UPDATED: Aug 19, 2024 Rod reached out to me over the phone and we discussed my experience. We had agreed to provide me with a price match with the quotes from the other auto service companies. He explained that the other companies' prices may not reflect an engine scan which can mean there may be issues with the car after the recharge. He also mentioned that he did not charge for a scan and bundled the diagnostic & repair costs. Ultimately, he said he cares about his clients being happy with the service. I am happy with the service, as there were no issues there. I appreciate Rod taking the time to reach out and alleviate my concerns with the pricing. ---- TLDR: I GOT SCAMMED. Got charged over 2x the normal price for a simple AC fix. BEWARE if you're a woman as they try to take advantage of you hoping you don't know much about cars. VERDICT: Definitely not coming back. I went in to get my AC fixed as it was no longer blowing cool air. Service was friendly and pleasant with Rob always smiling and the employee working on my car walking me through what he found was wrong. The employee told me it's a super simple and common issue: a leak in my AC because my Schrader valve was worn down and the Schrader valve was $10. I was then charged $511 for a half an hour service fix with additional charges for services that were not necessary (ex. Engine scan) and charged me the premium refrigerant when my vehicle is a 2015 Mazda CX5 and definitely did not need that. It just needs a R-134a refrigerant. I was only aware that I got scammed when I told my partner how much the repair costs and he didn't believe me at first. He then helped me call multiple auto service companies about what it would cost to replace my Schrader valve and recharge my AC with an R-134a refrigerant. All other place's quotes ranged from $175-$250. My partner also asked if an engine scan would be necessary, how much they would charge for diagnostic and repair, the A/C valve, and shop supplies. They all said those would not even be charged because this is such a simple fix and issue. They also all mentioned that an engine scan was not necessary considering the concern was just about the AC. Sure. Rob was friendly and "transparent" about the quote walking me through each line item, but he took advantage of me hoping that I wouldn't know what the typical costs and service would cost, or what things were actually needed vs additional charges. I had e-transfered him the amount so I couldn't even get my money back. Very disappointed in Rob and wish I had known earlier about what I know now. Shady. I called last night and said I would buy a specific vehicle. This morning, the finance guy accepts all of my personal information - pay stubs, ID etc. then tells me that he needs to use a sub-prime lender because of the age of the vehicle. I tell him that's non-sense - I'm putting more than 1/2 down and have amazing credit. If that's the case, I'll just put it on my line of credit and want to pick the vehicle up tomorrow - provided him with line of credit info. Suddenly, they aren't going to process it because they have a deposit on the truck?!?! They're trying to force you in to their sub-prime lender(s) to make more money. read more

Not a positive purchase experience. Such a stereotypical used car buying experience. Just stay away from this dealership. I purchased an suv in January 2017 from Best Buy Auto Direct. Salesman/Owner Rod seemed like a nice enough guy; though ultimately the vehicle purchased turned out to be a lemon. Given the number of problems I've had in the first month of ownership-I wouldn't recommend purchasing from this dealership. I suspect their mechanic reset any diagnostic problems - knowing they wouldn't show up for a couple hundred kilometers-long after the vehicle has been sold. Despite me sending a on-site mechanic to conduct an inspection - the mechanic was not allowed to road test or allowed to get underneath the vehicle to do a thorough inspection. The dealership is not cooperative with third-party mechanical inspections. The dealership cited a hired mechanic would be noninsurable for a test drive. I'm calling BS on this. This should be the first red flag warning buyers to beware. When it came to my trade-in - the dealership was demeaning towards the value of my vehicle - citing they wouldn't be able to sell it and would only be able to sell it at an auction for a loss. Ultimately negotiating a lower trade in price. The day after the deal - the vehicle I traded in was on the company website for a tremendously inflated price - 5K above the trade in price. Best Buy Auto Direct cites including a short term - three month warranty with the vehicles they sell. Though - I have to suspect they have no way of honouring this sort of warranty given the level of defects I encountered with my purchase. It would've cost them thousands to cover the problems I'm having. Perhaps regretfully, I passed on the warranty to knock a few hundred additional dollars off the vehicle price. As I said - I do not believe there is any means they would have realistically honoured repairing the extent of issues of the vehicle. When a dealership is much too eager to sell a vehicle "as is" - this is yet another red flag. Sales tactics at this lot in hindsight were all too stereotypical of used car dealerships. Don't even bother. Ultimately - the lack of thoroughness in the purchase final purchase and the defects rests on the shoulders of the consumers research or lack therof. At the end of the day - it's often not worth purchasing a vehicle out of warranty. Though if you do purchase a vehicle which is out of warranty. Negotiate a lower purchase price to offset the costs of repairs in the first month or two of ownership. Well just wanted to say that we were treated pretty good here at the start and just like all the rest their intentions fell threw. My friend was looking for a jeep so we had her buy their 09 Jeep Compass nice jeep by the way she really loves it but here where is goes wrong you tell me if this is a warranty or if this is the way they should do business....The catalytic converter apparently shot so it is in the shop they approved for her warranty work by the way it has only been 2 weeks she has owned this jeep and now she has to pay for some of the repairs her self like I said she has only owned the jeep less then a month....and she has to pay out of pocket for the repairs this to me is no warranty I am very disappointed in the way they follow threw in there policy. I was in there today to talk with them as I was the one who found this Jeep for our friend and I am very disappointed on how I was just blown off all he said was well we are covering 1700 and they have to pay 300 but the fact is it has been only 2 weeks and they gave a 6 month warranty but is this really a warranty to me the repairs are done at no cost to the customer but this dealership is charging the customer for repairs so. I feel bad for our friend as she now has to pay more money for a vehicle she just purchased with a 6 month warranty. You tell me this is right ? I know it is not as I know what a warranty really is. I will probly never recommend this place to my friends and will be sharing my experience with everyone I know and all over FB and probly will send this complaint to the BBB.
