He spent 15 minutes discussing possible causes, pricing and options - which was a pleasant surprise. Most places will simply tell you that they can fix any problem you have and just bring your PC to them. So after more research I was able to recover data from my PC much to my relief, even though it still doesn't boot up properly. I spoke with Jim again today and explained what I'd done. He advised me that my options were to either buy a new PC or spend $175 to reinstall Windows. Considering my PC is 9 years old, I'll opt to buy a new one. And the best part of the whole experience was that Jim actually gave me some advice on what to look for in a new PC. Even though I never had Jim fix my PC, I'm really glad that I spoke with him. He's a class act and I appreciate him taking time to help me even though he wasn't getting paid. Needless to say if I ever have PC issues in the future I'll call Jim.

Please keep in mind this is a private business owned by one man. He is very kind and flexible. I received an over the phone diagnosis prior to entering his shop, albeit it was pretty simple (I needed a windows reinstall) He promised three day turnaround and it was true. He promised update calls and it was true. The value of the service was better than any corporation and the discounts he applies are very appreciative. If my computer becomes compromised or damaged I will always return to him.

    I found this business off Yelp and with the high star rating I was pretty excited. I contacted the…read moreowner through Yelp, but when I didn't hear from him I called on my way to the store. Turns out the "store" is an office in his home. I needed to have the files transferred from my desktop computer that had burned out its power source to a portable hard drive. The owner, Jim, was able to see me quickly and triage the issue I was having with my ancient desktop. He offered to transfer the data to a flash drive, but I needed to buy a hard drive in the end because there was way more data than I thought. His work was quick, his price was very fair, and I got everything I needed off the original hard drive. Working with him, however, was a very strange experience and he definitely typifies the quintessential "IT" guy. Awkward and not very consistent. I kept seeing signs for "appointment only" at his home and but not on Yelp. When I spoke with Jim he stated that he normally works by appointment. But the hours sign outside his office say M-F 9-5. Ok, strange thing 1. Weird thing #2; every time I tried to actually set an appt., he would simply say "just call me". Even when I tried to REQUEST an appt., he said just call him. So I did and he set an expectation of having the files transferred within an hour. So I took an hour and a half and the files still weren't done. He said it would take another hour and to "just call him". I don't have all day to sit around and keep calling my vendor. That's not what you pay a professional for. Would I use his services again?     Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had at a Verizon store…read more I went this weekend to try to get my phone upgraded or replaced because of a cracked screen (which they couldn't do because of the restructure of financing plans - but, that is outside the scope of this post). I went Saturday morning and they were under-staffed. I worked with a blonde woman for about an hour. It was very clear that she had no idea what she was doing. She sold me a new phone but was having issues with the computer so she called her manager (who had taken the day off) in front of me, where she sassed him and gave him a hard time. It was literally right in front of me and was astonishingly unprofessional. After an hour, she told me she actually couldn't give me the new phone and took it back. When I got home, I realized that my original phone had completely stopped working and had been disconnected (she clearly didn't reactivate my phone). A couple hours later, I return to the store with my husband to have them fix the phone. The woman acted like it was an inconvenience to her that she had to deal with a problem that she had done. She spent an additional twenty minutes (and numerous phone calls to her manager) trying to figure why the 10 new SIM cards she had tried in my phone weren't working. Finally, the other rep walked over to her work station, looking down, and goes "you're using non-iphone SIM cards." I wish he had just helped me in the first place, he was clearly more competent and this would've never happened in the first place. After an hour, she finally got my phone back to working how it did before I had come in originally. She wasn't even apologetic for wasting four hours of my time. Furthermore, when I was being helped the first time, an older gentleman came into the store saying that he did an update to his phone and it had stopped working. She actually just told him she couldn't help him (not even suggesting taking into the Apple or anything) and turned away. The poor guy had no idea what to do. I doubt she'll be there long but I would say go to a different Verizon store if you can :(
