This is the Go and UP Express station at Weston Road, near Jane St. Both GO and UP services operate…read morefrom here with two separate platforms for each train. The station was recently renovated and updated for the UP Express, which is now much less expensive than before. I take the UP downtown and back every day now because the price dropped enough to make it competitive with other, lesser transit options. It's frequent (every 15 minutes), costs $5.02 to get downtown, has ample seating, and free Wifi! The new station platforms have an indoor area that is heated in winter and lots of Presto tap pads so that you can tap on and off before and after your journey. Just remember to use the same type of tap pad at the start and end of your trip. There are silver ones for airport passengers and green ones for regular GO passengers. You can use the green ones on the UP Express as long as you're not going to the airport. Careful: if you tap a silver one at the start of your trip and a green one at the end (or vice versa) you'll be charged a really high maximum fare! The station also now has two parking lots with free parking and some reserved parking. Even so, this station is one star short of perfect because it needs even more parking. There are some mornings where, even when I arrive really early, there are not enough parking spots. That said, that's a minor issue. The new station is beautiful and the UP Express is fantastic!

I really enjoy taking the UP express to and from the airport. It's convenient for me. Free wifi and…read moreclean.

Tip: This station is a hub for lines 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina) and 4 (Sheppard)…read more Sheppard-Yonge station. What's in a name? The original name of this station was Sheppard station. Back in the day, this station was strictly a part of the Yonge-University-Spadina line, which is now line 1. The Sheppard line (line 4) wasn't built. When line 4 had arrived, this station needed a more meaningful name to indicate that it was a hub for lines 1 and 4. So, Sheppard leads because it's the original name on the Yonge line. It's also the namesake of line 4. When I worked at Yonge and Eglinton over a decade ago, I'd travel from Bassarion (line 4) to Sheppard-Yonge station, and then transfer southbound on line 1 to get to Eglinton. During rush hour, when I did this transfer, I always felt like I was a fish swimming upstream because commuters would be coming at me in the opposite direction. I don't miss that part of commuting during rush hour. Commuting during off-peak hours is less stressful! The passport office is near this station. I remember leaving work for a few hours to get my passport renewed. It was convenient taking line 1 to and from this station. It's also convenient that you can get to Yonge Sheppard Centre without going outside. This station is connected to this shopping centre, which helps when the weather isn't the greatest. This station has four floors. I remember accessing levels 3 and 4 the most to switch between lines 1 and 4. There are stairs, escalators, and elevators to get you to all floors. I never used the elevators, but I know that they were wheelchair-accessible. There are bus routes that you can catch from this station. The 97 Yonge and 84 Sheppard West have been around for eons. Due to line 4 being in full force, you catch the 85 Sheppard East bus from Don Mills station. It used to depart from this station when line 4 didn't exist. I haven't been to Yonge Sheppard Centre in ages. When I visit this area these days, I normally drive and figure out where to park. I'm contemplating parking at a TTC lot and coming here by subway instead to change things up. I also like reliving my past commuter life. (500)

One of the unique features about this station is that it's connected to GO Transit, which is faster and more convenient. In some instances, it can be cheaper as well. For instance, to get from Downsview Park GO to Rutherford GO, it costs $0.27 and takes less than 10 minutes. A comparable trip on the TTC (to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre) would cost $3.00 and takes about 15 minutes. I find myself here frequently because it's walking distance to Scotiabank Pond and the sports facilities in that area. It makes for a convenient detour along my daily commute. The station is very clean and bright. However, because it's a bit out of the way, there's usually no one else here. One of the downsides to taking the GO train is that there are very few seats for anyone waiting for the train. Wifi is free.

It was confusing getting picked up since I exited the station at one end while my ride was waiting at the other. I had to go down the stairs, across the station and up the stairs on the other side. The second time I was at this station was because there was an incident on the Barrie line of the GO and everyone on the morning train was required to disembark and take the subway the rest of the way. Even though there was a great deal of people all getting off the train and going into the station at the same time there weren't any issues since the station is so huge and able to accommodate all the passengers.

Since the opening of this station and the York University subway station, buses are no longer allowed on campus. Buses stop right here instead and students have to take the subway to campus. That's an extra 3.25 per commute just for 2 stops. You might be thinking "sounds like a YorkU problem!" But let's keep it real here it was probably mutual. On the bright side the campus is no longer crowded with buses and line-ups. Though the commute is a hassle now for GO riders.

As far as proximity the two business interchange stations flank Bay station to the east and west (St. George, Bloor-Yonge) and they're not that far from one another. I had to actually use Bay station the other night as it's probably my least used station in the core. Both line 1 on the University or Yonge lines wasn't stopping at either Bloor station (St. George or Bloor-Yonge) due to a police investigation around 11pm on May 24th, 2019. Inconvenient right? It's a bit of a walk from Wellesley to Bay station but it had to be done. The only bus route connecting to this station is a transfer required board which is route 6 (Bay). The top of the route starts at Dupont and Davenport not that far from Casa Loma in fact it's not far from Dupont station. The route travels south along Davenport to Bay and south on Bay all the way to Queens Quay before turning left (east) where it eventually loops around at Lower Sherbourne by the FedEx downtown depot. On the Belair Street side entrance just next door is a business called DECIEM The Abnormal Beauty Company. They want you to know that their business is NOT BAY. Their signage kind of looks like Bay station but is not Bay. I guess they had so many people walk in by accident that they not play on that. Funny...
