I regretted having to get to this point and feeling like my team let me down by being so disorganized, unprepared, after so long of gathering my information. We trusted them and they just added another month of fees for themselves without fully preparing. I had asked them what can i do to prepare for the case and they told me it would be fine. But when the judge asked me questions i was so nervous I forgot a lot of things. They could have prepared ME better too.

This means going without medication for two weeks, despite having been on the exact same prescription consistently for the past 6 months. Situations like this can lead to withdrawal symptoms and negatively impact a patient's well-being. I expected better continuity of care especially from a Psychiatric Facility. Our high-functioning autistic adult was trapped in severe, debilitating anxiety for years. At the…read morestart of therapy he was on two antipsychotics and two mood stabilizers at the same time--just to function. We had already spent more than a decade (and hundreds of thousands of dollars) cycling through countless therapists, psychiatrists, and programs all over Los Angeles with no lasting improvement. What made us reach out to Steve Kassel was his past experience with high-functioning autism combined with his expertise in EMDR and other brain-based, biologically informed therapies. The results were nothing short of miraculous. Over the course of treatment, the crushing, debilitating anxiety gradually lifted and, astonishingly, completely disappeared. What's more, we were even able to safely taper and eventually discontinue every single medication--something we never thought possible. Mr. Kassel wasn't just effective; he was the first and only mental health professional who was able to connect with our individual. We genuinely believe Steve Kassel is a gift to individuals suffering from anxiety. He helped our family member in a way no one else could, and for that we will be forever grateful. We can't recommend Steve highly enough.

I had a 60-minute initial intake appointment on January 15, 2026 and was prescribed Lexapro with instructions to follow up in one month to monitor how the medication was working. Shortly after the visit, I discovered that my insurance had been billed for both a 60-minute psychiatric evaluation and an additional 60-minute psychotherapy session. I did not receive a separate psychotherapy session. When I questioned the billing and asked that the claim be corrected and resubmitted to insurance, the office refused to rebill the claim. Instead, they simply removed the portion I would have owed but kept the insurance payment for the psychotherapy service. Shortly after raising this concern, my follow-up appointment was canceled without any prior notice. When I reached out to confirm my appointment date, I was told it had been canceled and that I needed to find another provider. I was never informed ahead of time, never given formal written notice, and no transition plan or assistance was offered -- despite the fact that I had just started a new psychiatric medication that requires monitoring. It was very clear that my treatment was dropped as a retaliatory response simply because I questioned their billing practices. Patients should be able to ask legitimate questions about billing discrepancies without fear of losing access to care. I also found the front desk staff member, Katherine, to be extremely rude and condescending in her communication. Instead of addressing concerns professionally, the responses felt dismissive and unhelpful. To make matters worse, I have repeatedly requested my medical records from my January 15 visit and still have not received them despite multiple follow-ups. This entire experience has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. In my opinion, this practice seems more concerned about money than providing proper patient care. Because of these concerns, I have reported this situation to my insurance company for potential billing fraud and have also filed a complaint with the Medical Board of California. I would strongly caution anyone considering this provider. A psychiatrist out of all professions! One is supposed to care for patients mental health and well being!

The appointment scheduler started setting up a new patient profile, but midway through, I asked her to let me know what availability they had before we were added as a new patient. She said he could be seen this week, but Dr Vadapalli requires a separate hearing test before the first doctor visit, and if it's not covered by insurance, it can cost $250 to $500 in addition to the visit. I told her that makes no sense to do a hearing test before his ears were cleaned out, instead of after, because I'd want to know if his hearing was affected AFTER any wax buildup was flushed. I said I would agree to a same day hearing test, but wanted it done after the visit, because any wax should be cleaned first, and I'd want to know if we were in network prior. The policy was strict, but only with that doctor, so I asked to make an appointment with another doctor, instead, who wasn't available until next week. As she's completing the patient profile, I started reading through these reviews, so I asked to let me know if we were in network. I gave her our insurance information, and she confirmed we were in network for the doctor visit, but someone else would call me back to let me know if a hearing test would be in network. I asked her if they charged $250 instead of the insurance copayment, and she said they did not. After the new patient profile was completed, and we'd made the appointment, she said I had to give my credit card information. I told her I'd pay the copay when I arrived, but was not leaving my financial info. She said the card was needed to charge a $250 deposit, which would be refunded when insurance paid. I asked why she'd just told me they don't charge $250, only to say they actually do charge $250, and that she'd already confirmed I was in network. She said their policy is strict. I actually would be charged $250, before the visit. I cancelled the appointment. I have no idea how the doctors themselves are, but there are way too many red flags with their billing, and that required hearing test before blocked ears were cleaned.
