It has been 3 years since my last review of this station and things have changed. GO Transit…read moreintroduced two short trains that start at Maple station, which helps quite a bit. It feels luxurious because you can always find a seat. However, they're only available at 7:19am and 7:49am. This station is much busier than it used to be in the past. Parking is full by 7:30am. GO Transit has also introduced reserved parking spots for close to $100/mo. There are still plenty of free parking spots available, but GO will keep adding reserved spots as more people request them. The number of free parking spots will only diminish. Illegal parking in the parking lot is not worth it, as I hear that tickets are close to the same price as a reserved parking spot. Parking in residential areas is also not recommended due to bylaws. From what I hear from a co-worker who takes the train from Maple station, the Maple parking lot is almost all reserved parking. The station has free wifi now. They always show CP24 news on the TV, which is a great distraction while waiting for the train to arrive. I also enjoy the humor of the customer service reps on the train. "Tracks are for trains. If you're not a train, you shouldn't be on the track." "Thank you for choo-choo-choosing GO."

But, the train is reliable and there is only one stop from here to Union Station. It's also clean and has nice seats. During non-peak hours, it changes to coach bus service. Takes ~45 minutes to here from Union compared to ~30 minutes by train. You can buy your tickets here from a teller during peak times or anytime from the machine.

There's a pickup/drop-off location on both north and south entrance of the station for quick drop-offs, and the signage around the station makes it simple to get where you need to go. The station is well-maintained and it's going through construction at the moment. There's a TTC kiosk if you needed help from an employee and there are self-serve reload machines available to reload your Presto card.

Continuing my tour of Toronto's metro, today we rode the train to St. Patrick station. St. Patrick…read moreis on the Yong-University Line (aka "Line 1") of the metro and is between Queen's Park (towards Vaughan) and Osgoode (towards Finch). The station is named for nearby St. Patrick's Church. It is located under University Avenue at Dundas Street and the station does feature a free wifi network. For me, it was quite close to Chinatown. As with several other stations, St. Patrick has a center platform which means that the doors of the train will open on the left. The station does have access for handicapped and I was able to ride an escalator from the platform level to the ticketing level and then stairs for me to the surface. Used this line to travel from Maple to Downtown Toronto every weekday. It's expensive getting…read moredowntown but the service is very reliable. Tons of parking but GO has started to increase the amount of reserved spots which has people fighting for free spots every morning. The parking lot usually fills up by 7am so try to get there super early to guarantee a spot. This station has washrooms, a ticket booth, and free wifi for when you're waiting for your train. Train service stops around 9am every weekday so just a heads up. Service updates are provided on the monitors above and are fairly accurate & dependable.

This is pretty major GO station, so it has a large number of bus routes and it's own train line…read morealong with trains that go all the way to Georgetown/Mt Pleasant to the west and all trains/buses ending at Union to the East. There's a lot of parking spots available and you need to arrive very early (8am or earlier) in order to get a good spot. There's a second parking lot too that some people might not know about as it requires a further drive on Steeles and then a double back to the south side of the station. A very big negative for the station is the lack of a central board that indicates what buses leave from which of the bus stops and form which of the 4 platforms the train would arrive/depart (but since there's only one line, you're pretty safe just joining the crowd that's already on the platform). The bus stops have their own signs indicating their destinations, but this requires one to walk all the way to the stops to figure stuff out. And there is a small electronic board well above eyesight level under the big green "GO" sign indicating the train platform, but it's hard to see and does not help once you're actually in the station. Other than that, there's a small commuters cafe in the terminal that serves coffee and snacks (never used it though). You can get downtown either taking the bus/train all the way down to Union or taking the bus on the 401 to Yorkdale/York Mills. Keep in mind though, as the 401 bus frequently uses a stop outside the actual Bramalea GO station (stops at the south east corner of Bramalea and Steeles instead) Overall it's a good hub for travel to go downtown as service starts around 5am and goes on till 11 or 12 at night, with the last bus from downtown leaving Union at 1:30am to get here. As with most stations, AVOID rush hour! If you can spare it, take the 9:20 train down and aim to return on the 6:50 train back up. Both a far more pleasant ride than all the other times!

This train station along with a couple of bus terminals have a futuristic oval shape. The interior is lined with mirrors and skylights, making it both bright and beautiful. The station is very clean and still has that new construction smell. There are 2 parking lots, managed by Smart Centres. The larger parking lot is located next to the station. The smaller parking lot is located where the old Best Buy and Home Outfitters used to be.
