St. Patrick station is located underground at University Avenue and Dundas Street W.
While there's a few ways in from the street level there are underground entrances that attach to the north west, north east and south west buildings which are 480 University, 481 University and 438 University respectively.
St. Patrick which I also like to call San Patrizio is of course, green. While we have the other patron saints of Scotland (St. Andrew aka San Andreas) and England (St. George aka San Jorge) that make up the Union Jack Flag it's only fitting to have the patron saint of Eire has a station named as well.
What's strange about this naming is that St. Patrick Street is not one but two streets away. Simcoe is the next immediate street west of University and then St. Patrick street and St. Patrick's Church is yet another block west at McCaul. Either way it doesn't really matter because they could have named it Dundas but wait there's already a Dundas. OK they could have named it Dundas West but this station existed before the other Dundas West... St. Patrick it is!
St. Patrick has that round wall "tube" look like the London tube and it's sort of special because not many others on the TTC system have that same style.
Since this station is completely underground there's no streetcars or buses that stop "at" the station but rather there's 2 routes that are transferrable from here.
The 142 bus aka Avenue Road Express services north of Wilson Avenue near the end of Avenue by the 401 and goes down the entire stretch of Avenue, Queens Park, University and runs counter clockwise along Richmond (west bound one way) south to Simcoe, east on Adelaide and north on Church back to Richmond before returning north on University.
Of course there's the 505 Dundas street car that originates at Dundas West station (line 2) which goes south on Roncesvalles back to Dundas and east crossing both line 1 subway routes (University and Yonge) and continues east and then travels north on Broadview up to Broadview station again on line 2. read more
