothing he could do for me. I told him I wanted a refund then. He told me he wouldn't give me a refund either because there are missing parts. ARE YOU JOKING???!!! I have never had such horrible customer service. I will NEVER buy anything online or in a Best Buy store again. They must be so desperate for managers that they are pulling stock boys out of the warehouse to manage their stores!! read more

With not having the capability to play my ipod in my car, I went to Best Buy to see what my options were of course taking into consideration price and sound quality. I spoke with a floor salesman (people in the blue shirts- who obviously only have little training on only the basics) and he stated that my best option was to purchase an FM Modulator to install in my car. Per my understanding I would have much better sound quality and for a 'slight' price increase than a traditional FM transmittor would not have the pain of changing the FM station when traveling to play the ipod through the radio. I was pleased with the initial install, fast and friendly. Once I left and was driving around playing with this fun new gadget, I discovered that there was a prominent white noise in the background of the music. I played with the stereo and ipod settings to try my best to change this, but with no success gave up and switched to the radio. To my surprise, while driving to Detroit one day, I pressed the scan button on the radio and it scanned through all the stations never stopping at one. I was furious. Once back in Lansing I realized the programmed radio stations had static on every one, when prior the installation of the modulator, my radio stations always came in crisp and clear. I decided it was time to take action... I called Best Buy to see if I could speak with a car audio installer (not a blue shirt salesman) to see if this was a common problem. The 20-something young man on the other end stated that I was unable to directly speak with anyone in that department, but that I would have to instead come in and see if I could schedule an appointment to have them look at my car. I clearly stated that I was not going to waste my time coming into the store if there was no one to assist me that day. He kindly obliged after a few minutes of arguing and I was transferred to the car audio department. The installer I spoke with just told me to come in and he would see what he could do. Coming into the store the installer and a floor salesman where standing around shooting the shit as I walked up to them, they ignored me until I made it apparent I was the 'unhappy customer'. Once I pulled my car into the garage he stated that this is a common problem and there was nothing that could be 'fixed'. He told me he could uninstall the hardware but the $49.99 installation fee was non-refundable. I asked him what my other options were to listen to my ipod in my car. He stated the obvious of me having a cassette player in my vehicle (which is odd, since most vehicles made after 1999 don't bother with the cassettes and my vehicle was made in 2006). He told me that the cassette adapter has better sound quality and is less expensive than the modulator ($20.00 vs $150.00). At this point I was VERY upset, knowing that some 'sales guy' didn't ask all the right questions and because of assumptions I was out $49.99 for the non-refundable installation cost. Once he saw how aggravated I was, he offered to fully refund all parts and give me a cassette adapter for free. So essentially I lost out on $30 and learned a valuable lesson... don't trust the guys in the blue shirts! Do your research prior to shopping at Best Buy. read more

This place is honestly just the worst place of business ever. In June of 2011, we bought a very large and very expensive Samsung TV, which we selected over the others based mostly on the salesman's hype about it being able to access the Internet (Youtube, Netflix,etc.) After going home and setting it up and spending 2 hours trying to connect to the Internet, we finally gave up and went back to the store where they were surprised that we didn't purchase the extra accessory that actually connects the TV to the Internet that only costs $150!!! Funny the sales guy never mentioned that during the hour and a half we spent at the store trying to decide. Fast forward two years. This month, I went in explaining to the mobile store guy that I wanted to switch from ATT to Verizon, but I wanted the HTC One, and asked how long until Verizon started offering that phone. The guy told me Verizon wasn't getting the One, I told him I was quite sure they were, and so he got his manager and the manager told me convincingly, and condescendingly, that Verizon was never getting the One. It is 3 days later. Verizon just announced they are getting the One. Talk about not knowing your product. Most egregiously, my boyfriend spent more than an hour trying to decide which computer to buy last weekend. He couldn't decide between the $800 version or the $1000 version. He finally settled on the $1000 version, and when he got home and opened the box they had given him the $800 version. So he went back to the store, and it took them forever to figure out what had happened. He had to stay even after the store closed, and they finally figured out they had the wrong prices on the display the entire time. How the guy never noticed this after trying to sell a computer for an hour is beyond me. They also told him Microsoft Office was included but when he got on the computer it wasn't. Hmm.... I used to think Best Buy employees were just not well-educated about their products, or didn't care, but now I believe they intentionally mislead and rip you off. I will not be shopping there again. And I will get my HTC One at the Verizon store! read more

Ordered a $500 product online for in-store pickup. Received email confirmation that it was in stock and would be ready for pickup that day. Continued to check status online and it showed it was preparing the item for pickup. I expected to be able to pick it up that day. Called the next morning to see what was going on - was told it was "in process," they were busy, and there was nothing they could do. I asked if someone could physically go check to see if the item was in inventory so I knew if I needed to make alternate plans and order from somewhere else, and she said no. Later that day, I drove the 25 minutes to the store to attempt to pick it up. She searched the store and came back and casually said it was not available ... when I asked how this could be possible when I had ordered and received confirmation that it was in stock, she shrugged and said sometimes the online system is wrong. No apology. No offer to do anything to make this right or retain me as a customer. I am an 80% online shopper, but when I have a big purchase I sometimes attempt to support the local stores. No more - never shopping at Best Buy again, I'm all Amazon from here on out. Customer service is real folks - If a mistake is made, own up to it, apologize and attempt to make the customer feel that the store cares and actually wants my $500. If I'm treated like I don't matter and the mistake was not Best Buy's fault, and no one cares, I'm out. I'm loyal to where customer service is excellent and that's Amazon. read more

Got the replacement phone today which was sent without a battery. So I brought the phone to Best Buy. I bought a very expensive Samsung washer and dryer set from this Best Buy back in November. About a month or two after they were installed, the washer started acting up. Eventually, we had to have a repairman come work on it, and he determined that it wasn't repairable. He said we needed to contact Samsung for a replacement. However, in order to get the replacement, we needed our original receipt - which we had lost because we moved about the time that we had purchased the units. I contacted Zach (who had sold me the units six months earlier), and, to my complete surprise, he was willing to go back into my records, and dig up the receipt for me. If he hadn't done that, we would be stuck with a lemon. And we live in a different state, so he could have very easily ignored my request as people sometimes do. But he went over and above the call of duty to make sure that we were taken care of, and that level of customer service has made hard-core Best Buy fans out of my family! We'll always look at Best Buy first when shopping for appliances now. And Lansing Best Buy - I don't know how much you're paying Zach W., but it's not enough! I took my computer to Best Buy Geek Squad for having WiFi connectivity issues. They charged $150 up front to look at the computer, which was fine, I needed it repaired. The repair was done the same day, which was impressive. When I picked it up, the Geek Squad said the WiFi issue was a duplication of firewalls and was fixed in less than 5 minutes. However, after they fixed the WiFi, they decided to "tune-up" the laptop - without every asking me. The tune-up removed 144 pieces of "malicious" software. I was not happy knowing that the malicious software was probably there for a reason, but they showed me that the WiFi worked and I took it home. At home, I found out that the malicious software was my MS Excel Save as PDF function, MS Outlook indexing function, one of my large MS Excel spreadsheet was no longer there (although the icon was, I got an error message when I clicked on it), all of my print drivers where gone, and they removed my virus scanner and didn't tell me. As I spent my time to resolve all of these issues myself, I called the 24/7 Geek Squad assistance, which didn't work since the store and online Geek Squad do not support each other (one of the reasons I went to Geek Squad was to have dual support) - the online service said they would help, but I would have to pay them separately and, even if they could, they can't see what the store did as they don't share systems. I would be very careful taking anything to Geek Squad as you may not get a usable system back and their follow-up support is terrible. Be warned... read more
