this station would be one of the "freshest" stations from the U-loop of the YUS\line 1/yellow line. other then union station(just done a massive renovation) this station seems out of place when arriving at the platform, when you look out of the subway car, or even walk out, you seem like you're not on the TTC. its called museum because above is the royal Ontario museum, i say that because they reflected the design of this station, every pillar\column belongs to a different design, from a different part of the world. Ancient Egyptian Deity Osiris, Toltec warriors, Doric columns, China's Forbidden City columns, and First Nations house posts. as well the station boasts historical hieroglyphic inscription from the ROM which spell out the Stations name. on the platform, at one of the ends, there is a good section that is "barred" off, almost to resemble a jail cell, even with the renovation back in 2008, the bars were fixed in place, instead of being walled up due to the exhaust fans needed for the transit lines.
a really amazing station for all of the details that went into the renovation, and with this station being one of the older ones, a much needed renovation was in order, and for 2008, it looks like it was done last year. it has aged well.
its a shame that the TTC doesn't renovate more stations, i know it takes alot of money, but with dufferin, union and museum looking outstanding, it would be amazing to see what they do with other stations. read more
