I visited York Mills subway station often when I was an undergraduate student at Glendon College. I'd often take the bus to Lawrence station, take the subway up to York mills, and then take the 95 York Mills bus to get to Scarborough. When I had a friend who was in town from Winnipeg, I'd take the subway to York Mills station and then catch the GO bus that got me to Toronto Pearson International Airport. I'm not sure if this route still exists or if you now need to hit the Yorkdale GO bus terminal to get o the airport. This station at the platform level looks the same. It's still a light mint green. It has been that way since I have always remembered this subway station. It's a part of the Yonge-University-Spadina line. These days, it's known as line 1. In the past, you could park across the street, at the northwest corner of Wilson and Yonge. As expected when you're in Toronto, a condominium is being built there, so commuters can't park and take the subway anymore. There are a bunch of buses that you can connect from this station. I've only done the 95 York Mills and 97 Yonge buses in my commuter career. There's still a passenger dropoff and pickup area. I like using it to pick up and drop off friends. I'm glad that this station is still here, along with the GO station next door. (485)

It has one entrance only to the subway, which can get annoying when a train is in the station. Also, the seats are on posts that are tilted forward, meaning it's impossible to lean back and be comfortable. The bus platform is upstairs (but still under a big building, so not outside).

Back in the day, this station was strictly a part of the Yonge-University-Spadina line, which is now line 1. The Sheppard line (line 4) wasn't built. When line 4 had arrived, this station needed a more meaningful name to indicate that it was a hub for lines 1 and 4. So, Sheppard leads because it's the original name on the Yonge line. It's also the namesake of line 4. When I worked at Yonge and Eglinton over a decade ago, I'd travel from Bassarion (line 4) to Sheppard-Yonge station, and then transfer southbound on line 1 to get to Eglinton. During rush hour, when I did this transfer, I always felt like I was a fish swimming upstream because commuters would be coming at me in the opposite direction. I don't miss that part of commuting during rush hour. Commuting during off-peak hours is less stressful! The passport office is near this station. I remember leaving work for a few hours to get my passport renewed. It was convenient taking line 1 to and from this station. It's also convenient that you can get to Yonge Sheppard Centre without going outside. This station is connected to this shopping centre, which helps when the weather isn't the greatest. This station has four floors. I remember accessing levels 3 and 4 the most to switch between lines 1 and 4. There are stairs, escalators, and elevators to get you to all floors. I never used the elevators, but I know that they were wheelchair-accessible. There are bus routes that you can catch from this station. The 97 Yonge and 84 Sheppard West have been around for eons. Due to line 4 being in full force, you catch the 85 Sheppard East bus from Don Mills station. It used to depart from this station when line 4 didn't exist. I haven't been to Yonge Sheppard Centre in ages. When I visit this area these days, I normally drive and figure out where to park. I'm contemplating parking at a TTC lot and coming here by subway instead to change things up. I also like reliving my past commuter life. (500)

The previous terminus (Wilson) has the multiple parking lots and much more parking since it was the previous end of the line just on the other side of the 401 at the much busy Yorkdale complex. Downsview station located at the south east corner of Allen and Sheppard is where Sheppard makes that dramatic detour around the Downsview airport runway near Chesswood. This station does have a north side entrance as well as a kiss and ride pickup area with actual parking spots instead of a rotary type hub like Finch or Kipling. Access to the parking and drop off area is accessible at the access road just east of Allen on the south side of Sheppard and access to just the parking lot is also available on the east side of Allen south of Sheppard. The parking lot at Downsview seems rather small but with room to grow if needed. Now that Downsview will no longer be the terminus station for this leg of line 1 after the extension to Vaughan is complete it's yet to be determined if more parking is even required. The station is has a large surface area for buses on both sides of the bus depot. The bus depot services quite a few bus routes from here: 84 Sheppard West begins west of Sheppard station (at Yonge) along Sheppard and crosses at Allen while remains on Sheppard to Weston road where it loops back around at Bradstock and Rivalda before heading back east. 101 Downsview Park is a very short route that simply goes around the Sheppard hump turns left on John Drury to Carl Hall road into the park. 104 Faywood runs between Downsview and Wilson stations. It takes a route from Wilson from Ansford to Faywood which turns into Wilmington north of Sheppard to Finch Ave, goes west to Dufferin and then turns to Kennard and down to Wilson Heights and then back to Sheppard to Downview station. 105 Dufferin North runs into Vaughan and requires additional fare when north of Steeles avenue. This route runs north on Dufferin and loops at Confederation parkway and then east on Rutherford road before turning back south again. 106 York University runs west along the Sheppard hump and then north on Sentinel road to York University main campus in a clockwise direction meeting The Pond road at six o'clock and Ian Macdonald before turning back to Sentinel going south. 107 Keele North has many variants but for the most part the 107C is the main route which makes its way west along the Sheppard hump through the industrial area near Tuscan Gate toe Keele and then north as far as Teston road in Vaughan. Same as the 105 additional fare is required north of Steeles avenue. 108 Downsview main run 108B runs west on the Sheppard hump to Arleta avenue and up Driftwood north of Finch to Strong Court and then briefly along Jane street before turning right back onto Driftwood again before heading south bound. 117 Alness runs up Allen/Dufferin to a dedicated bus roadway that runs parallel and north of Finch Ave to Alness up to Steeles and bakc down Dufferin. This route around the roadway and Alness runs clockwise before 3pm and counter clockwise after 3pm. As for the train platform it's long and wide with an arched roof. The trains on line 1 of course are wider than the Bloor/Danforth line 2 but the design of this station lends to more space and feels much more open than a majority of the older stations in the TTC system.

Bayview station is on the newest addition of a line that's been a while now however it's a long stretch from the next western station being Sheppard-Yonge. This station has 3 above ground entrances, one at each corner of the intersection with the exception of the south west corner where there's a gas station and no ground level entrance. There's of course Bayview Village mall at the north east corner and has been for years a sort of specialty mall. I exited at the south east entrance and couldn't help but notice that sure they had an elevator but they didn't have an escalator at that entrance/exit. Let me tell you those stairs are long, quite long. I took a photo to explain how long it was and for not having an escalator it seems a bit longer than normal. Besides that the Sheppard line being a creature of Mel Lastman by being supposedly the busiest bus line in the city at the time, the buses still run from Yonge east on the 85. With the exception of Willowdale Ave every subway is a bus stop as well including Bayview along the 85 Sheppard East line which continues east past Don Mills when it becomes a regular bus route again. The 85 which starts at Yonge goes all the way east along Sheppard to the Meadowvale Loop and contines east towards Rouge Hill and Lawrence east. Bessarion station is one of the least busiest in the entire TTC and probably could have been well as a just a bus stop instead of an actual subway station. The 11 Bayview bus route starts from Davisville station on Yonge and goes east along Davisville before turning north along Bayview, passing the Sheppard line and goes all the way to Steeles Ave before turning. Since there is no bus depot at Bayview both bus routes require a transfer for underground to surface switches. Escalators... this isn't the MTA

As far as proximity the two business interchange stations flank Bay station to the east and west (St. George, Bloor-Yonge) and they're not that far from one another. I had to actually use Bay station the other night as it's probably my least used station in the core. Both line 1 on the University or Yonge lines wasn't stopping at either Bloor station (St. George or Bloor-Yonge) due to a police investigation around 11pm on May 24th, 2019. Inconvenient right? It's a bit of a walk from Wellesley to Bay station but it had to be done. The only bus route connecting to this station is a transfer required board which is route 6 (Bay). The top of the route starts at Dupont and Davenport not that far from Casa Loma in fact it's not far from Dupont station. The route travels south along Davenport to Bay and south on Bay all the way to Queens Quay before turning left (east) where it eventually loops around at Lower Sherbourne by the FedEx downtown depot. On the Belair Street side entrance just next door is a business called DECIEM The Abnormal Beauty Company. They want you to know that their business is NOT BAY. It was the Yonge-University-Spadina and Bloor-Danforth lines. You then had the Scarborough LRT (rest in transit peace) and the Sheppard line. As much as I like numbers, I'm putting myself in the shoes of a visitor. Which would be more meaningful? I'm not sure. What I think is that this subway station may feel overwhelming to a newbie. It's always busy. The craziness is at its peak during rush hour. Everyone needs to walk fast and get somewhere. I feel like it's a stampede to a certain extent. As someone who often dropped by this station growing up, it wasn't confusing. I recently took the TTC to get to this station on line 2. It's a shared platform between the eastbound and westbound trains when you arrive on line 2. I had to exit to get onto Bloor Street East. The exit that I'm used to faces Yonge Street. I used to visit the Toronto Reference Library across the street often when I was in high school and university. I used this exit to reminisce. There are a bunch of ways to get in and out of this station. Going home, I entered from Bloor Street East through the Hudson's Bay Centre. I don't really know if that's the correct name of the underground shopping concourse. Hudson's Bay is gone, which is eerie. We have Eaton's Centre without Eaton's. Hey, why not Hudson's Bay Centre without Hudson's Bay? I spent hours walking around the concourse as a student. There used to be a Felix and Norton. It smelled so good. I loved cookies, especially freshly baked ones. I still do! I can still picture the paper transfer dispensers with the red round button. They are long gone. There are lots of PRESTO kiosks and gates instead. One of the gates did not recognize my PRESTO card. Luckily, I moved to a different one and I was fine. Signage is clear to get to the right subway line. There are also TTC employees ready to help you, which I liked. There are four floors to this station. I took a combination of stairs and escalators while I was here to move between two floors. There are elevators for those who need to use them, but I can't comment on how effective they are. Most major TTC subway stations have washrooms. This station does. I have never had the need to use the women's. I arrived at this station at roughly 11:30 am on a Monday. I left the area roughly 2.5 hours later. Trains were running on time. I managed to get a seat both ways. It was a good time to be a commuter. My cell phone worked fine on the platform. It was cool. It was nice returning to this station. I grew up as a commuter living in the Beaches. It was nice to return to those roots for a brief period before I got to Victoria Park station, hopped in my car, and headed to the suburbs. (40)

It was full, mainly because it has reserved a number of spot for electric-charging vehicles. Instead, I parked on Broadview Avenue. I walked to the venue and passed by Broadview subway station twice. I have a lot of good memories of Broadview station. I used to live in the Beaches. My mom and I would often go grocery shopping on Sundays at the Chinatown at Broadview and Gerrard. We'd either take take the 501-504 streetcar combination to get there, or do the Main 64 bus to Main Street station, take the subway to Broadview, and then hop on the 504 or 505 streetcar heading south. I also took Cantonese classes in Chinatown. These routes were the norm for me on Saturdays. I then moved to taking Cantonese on Saturdays for high school credit. This school was near Spadina and Dundas Street West in the other Chinatown. I'd often take the 505 streetcar to Broadview, and take the subway and bus home. This station has been pretty meaningful in my younger days. I also ended up taking a number of bus routes that come in and out of this subways station. I had physical therapy appointments when I was an undergraduate student. The clinic was at Don Mills and Eglinton. The 100 Flemingdon Park bus got me right to the door. If I missed it, the 25 Don Mills bus was a good alternative, but I had a bit of walking to do. If I didn't feel like taking the subway between Broadview and Main Street, and I had time to kill, I'd take the 62 Mortimer bus. I kind of miss taking a bus because I was curious and had nothing better to do. I drive these days, so I don't have that opportunity. The subway entrance faces west on Broadview Avenue. I remember that this station has three levels with an elevator. It's wheelchair-accessible. I haven't been commuting on the TTC in ages. I really should ride public transit more, but I'm a suburb person these days. It's more convenient for me to drive or it would take me hours to get to and from home. It was nice to reminisce about countless visits to this subway station. I'm glad that it's still around. (196)
