Princess Auto - hydraulics department

Although Princess Auto is obviously an equal opportunity employer, I have a tendency to think of…read morethis place as 'A Guy Store'. Having said that, I intend to send my husband here, because I would LOVE a new meat grinder or bone saw for Christmas. This store holds all kinds of things that aren't vehicle related. They carry a lot of tools, work accessories, hunting supplies, cooking gear, camping supplies, sausage making and barbecuing spices and marinades, plus heating and cooling units. All at what looks like decent prices. I like to come here for stocking stuffers for my husband. Today I picked up bungie cords, gas-line anti-freeze, a battery powered camp light with compass, portable screen cleaner, hand warmers, and a waterproof cord connection protector. The selection of various anythings is HUGE. This place can be a little overwhelming, but if you can't find something, go ahead and ask someone. They're good that way. BUYER BEWARE: Some of this stuff is made in China and if it's too cheap, check the label. Some of it isn't worth the plastic it's packaged in.

We go to Princess Auto as they always have what we are looking for and then they carry to parts to fix all our equipment. We are a small farm and a campground/Eco Village that always needs lots of parts and equipment so Princess Auto is our go to store. Thank you for being so easy to deal with and I agree with other reviews that it is 10 times better than Canadian Tire.

Crosstown Chrysler Jeep Dodge

My experience was great, and I'm still feeling a sense of relief from dealing with them…read more Backstory: I bought a used 2009 Dodge Journey from somewhere else. It runs great, but the only keyfob is useless. It still works in the ignition, but doesn't lock or unlock my doors. So I need to use the actual key, and it makes the alarm go off Every. Damned. Time. Even with a brand new battery. So I bought a new fob off the internet. I spoke to a mechanic I trust, and he told me it might be expensive to get it programmed. He recommended a nearby dealership, but they never answered my email. I don't remember how I found Crosstown--I think I googled 'West Edmonton Dodge keyfobs' or something like that. I hadn't even considered Crosstown before then. Aidan answered my e-mail the next morning, answered all my questions, gave me a flat fee (plus taxes) so I made an appointment. I'd been given the impression from other people that a replacement keyfob was REALLY expensive. Maybe 'expensive' is a relative term. I have no previous experience with keyfobs. Having never been there before. I found a parking spot and walked around. A nice woman on her break asked me if I needed help. She told me exactly where I needed to go and what to do. The fellow I worked with was lovely and professional, answered all my questions and advised me that if my internet ordered fob doesn't work, I'll still have to pay the fee. Oops...but yes, they can't be held responsible for any faulty crap ordered off the internet, right? I accepted. I suppose I expected a song and dance. I expected him to 'find' things that needed to be done, and maybe some high pressure sales. I had my hackles up a bit. He asked me if there was anything else I needed done, but that was all. He promised it would be over in an hour. Their waiting area has comfortable chairs and even a little cafe. I could have grabbed a pop or a pastry if I wanted, but as promised, my mechanic was back in precisely an hour. It worked! My keyfob from the internet worked just fine. And did I need any other work done since I'm already there? No pressure, just my bill is fine. I'm already thinking I'd like a spare, since the first fob is so useless. Now I know where I can get one in an hour. I'll probably be back.

Dont buy a used vehicle from here!! they are very dishonest. I tested a mini van and my kids opened…read morethe very back windows. I bought the car. They took a day to 'get it ready' and after a few months of owning it, priced the back windows didn't open. I mentioned it to a mechanic (not at Crosstown) and they said the parts were gone - not broken, GONE. they stripped it for parts before giving it to me after I bought it. now I wonder what else was taken or swapped. DONT GO hERE!!!

The bottom 2 reviews are all that I had to go on when I was looking for work done to my car so here it goes. In April of 2013, I needed an out of province inspection done to my 2006 Audi A3. Moving from Toronto I figure this shop will do since it's close to work. By virtue of not knowing any better of how this program works here in Alberta, I was needless to say taken advantage of. They charged $130 for the inspection and got back to me with a rap sheet of $2000 worth of repairs required to pass as follows; 1. Daylight running light 2. Wheel bearings needed to be replaced 3. CV Boot needed to be replaced on both front axles I wouldn't have a problem doing #1 myself since all I had to do was use my VAG-COM tool to activate the fog lights as my daylight running lights. Alas, this I feel was utter nonsense that they spent 3.5 shop hours ($800 including equipment needed from what memory recalls) installing a relay harness to activate my headlamps as the DRL when all they needed to do was use their VAG-COM tool to activate the fog lights as the DRL. #2 I really don't have much of issue with since they needed to be replaced but to charge me $500 for this. ON top of that they quoted me $1,800 initially but added a couple more hours because of farting around to bring my total above $2,000 to take me for an even bigger ride. #3 Total nonsense they had to change this out entirely as it does not facilitate any safety issue. So we are at $1,500 now, they charged me $500 because they felt like it and called it a day because they ran out of other areas to nit pick on. CONSUMERS, if you are new to ALBERTA...do not go here for an out of province inspection. They will see you as a DOLLAR sign to line their pockets because of this loophole in the system that allows them to use the out of province inspection as a tool to extort money from you simply because, you need to pass it to be able to register your car here. I brought this complaint up with the Better Business Bureau and City of Edmonton to no avail. If you want to get an out of province inspection done, look up INSPECTORS on the south side. I took my 2008 Mercedes R320 there that I bought from Montreal, they charge $240 for the inspection but they keep it honest. My rear brakes were less than 40% worn and they still passed it. Had I taken it here, they would have charged me $1000 to replace the brakes and god knows what other nonsense they can come up with. To me honesty and accountability is what matters most, if you take your car here for an inspection, GET A SECOND OPINION. Get as many opinions until you find a shop that will pass your car without any nonsense. Don't settle for their outrageous and dubious charges.
